LOL. Seriously. Since when is FPS increase equal to graphics improvements. Get a clue. But still water looks a lot more realistic in DX10. So John is wrong on that part.

 

But to come to the point of the original OP:

Except some of the scenery in Vanguard and Age of Conan, nothing comes really close to LOTRO environments.

I am not here to troll against Darkfall. But saying Darkfall's graphics are on par with LOTRO is just plain silly!

I have now seen plenty of highres screenshots of Darkfall and while some of the graphic scenery isn't all that bad, still it doesn't even come close to the quality of textures and detail LOTRO provides.

the shadows are better than lotros on max and wait until we can enabled max settings for all settings

I pretty much gave up a week or two ago. Post a decent screen shot of the Alfar lands and prove me wrong! People can look at the screens shots here and make up there own minds. The main reasons I no longer play (and wont [play retail for a while yet) are that the game just feels sterile and lifeles. It just does not have 'charm'. The UI is pants too. Oh and the majority of things you do in game are mindlessly tedious macroing for a bit of inconsequetial pvp fun.

These are the same images that were doing the rounds on the Age of Conan forums -'' look at DX10 isnt it amazing'' they cried.. well actually these images are NOT screenshots.. DX9 water looks just fine when implemented in a decent engine..

i suspect an ok launch granted limited heh but that limit will allow for a smoother launch anyways unless when they enabled everyting some issues arise

i only macro at my keyboard when i harvest and its just simplified atm so they can get most of thef eatures in im sure improvemeants will be made like the devs have said they will allt hat matters is it works and thats all it counts for

Funnily enough I am which is why I laughed and spat food everywhere. Actually pretty much can't be bothered to log into DF anymore. Now if ypu comapred DF to that 1996 classic Hexen I would say yeah OK. In fact I chalenge you to tell the Alfar lands (particularly bad) from Hexen.

Some one post decent screens of Alfar land, I have yet to see any!

DF is more like Hexen 2 than the original  .

I thought LOTRO graphics sucked.

they were washed out and bland, the trees looked like shit, and so did the grass.

the water was about the only thing that looked good.

add to that you could not go anywhere you wanted, all the backdrops were just scenery painted on...

 Actually technology wise they seem to have things reasonably nailed. (Though I suspect when they have 10k concurrent users issues might appear). Looks like they have the 'placeholders' for lots of skills it's just I feel the gameplay needs quite a lot of work. Of course polish and balance are always ongoing but there are levels beyone which you have to say well xxx is functionaly broken. Time will tell.

DX10 is only to increase framerate? You are really misinformed. DX10 enables better lighting, shadows, etc. Played crysis? Inform yourself befor you post things that are just incorrect.

I've beta tested Darkfall and of all the things some of you pick to hate on it for, graphics are a dead end for you.    They are fine.   In fact, they are pretty damn nice.

Now if you want to bash on it, try the sounds and the lack of sounds and how the dev team fumbles the ball inside the 20 yard line.

Human and elf

The world really isn't that barren. Especially when there's other players around. The respawn on goblins int he human city is overwhelming if you're the only one there.

Im in the US, no lag at all. Like 150 or less ms ping time.
