okay, first off, I just read the title and am responding to it.   I haven't bothered to read the OP or the others that followed.

I beta tested and I played today.    I have also defended this game and I like it alot.    That all said, today was very far from fine.    It reminds me of Pulp Fiction when Bruce Willis asked that guy if he was okay after he was man raped.

This game wasn't anywhere close to fine today and it was multiples worse than any beta day I played in the weeks of beta testing I did.

I don't know what the issues were but it was royally messed up and I am not going to lie about that.    I will also say that despite the crazy stuff, I still had a blast today LOL.

Sounds to me like most of the problems could have been worked out (except the billing and account problems) could have been worked out had they held an actual beta and an open beta. The flaw with not having a large scale open beta is that there aren't enough players in one given area hammering on the server to see if there are going to be any issues with stability, and what bugs arise from having a loaded down game world.

Oh and limited launch or not they should have already had distribution and billing set up weeks before hand.

So I have to wonder if this is going to be a new trend or not. Whenever your game fails, just blame WoW!

Really though pick which one it is. Either WoW players are all fucking carebears who are stupid or they are the players who are buying Darkfall in droves (A fairly obscure game to the public who doesn't actually keep up in MMORPG news) and fucking up the servers.

Anyways I'm not surprised that this is happening. Shit man, I called it like 4 months ago. I can't believe people are still rabidly defending this game like they did nothing wrong. Syncing problems, people getting billed when they shouldn't, people not even being able to play... yeah, sounds like a great game!

Trying to blame the "Lol WoW" crowd is just fucking stupid. I can tell you that pretty much everyone playing WoW right now does not give a shit about Darkfall, either because they are more casual players in the MMORPG scene, that they are interested in PvP and not PvE or they are like me and want to play a fun MMO.

Don't get me wrong, even as a WoW player (I didn't start with WoW though, started with UO) I want a great open ended PvP game with full loot. However Darkfall is just a piece of shit. I like how people can proclaim the game takes so much skill when in all of the PvP videos I saw it was just people using the same overhead swing or the same magic missile. Yeah, real skill right there guys.

I've gone a bit off track though. Point is WoW players don't want anything to do with this game, and that AV is a failure as a company. Darkfall is 2009's Dark and Light pretty much play by play. I'm sure some will agree with me.

Anyways it is back to waiting for a good MMO to come out or, that is, a "hardcore PvP" MMORPG that is actually fun to play.

For a lot of people, it just means full loot and PvP+ for every player.

For me, it means a game that takes individual skill to defeat another player. Needless to say, I'm not playing DF for that reason. But it's nice to see that you think DF is a hardcore PvP game, when it is in reality, a RvR game more than anything else.

I dont think dfo has hardcore pvp, but thats just my opinion.. I remember playing wow, (since you brought wow up) and trying to take halaa from a overwhelming amount of alliance, because we were out numbered on my server 3/1.  usually it was just me and my brother, he was a shaman and I was a warlock.. Trying to take this city from so many was a blast.  We would fly from building top to building top dotting and nuking them to hell.. stacking up token. Then jump right downtown with them and aoe fear em dot em all to hell then jump off the cliff into the river/lake below.. then we would fly back up and land on  island in the sky, taunting tour oponents to come out and die on the island so they couldn't get there corpses back.... All the while killing them 5/1 of us.. Now i see that as some hardcore pvp. But you guys whine so much about wow.. I mean i stopped playing wow too cause it started to bore me.. So i really dont see chase N slash as hardcore
Whats so hardcore about it, you loose some worthless items you got off a newb goblin.  That you chased around for 2mins..

GANK doesnt mean hardcore

Real PvP is more than just causing some other player's HP bar to reach zero. In games like Shadowbane and Darkfall, you have something to lose. Full loot helps, but that alone isn't "it." Having to defend the cities that you and your friends worked hard for is something real to fight over.

From what I'm reading, the cities aren't that hard to build at the moment, with the rampant exploiting of the game. So....yeah...

Not to mention what is the point of the city? From what I hear the only thing it helps is it gives you a spot to teleport.

