Nope. I did not say that and will not say that. But large numbers of customers like you make the cool calculators in the corporations think that they can get away with bad business practices. Unfortunately it works often enough.
MMORPGs are ongoing services refinanced by subscription or micropayments. There are a lot of these services also outside of the gaming world. For example magazine subscriptions, support contracts and even your electricity and water. If these enterprises would behave like gaming companies... oh my would you be furious. Imagine your favourite PC-magazine suddenly filling half their mag with stitching patterns, the water coming pink and with an obnoxious flavour. But yuo paid in advance, according to totally different information backing your decision and now you are fucked, since it's non refundable.
Of course you can avoid disappointment by lowering your expectations to near the zero level. But ask yourself how you could develop that reflex. There are two ways of fighting shitty treatment by others. One is to develop a masochistic reflex and taking it all and the other is to not tolerate it and not fund it. You chose the first, I chose the second. I sure hoped (and with a little corner of my mind still hope) that DF would be a good game to play for months to come. But when I saw the business conduct of AV I abstained. A company which is not able to do simple things like keeping customers informed and have an up to date website (among other things) is more than probably not able to muster all that is needed to sucessfully launch and rund a MMORPG. [qute]Simply dont buy it/play it. That nullifies all your words.[/quote] |

Thank you. I have been looking for a smart way to tell these people to shut da fug up and calm down. Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

This is utter crap. I understand someone saying be patient for fixes. At launch I give the benefit of the doubt to quests not working right. Maybe some skills are bugged. Chat not working, but not even being able to log in is going way too far. The game should at least be in some PLAYABLE state!!!
I've seen horrid launches in my day, but the complaints I'm hearing go beyond patience. Noone like sitting at home with a client loaded and patched then cannot log. These are issues that should have been taken care of. There is no excuse!@ |

Whilst I agree with the OPs point, the post itself was one of the most bile-filled, arrogant, masturbatory diatribes I've ever had the misfortune to read. A great advert for the community...good work fella |

Originally posted by Chubbyjesus lol, calling yourself a grown up and then flaming everyone who (has all the right to) complain about it. while some go over-the-top with the complaint i see many being valid, there are gamekilling bugs/exploits that have give a few guilds a headstart over others. why dont u make a new thread and bring up some valid arguments instead of telling everyone to shut up cause u are an awesome experienced mmo player. stop being full of yourself, roflmao |

Everybody wishes something was different. Darkfall fans want to play so they cry. Chub wants people not to complain so he crys.
I guess Chub thinks crying about a game is for kids while crying about people is adult. Ok you win, you have achieved the highest tier of crying authority.
I know this. I will feast on all you teary asses in game!

Bro, most people are simply responding to YOUR irrational plea, when simply logic dictates that those are are patient and do not purchase this game, will be rewarded with a more knowledgable facts as they unfold. Your irrational responses and trite argument doesn't bolster anything within your opening post.
We simple don't care if you are going to buy the game! Go ahead, all the power to you. But, please, don't come here and troll the forums with MANDATORY must read threads when all you are saying is that you trust Adventurine and no matter their problems, you have confidence.
Most people are discussing relevent matters about the GAME, so we really don't care about your decision to buy the game or even trying to disuade you. We are discussing the many pitfalls and the numerous issues and how those are valid reason to be weary.
If you are blind to those or those issues will not influence your decision, then why even post or announce your decision. Try discussing the game....

I love how OP comes and uses big words and complex sentences to put everyone down who doesn't agree with him. Actually, makes him look more pathetic and desperate than the people who come and say, "OMFGWTF, I ned to pwnz newbz or I will diezzzz..." Fact is how can you even come off defending this company? They screwed up horribly and can't admit it. They need to just give people the real information about what is going on. But instead they have Brannoc make some very vague posts in mIRC and have shutr down every other form of contact with them. Even their support system gives generic auto-replies. They are trying to cover up all their lies. They contradict themself with each update they do give. First the billing was messed and and for whatever reason that was keepign servers from launching, but that the game was and has been ready. Ok, whatever, now next update says huge bug found so we won't release, but I thought it was ready to go? This is just one tiny example of what has been going on past several days. And I don't know where you think everyone is able to cancel their preorders as the entire account management has been down for days, and only recently came back up with no option to do it since its past the 25th. They need to offer a refund for people, but they won't. They are desperate for money, and will abuse peoples trust to get it. From noon on the 24th to evening on the 25th no one could get into the account management page to cancel their order. This isn't just a little shady? Offering preorders then taking the site down where you can do it is a very fucked up thing to do. Some of you fanbois are just too blind to see that at the momemt. You guys will eventually come out of your DF induced coma at one point and realize what is really going on. You fanboyism isn't shielded by the fact that you can put a complex idea together and come up with creative ways to put others down who are askign legitimate questions. You are the one who is actually looking foolish in this thread. People have logical concerns about where their money is and about the company accessing their accounts. They spoon-fed people all these lies about all these great features and did not put a single one in. No wonder they kept the NDA down so long. They absolutely couldn't let people see the huge flop they had on their hands or how would they ever get preorder money?

Good post. It is sad when you see people posting here being happy that a game failed. Some of them no longer have the right to call themselves gamers after some of their nonsense. Especially when have of them guarenteed us the game was vaporware and a scam...and have now conveiniently forgot about that. Oh well, they have had a very bad launch, but a launch nonetheless...and the game is still better than anything out there right now once they fix sync issues. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. I was looking for a challenge, but these things are just too damn smart." -DF Beta Tester "If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos |

It's because of posts like this, that this type of 'release' is excused and tolerated. There is NOTHING acceptable about any of this soap opera. These games should be independantly tested before they ever see the light of day, and the company involved is allowed to get anywhere near CC details. Server stress tests should be mandatory as part of this procedure, as well as all the relevant support structures that involve customer accounts. I would be ashamed to have posted anything similar to what you just did. The days of hoodwinking the public should be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, it is very much part of the present day. This garbage needs stamping out - quickly. |

been out of your bunker recently? sorry but with a statement like that in your post, how can you be expected to be taken serious by anybody who's not mentally stuck in the 50s? what's worse is that you're most likely not old enough to have lived in those times.
No, actually, he is spot on. He even used the phrase "hurry up and wait," a phrase well known to Americans living in many European countries. Although I wouldnt quite call them "slaves to socialism," just because the wall fell, doesnt mean attitudes towards business in Europe are nearly as competitive or cut throat as they are in the US. The fact of the matter is, cut throat (or otherwise) competition is not a factor in many businesses in Europe, thus breeding a lax attitude towards a company's customer base. Just ask any customer of Deutsche Telekom... |
