Yeah players sell 30 day pilots license on the Market for 300 million isk.

A three month old player in a hulk mining strickly in high sec can make that isk in 10+ hours of farming a month easily.

Hell I farm isk for my pvp mains I havent paid for two accounts for 14 months.

Seriously, look at all the gameplay options this game gives you.

The freedom to do what you want. Sandbox games are unpopular for a reason. Most people don't like them as they like to be guided towards whatever shiny is at the end. Eve not that sandboxy though. You still need to follow a somewhat set route to be successful in Eve. It got sandbox elements, but to call it a true sandbox game is a lie. Tell me what other MMO out there is a true sandbox and what a true sandbox is.

Risk v reward for everything you do.

Amazing economy, a fully shaped gaming universe totally ran by the players. No argument there. While it do the economy game quite ok, it's not automatically a good thing, or even a thing unique to Eve. Every bloody mmo got an economy of sorts, some more or less broken than the next one, Eve being no exception. Eves economy is broken ? How ? Besides, no other MMO out there has the economy like Eve.

The customization options within the game are mind boggling. As in what? A mind-numbing high number of skills? I don't exactly call that good customization. As an example, what do Signature Analysis and Signature Focusing has to do with shooting lasers at stuff in space? The massive list of skills actually work against this game, not for it and let me not start pointing out the way you gain skills in this game. Signature Analaysis does this and Signature Focusing does this. They have nothing do with firing lasers but to do with locking speed and the ability to use a specific module. Sorry that the game is too overwhelming for you.

The graphics are second to none, they even kick the shit out of sci-fi space games that aren't even out yet!!! Pfft! Glorified window-dressing. The graphics hardly tell you anything, as proven that everything you do, you gotten done from selecting them from lists and context menus. LOL , way to downtalk with nothing to back yourself up with. Sorry the game isnt just click a couple of buttons and collect epic loot.

When Corps (guilds) get thier ass kicked in this game, it isn't news on a game forum, the god damn BBC writes an article about it!!!! Link, or it didn't happen, unless it was a gaming show and if it was, then it's a given and nothing to write home about. Here is your link. Was already a thread about it.

The Devs give us constant updates and tweaks. 5+ years of game play and the game is as supported as any mmo that released this year. So what. Every mmo is supported with tweaks and patches now and then, even games older than Eve. Yeah tweaks and patches from other MMOs, not full on expansions for FREE.

Seriously while certain people may not like the sci-fi setting or the type of combat or risk the game holds it should still be respected for what it gives the players that actually play the game. Ok, fair point. Well over 200k subscribers do like this game and what it's offering and the game seems to be growing, slowly but steadily. This is correct. The only mmo besides WoW that has steadily increased numbers every year since launch.

people that down right hate the game and say its the worst thing they ever played are insane. Oh, so since I don't like this game at all, and think the community this game harbors is a bunch of knee-capping jerks, I'm insane? Oh well, I rather be insane, than a navel-gazing asshole. And we're the knee capping jerks ? You're just an asshole because of what you say and not because you don't like Eve.

Being a good or bad game is subjective, but to hate a game? I don't understand it.

Ok, I'm bored and wanted to troll a little and this thread seemed like a good target

Yippee, Slask the EVE-troll is back! You know Slask, if you spent half as much time playing a game - any game - as you do trolling this forum you might actually have a little fun someday. We do get it Slask, really we do - you didn't like the game. We're fine with that, why aren't you?

Well, I don't care for EVE all that much, and I'll try to explain why and try not to sound like a troll.

Sandboxes are fun, but I have a short attention span unless I have something specific to do. Yes, that's kind of sad, but it's a reason.

Combat, while it's stakes are high, isn't all that interesting to participate in simply because (In my opinon) it's not all that fun to watch ships fly in circles and shoot missles at each other.

Time based leveling? Thanks for screwing over the new guy. Though I suppose if you make some allies early it won't really be all that much of a problem that you start out near defenseless in an almost completely PVP oriented game.

So yeah... I don't care for it much, but I can most definetely see why people would like it.

My brother is the same way, he thinks it's a good game just not the setting he prefers.

I seriously don't know one person that wouldn't want the freedom or gameplay options CCP gives its players but in a setting more to thier liking.

See now this is a legitimate way to say you don't like something. He's not slamming Eve at all, but merely pointing out what he doesn't like and why. I can see why you wouldn't like Eve if you have a short attention span. Combat can be more involved than just circling each other but that is how a lot of people fly.

I don't agree with your statement about the skill training system screwing over new people at all though. It's a topic thats been discussed to death in these forums already.

I think the two biggest reasons people come to actually "hate" Eve are the lack of percievable forward progress and the death mechanic.

1) 90% of all MMOs now and in history, you can simply log in and do an hours work of work and see a definitive progress.  Your progress in the game is directly reflected by the time you spend in the game.  Eve, with the skill requirement, often makes it hard for initial players to get that feeling of accomplishment.  Likewise, more established players often come to hate Eve because they reach a point where most of their progress is defined only in small % increases from a Level 1 to Level 2 skill.

2) The all or nothing death mechanic causes a lot of people to outright hate Eve (I don't personally hate Eve but I don't play Eve because of it).  Despite being a fan of PvP, the amount of time required to effectively prepare for or recover from, a failed PvP fight is not equivelent (or lesser than) the enjoyment I get out of the fight itself.