WoW attracted millions upon millions of mindless drooling drones from the more easy-going casual gaming scene. (i.e. consoles, ect) And all these negative bitch-fest threads? Well that's them for the most part. Let them get it out, let them see the non-perfect graphics and run away, let them see the harsh death penalties and flee back to wow. Once they are all finally gone and the dust settles, Darkfall, the small niche mmo, will be smooth as butter and filled to the brim with the small percentage "hardcore pvp" slice of mmoers having the absolute times of their lives.

"The game is actually going just fine, the negative threads mean nothing."

Oh I see. Your opinion has value but no one else's does. You are a self-centered moron. Go wack-off your ego somewhere else.

But Aventurine had their 'Professional Beta testers'!!   And all the Darkfall fanbois were constantly defending their use as being perfectly suitable to beta test a fully functioning MMORPG!   All this in spite of the long history of problems of games that haven't had a decent public beta tests.

Looks like they weren't quite up to snuff were they?

The DF fanbois should have been the ones screaming at Aventurine that they needed to do a REAL public beta test, not the farce they slapped together.   Instead they just swallowed Tasos' hype that those "Professional Beta testers" (aka Internal QA department) would be sufficient.     Now they get to see the results.

Tasos spent the last year+ telling every investor and small time game rag how there were over 300k people waiting to play ( 'course he changed it to 300k after letting the initial claim of 3 million players float around for months uncorrected ).

Then they made limited pre-orders. This means they controlled EXACTLY how many people could pay to play.

There was no under estimation.

There was only arrogance and stupidity, as usual.

Arrogance that they were ready without having a real structure in place to handle even the small amount of players they PLANNED FOR.

Stupidity for trying to hide behind "everything is fine, we're working it out" while people sit on their asses unable to play what they paid for.

IMHO, taking your ( the OP ) strategy for my own, the positive threads don't mean shit. What do people care about so-called positive views/reviews when they can't use the product they paid for themselves?

That's like telling someone how great the newest supercar handles and how fun it is, getting them excited, taking their money, and then saying "Sorry, we'll get to you soon. But man, don't you just love the car!".

The only difference is, those screwed by the supercar dealer would have grabbed their money back pronto, whereas most mmo gamers just let the companies get away with shit like that. That's what Tasos counts on.

So yes, the people who play WoW, not knowing any better are going to think DF is terrible. They aren't going to give it a chance, and they are going to whine if they do, because it doesn't play as well as the beloved game of ez..

WoW was my least favorite subscription based MMO game to date.  Until I played Darkfall, now it's my 2nd least favorite MMO game.  Oh, and I still play old school UO which is still the best MMO game in my opinion.

Explain that.

"real to fight over"?  No its still not real.

Playing the game to get the city and defending it was the reason you played wasnt it?  You play games to have fun and you did those things because they were fun right?  If not then I hate to tell you this but your not a gamer your just a masochist.

Well to respond to the original post. The game is stable sure. But understand I paid $50.57 and still have no access to the game. That money has come out of my Bank account and all has been processed. There is no missing information. I submitted a support e-mail as soon as the account support servers were up over twelve hours ago, and there hasn't been one response.

However, given their size and what they have to deal with, im keeping a cool head for the time being. After the weekend if nothing has been processed with my account and everything is out of the woodwork for them and I still have no access, i'll just call my bank and have them get me my money back.....It's pretty simple for me.

However, there are people that are dealing with the same thing that aren't so level headed, and thats where the problem is....not with carebears.

How do you know it's stable if you can't even get in game?

Anyways it's nice to see someone level headed now and then, but in reality I think you should be trying to raise hell (although from what I understand the forums are still down so that isn't an option?) and not supporting such business practices. That's just me though.

their forums are down to keep bad publicity off it, no other reason. The common gamer may not know about this site, and if they are interested in the game, then they will go to an official site. Since there are no negative or positive posts there, they just assume everything is ok.

Very smart, yet very devious marketing.

Yeah I pretty much assumed that. Like I've said in a previous post every time I hear about darkfall it sounds more and more like Dark and Light. Seriously.

For only 150.00 dollah you can play owah betah (email summary from 2003 when I first heard about the game and applied.) I told them to get stuffed.  Blocked their email etc.
