So after being in beta for almost 2 months, and having to bite my tounge so many times on this forum when the trolls spewed garbage and said I knew nothing more than them, I can honestly say that I can see why so many people around the world are sitting at their computers for hours on end trying to preorder Darkfall. With already at least TEN THOUSAND people preordered, as they have closed preorders, the idea that the mmo community was sick of DF couldn't be further from the truth as the common sense crowd have been saying all along. Ten thousand for this niche market game is the equivalent of about 500,000 for WoW...and there are so many more people wanting to preorder. The game is beyond fun, but of course needs a LOT of polish and imo needed another delay (but then again what mmo doesnt need more polish on release). But the game is more fun than any game on the market right now for those looking for this kind of pvp experience that just isnt satisfied by the clones out there. They have put in multiple patches over the last 48 hours and hopefully are making sure they have a smooth launch. I think the staggered release is a good idea to ensure a smooth launch. After waiting so long, its worth it to wait a little longer to ensure a smooth release (i got my preorder in along with most of my guild). I am happy to be one of the tens of thousands of gamers wanting to play this "vaporware lol scam" tomorrow and the niche market it is targeting couldnt be happier. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. I was looking for a challenge, but these things are just too damn smart." -DF Beta Tester "If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos |

I'm happy for you. The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost. |

Perhaps you could explain how you've come to that conclusion? Is there some way it is quantitative? Can it be measured objectively? Are the DarkFall players paying 50 times more than a WoW player? Are the DarkFall players 50 times more committed than a WoW player? Are the DarkFall players 50 times better than a WoW player?
I'm just really curious how you came to the conclusion that 10k DarkFall players are the equivalent of 500k WoW players. It just seems a very illogical statement. Perhaps I'm missing something that you could further explain? Thanks. |

There are still tens of thousands more people who have tried to preorder and weren't able to because of Aventurine going with this staggered release. Hell there are a ridiculous amount, for this kind of game, of people in asia in which DF isnt availible to be preordered in that are still trying to preorder it.

Yea it is really doing a number on guilds, but if that what they need to do to have a smooth release then im ok with it. They will allow others to buy the game on the 25th, but i dont see it being any easier than preorders.

Yea it really wasnt meant as an exact calculation....more of a general comparison to show that the number of people in the community who enjoy ffa full loot pvp are much smaller than those that WoW appeals to. I think its safe to say that for every 1 person who likes full loot open pvp there are 50 people who like the themepark that is WoW. Obviously there is no super study to back this up, but when you see a game like EVE vs the what 10 million that WoW has, it isnt that far fetched. Again, it is just a random number to emphasize that Darkfall is targeting a market MUCH smaller than that of WoW, and that it is reaching its target market in a very effective way. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. see above....based on your post history, makes sense that you will jump at any little thing you can to desperately try to put the game down. all it does is attract more people to DF when they see people going out of their way to spread lies..thanks! ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. ohh man, it has started already fanbois are just grabbing and spinning every litle info they can to already call it a success, i honestly think they thought as soon as people could be honest about the game(AKA NDA lifted) it would be some kind of revelation but as many predicted its just an empty shell of its original concept, cant wait until tomorrow. I really liked the equivalent to 500k WoW pre-order LOOL that was just too funny, go imbant tells us some more of your pearls of wisdom.

Oh and another thing, I dont know if youve ever heard of a game called AoC, but that game basically proves that preorders mean nothing.

I see what the OP is saying about the WoW numbers. Darkfall being a niche game, and truthfully a niche within a niche, there is no possible way of ever capturing the numbers WoW has, being targeted to a more general audience, or even coming close. Comparing it to WoW isnt really right, the numbers that should be considred are how many subscribers do they need to make it a financial success and have an enjoyable game experience. *edit* also important to note that it isnt really box sales that matter. AoC had what? over a million box sales and less than 100k subs now? The player trend, either to or from the game is what really has to be considered, so you cant make an accurate prediction right now. Give it 2 or 3 months then there should be a trend to critique. |

They just want to see the train wreck, and to exploit early, exploit often. Besides its 5$ commitment, well, if they don't screw up billing. |

You don't have to spell it out for anyone. You were corrected. "Ten thousand" is a DIFFERENT NUMBER than "Tens of thousands".

I appreciate your time to explain what you meant without any personal attacks... makes for a much better reading experience for all concerned. |

"must trolll....regardless of the fact that im wrong......." The statement was "tens of thousands of people can't wait to play DF". Ten thousand have preordered already, many many more were trying to. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough.
