Before the servers went down it looked like about 5500 players in game for those of you that were wondering. I don't know if that was total players w/ accounts or actually in game though. I found the number by choosing the "add friend" option where it listed evreyone. |

They said that their server can handle over 10k players. 5.5k already was enough. LIES OVER LIES. |

Nice, I think this is the first game I see where the devs are not afraid to show the number of online players. This is a good sign when you see how screwy some companies have been with this, take AoC for 1 example. Furthermore, most of the other games besides eve are maxing out at about 5000, aren't they? |

ehm 5.5 thousand and ZERO issues. I was playing the game perfectly, and I was in the most populated zone of them all, the human starter area.
So yeah... the game can definitely take more ppl.

According to the reports I have seen, it is congested in the starting areas due to launch, but once you go out into the world it's fine. Now they need to fix the server going down all the time. No big deal currently for me, lets see how it works out in a few days. |

ZERO issues, apart from mobs started rubber-banding and vanishing and then the server crashed...

I think AoC can handle much more, but it's a fully multi-layer instanced world with 48 (?) players max per area/instance (96 max in the mob less pvp sieging zone). You can't compare this with an open world like DF.

I never saw any rubber-band or vanish. I did see a lot of mobs just get stuck and not fight back still. Server ran fairly smooth aside from the starter areas being a tad laggy. If they can iron out some of the pathing issues, server downs, and maybe correct the lag, if possible, they game is looking pretty good after being considered a"disaster". |

Really? No. Really it is the first day. When players bind throughout the world it won't be looking like it's enough. As far as that goes it is 6:31 am where I am at. How do you know it is peak hour. They said 10k players simultaneously during peak hours. Again, didn't they say when they finish processing the remaining orders they wold open the server up for more players? Figure the delay for adding more players is so the starter zones can thin out some. |

In any game that you play , if the area your respawning is full of players you will lag to hell as your computer has to work harder. 5500 players is not bad. That doesnt mean that 5500 players is the ammount of active subs. for eu and na there may be subscribers who play at different times so it cannot be all of them oh and darkstar stop using the word perfect. Go look up the definition of perfect then come and edit your post. how hard is it to say that the game is working fine. there is no damn mmo out there working perfectly. Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men. |

Servers going down a lot is very common for new MMO launches. Even for MMO that had smooth launches, the servers would get bounced a few times.
As long as they come right back up it's not too big of problem. |

They couldn't know the server would handle 10k human players. BUT they used the beta bots.. and they were over 10 thousand!!!!! And I'm sure for Tasos, bots are players. Just.. not human. Bot players. Tasos never lies. Oh and the game is running perfectly smooth without ANY problem. Darkstar said it. |

Well, if it's indeed true that there were 5.5K users in-game at once (which I don't believe just yet), and this is AT LAUCH (terrible launch at that) where almost all people are confined to select few areas, it is easy to believe that few months, or even weeks, down the read when they get things under control and when people spread out of the newbie zones, they will be able to handle 10K no problem. |

just so you guys know they have one issue to work out then we will get to order so there will be alot more than 5500 on one server (they will probably let a few thousand order) |

I can only hope that this will be true within the next hour or two. I'm waiting and waiting to put my order in. When I finally get in I have no doubt I'm going to do nothing but enjoy this game. |

First of all, the first and only large game to show online numbers was EVE Online. Secondly, the number in the Journal/Clan pages is the total amount of characters created, NOT online players. You can see all chars there whether they are online or not e.g. in beta this number was over 15,000, because alts were allowed (I had 6 chars there, for instance). Yes, most games out there support 3-5k users online. Darkfall so far has proved to have serious issues supporting less. Again, 5,500 total characters created = that many succesful pre-orders (single char per server) and maybe 2-3k people online. I'll give them that because of launch, even as much as half of playerbase may be online at the same time (normally it's closer to 20% - see EVE Online; I hope I don't have to explain what are time-zones and activities such as sleep, job, work etc.). |
