I think the saddest part of all of this is all of you kiddies out there hoping the game fails dont really get it. Everyone that plays mmos should hope or pray to whom ever you pray to that this game makes it. Why you ask? If they fail its that less of a chance that someone else with a great idea can get funding to make another one. This is also one of the reasons i nearly always buy and pay for at least 1 month of a new games life. We need these guys to succeed to insure we get better games down the road and not buy Developers like SOE or EA that could give a rats ass if you like there game or not. While these guys are certainly after making a proffit or at the very least breaking even they have put there hearts and souls into making this game. I remmeber several interviews with Lord British where he said we just had no idea the amount of people that were truely wanting to play this game and as often as we have heard this from other developers it still happens. there was another game that had huge potiential that failed called Irth online. That was a small company and as much as everyone wanted it to fly they just botched over and over. but i still tried to support the game hoping they would get it right. they never did and now that game sits on a unused hard drive somewhere. I just hope and pray we dont have that happen here and everyone of you should do the same for the sake of the future games that have not been made yet. played M59,UO,lineage,EQ,Daoc,Entropia,SWG,Horizons,Lineage2.EQ2,Vangaurd,Irth online, DarkFall,Star Trek |

Look at it from the other side. If this game makes it, it means companies can conduct themselves completely unprofessionally, treat their customers like crap, yet still take their money. Maybe if it fails, other companies will learn from the mistakes AV made. Honestly, I think the die hards will keep the game alive though. But it will never claw its way out of a niche market. |

Seriously though, what will all of the Anti-DF trolls do with their time now that the game is going to be out there and playable. My guess is they'll probably be playing it. |

I wanted DF to be a succesd, I have no real intrest in playing DF, personally I am still waiting for a true DAOC 2 but this industry needs something diffrent to come out and do well( and you do not need WoW numbers to do well and get noticed, of course they would't hurt either I really hope that things sort them self out in the next couple days, but I don't expect them too. Here is hoping I am wrong!

yup we are kiddies who don't have the extra cash to fund these failed mmos. If i want to support some crappy games, i might as well donate to the charity helping real ppl in need. Companies like Funcom and Aventurine who lied to their customers with broken/missing features and covered up stories(all features launch ready crap, its coming soon lies, not upfront with missing features) should go bankrupt. |

I don't think so... other companies (wealthy companies) will look and just think "imagine if I made DF, but with a BUDGET." DF's only drawback is that it's indie. The ideas and the game itself are better than big budget companies. Woulda been nice to have it all, though. |

Yes, hating games cuz is so cool is so lame. But did I say I hated DF anywhere? I said AV made some mistakes, which you can't deny. |

I look at it this way, for every "niche" game that succeeds, there is that many less script kiddies and roid ragers in the games that I play.
So yes, I hope it succeeds and draws everyone that has any iota of interest in the game into it for a very very long time.

Why hate a game? Why love one? Neither makes sense. I'm with Harabeck on this. The reason we get MMO releases like AoC, Dark and Light, Vanguard, and Hellgate is at least in part due to fanbois who will clamor to support it, and try to shout anyone down with the audacity to be critical (not hate, just be critical) even when such criticism is justified. I don't think anyone should emulate the way AV has kept its customers in the dark, and did such an unprofessional job of launching this game. In the grand scheme of things, they should recieve scorn instead of praise for the poor job they've done, so that other game companys both large and small know that it won't be tolerated anymore. In short, I'm more of an advocate for the consumer than I am for a company, and I don't think this type of performance should be reinforced or praised by the MMO community. In order to get more and better games, I don't think the end justifies the means. We'll only get better games if we as a community demand quality. We don't need to provide incentive for more garbage or lousy service. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

Uhm, they arent the first to have FFA PVP/Full Loot/Skill based combat...
You realize this? There is litterally NOTHING new about DarkFall. |

I understand the sentiment considering the nature of this games development, however paying for a product that you dont necessarily like because you want to see other products will have the effect of the next game being more like the game you paid for that you dont like... I Think :)

Yeah, a long friggin' time, and EvE doesn't count as it's gameplay is COMPLETELY different. |
