Sounds to me like most of the problems could have been worked out (except the billing and account problems) could have been worked out had they held an actual beta and an open beta. The flaw with not having a large scale open beta is that there aren't enough players in one given area hammering on the server to see if there are going to be any issues with stability, and what bugs arise from having a loaded down game world. Oh and limited launch or not they should have already had distribution and billing set up weeks before hand. |

So I have to wonder if this is going to be a new trend or not. Whenever your game fails, just blame WoW! Really though pick which one it is. Either WoW players are all fucking carebears who are stupid or they are the players who are buying Darkfall in droves (A fairly obscure game to the public who doesn't actually keep up in MMORPG news) and fucking up the servers.
I've gone a bit off track though. Point is WoW players don't want anything to do with this game, and that AV is a failure as a company. Darkfall is 2009's Dark and Light pretty much play by play. I'm sure some will agree with me.

Real PvP is more than just causing some other player's HP bar to reach zero. In games like Shadowbane and Darkfall, you have something to lose. Full loot helps, but that alone isn't "it." Having to defend the cities that you and your friends worked hard for is something real to fight over. "It is in your nature to do one thing correctly; Before me, you rightfully tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe." ~Francis Dolarhyde |

Not to mention what is the point of the city? From what I hear the only thing it helps is it gives you a spot to teleport. |

The DF fanbois should have been the ones screaming at Aventurine that they needed to do a REAL public beta test, not the farce they slapped together. Instead they just swallowed Tasos' hype that those "Professional Beta testers" (aka Internal QA department) would be sufficient. Now they get to see the results.

Tasos spent the last year+ telling every investor and small time game rag how there were over 300k people waiting to play ( 'course he changed it to 300k after letting the initial claim of 3 million players float around for months uncorrected ). Then they made limited pre-orders. This means they controlled EXACTLY how many people could pay to play. There was no under estimation. There was only arrogance and stupidity, as usual. Arrogance that they were ready without having a real structure in place to handle even the small amount of players they PLANNED FOR. Stupidity for trying to hide behind "everything is fine, we're working it out" while people sit on their asses unable to play what they paid for.
IMHO, taking your ( the OP ) strategy for my own, the positive threads don't mean shit. What do people care about so-called positive views/reviews when they can't use the product they paid for themselves? That's like telling someone how great the newest supercar handles and how fun it is, getting them excited, taking their money, and then saying "Sorry, we'll get to you soon. But man, don't you just love the car!". The only difference is, those screwed by the supercar dealer would have grabbed their money back pronto, whereas most mmo gamers just let the companies get away with shit like that. That's what Tasos counts on. |

Well to respond to the original post. The game is stable sure. But understand I paid $50.57 and still have no access to the game. That money has come out of my Bank account and all has been processed. There is no missing information. I submitted a support e-mail as soon as the account support servers were up over twelve hours ago, and there hasn't been one response. However, given their size and what they have to deal with, im keeping a cool head for the time being. After the weekend if nothing has been processed with my account and everything is out of the woodwork for them and I still have no access, i'll just call my bank and have them get me my money back.....It's pretty simple for me. However, there are people that are dealing with the same thing that aren't so level headed, and thats where the problem is....not with carebears. |

How do you know it's stable if you can't even get in game? Anyways it's nice to see someone level headed now and then, but in reality I think you should be trying to raise hell (although from what I understand the forums are still down so that isn't an option?) and not supporting such business practices. That's just me though. |

their forums are down to keep bad publicity off it, no other reason. The common gamer may not know about this site, and if they are interested in the game, then they will go to an official site. Since there are no negative or positive posts there, they just assume everything is ok. Very smart, yet very devious marketing.

Yeah I pretty much assumed that. Like I've said in a previous post every time I hear about darkfall it sounds more and more like Dark and Light. Seriously. |
