I got the character error too, but i think that was for the captcha text and it seemed to work anyway because i checked my email saying i had been accepted or whatever.. even though i kept getting the error

Question: How many WoW players does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Answer: 0, Blizzard does it for them.

It's not that I'm so smart , it's just that I stay with problems longer.

K, this thread fails because, YES YOU CAN pre-order this game from Europe.

I dont know about the rest of Europe but a UK post code does not work as the Zip code needs to be in numbers and no letters.

You probably had your country listed as the United States, causing the zip code to only accept numbers. I put in my postal code and it worked. Canada uses numbers and letters too =/

However, I never ended up getting the pre-order as they sold out :S. 4 hours wasted. Ohwell I'm not too upset, try again Wednesday =)

Crim is right I know several people not from the U.S. that got preorder.

Unless it has changed in the last 4 hours it makes no difference what country you have selected the box will always be Zip Code.

I have been supportive of Darkfall, this is evident in my previous posts, but I am a european citizen, and if the Germans, Scandinavians,French, English and other european countries are descrimiated against then my good will quickly change and any support the european market may have offered you will quicky evaporate.

shame on you Tasos, you should know your home market better and you should understand that europeans dont like the preferential treatment that the US often enjoys. (not disrespect to our US friends)

If u look beneath the zip code box, ull see a box for ur country.

Set ur country first that invalidates the zipcode entry.

Then u can order fine, anything else is due to internet latency.

Its working for me now, but it was not working earlier

i was doing the exact same thing, so i assume aventurine did some changes to the online form.

other people have had this problem so i know its not a "user error" like some pepole seem to stubbornly state

as for this being my first MMORPG, i was playing MMORPGS when the person who made that statment was sucking on a bottle of milk, though back then we had Telnet with no graphics. in a response to that person i would like to say "you must be 14"

i also would like to know what that person has as a foundation for the statetment of this being my first MMORPG.

thanks

As for me, i will boycott this game, its to late to pre-order now, and mistreatment to my fellow europeans is one thing i wont stand for, thats why i only buy products with global released.  If we all adopted this same approch companies would start to realise that the european market wants to be treated equally

thats the beauty of Blizzard games and why they are so populare in europe, (also they are very good)

thats also why games such as Tribes , Auto Assault never really kicked off in Europe, if you come late to the EU market then your may as well throw your money down a drain. we dont take sloppy seconds.

1.  Darkfall is releasing in Europe first.

2.  World of Warcraft Release date(s)

AUS / NA November 23, 2004

EU February 11, 2005

Have fun back with your sloppy seconds .

Blood, i dont mind a 2 month difference in release date, thats probebly mostly to do with logistical/administration issues then any attempt to delay the european release.

In the US you dont often notice this, but lots of items are often delayed in EU, sometimes by a year, but when they finally do decide to release in EU it doesnt go so well for them in EU.

As for this being a european release primarily, it doesnt changet the fact that me and other users could not pre-order while the people with Zip codes, could.

Yeah I agree it sucks that you wanted to preorder and couldn't, I would be pissed too,

I wouldn't blame the company though.  Fact is there was only a limited number of places and some people were not going to get a slot.  Sounds like the website probably could have handled a lot better though.

I also would rather not have had US people on the server at all but they offered it as US release is still uncertain so are obliged to give them a fair chance of getting a slot.

Personally I am more annoyed about the lack of option to pay in pounds, this is supposed to be Euro release after all, not Eurozone release.  If no pound sterling payment option materializes I won't be playing.

While I was as frustrated as you and also had the postcode error problem this was mainly due to the United Kingdom Vs Great Britain issue hence it crashed if you tagged the wrong one and has still to be resloved. I am and many others are not able to correct our postcode problems due to this and i only have 2/3rd of my postcode filled in showing on my account details so when I tried to enter my C/Card details kept getting wrong details due to my incompleted postcode...

I have to say i also noticed that many people who have managed to get into pre-order are much higher from NA than Euroland and it will end up an empty server when NA migrate so this could end up being a real joke. I have since decided if they are unable to get this little problem right, then the chances of them runing the game right from day one seems pretty slim.

I am not trolling and hope the game does do well but the persons runing this game and delivering it need to look closer at themselves for sure, far to many mistakes in a very short time and the fact that the beta tester who linked the pre-order has been roumoured to be from NA and if that's the case then this needs to be resloved too. Steps need to be taken to give others from Euroland/rest of the world a fairer chance to enter on day one and balance up the population. By that i feel there should allow a 50/50 split of NA/Euro-world  from day one rather than allow NA to take control of this only server.

Sorry for slipping OT for a few, end of rant.

Bandit.

OP, get off your high horse and give it a rest.  Geez, so damn touchy and all over nothing.

DF was clearly launched towards the EU market, and one screw up on a web site pre-order form does not make them US centric. Heck, the Dev's for the most part are all from Europe and they've never showed any US favortism.

OK, you're pissed you missed out on the pre-order, stop hiding behind the false indignation about imagined slights.

You know what, most electronic devices come out in Japan/Asia before the US. Does that mean I won't buy them? No.  Many games come out in Asia first. (Aion, CoSB) but I'll still give them a try when they launch here?

Are you that insecure that you avoid purchasing products that release in the US? (cutting your nose off to spite your face as it were?)

I guess if that's what's important to you go for it.

Me, I've got bigger issues to concern myself with.

Bigger issues like solving world hunger on the MMORPG website?

pardon me, but if we are not supposed to discuss MMORPGS on this website, then i really dont know where else to go.

As for "one screw up" Lehman Brothers was also "one screw up"

Obviously I am not comparing the credit crunch crisis to this game

What i am saying is that UK, as far as im concerned got the short end of the stick, with there being limited Pre-order accounts available and UK account holders not being able to register.

I bought Guildwars only because i was able to Pre-order it, i ended up liking the game, but had i not had the option to pre-order it then i would not have bought it or the following expansions.

this may have been a mistake by Aventurine, but then they should rectify it by openining up a few extra account for the UK market specifically, as the UK market was the only market affected, it seems.

I mostly like playing with UK players, swedes like playing with swedes, germans like playing with germans, etc...

the demography of the game needs to be balanced, especially in such a Guild emphasised game

I am not a troll, i have supported this game when others have critisized it, but they have fallen out of favour with me, and im sure many UK players,  I hope this doesnt come and bite them in the arse later, but i think it will.

especially with Mortal Online around the corner, they should focus on getting as big of a market share as possible, before Mortal Online releases.

so op you refuse to watch any american movies, american tv shows, or american bands? or refuse to read any american books? ignorance must be bliss eh????? what about the fact that the game is by a european company, launching one and only server in europe tomorrow, and has shown no favortism in any way by having the game be downloadable by anyone from around the world? grow up and join the rest of the world when your ready

i would say there pretty good coders just really really suck at launching it lols but i know they will improve the game as time goes by and a pretty decent rate 2 but the game is in working condition with a few minor things like line in shadows /me hopes for release patch to fix that tho

Wooow, only a complete ***ard, could take this post, which is complaining about europe being ignored by a european developer, to being a post against america.

this is like a Chris Rock stand up show..

I didnt say that i dont watch american movies and american tv series and american peanuts.

i am demonstrating against the favoritism towards the US market, even by European companies.

This is not a post against america, but with some of the obvious retard, (pardon my use of language, but the way to describe some people is not really insulting when its true)in this post, maybe i should be posting stuff against america, as some people seem to think that asking for equal treatment to europe is the same as flamming america.

whats next? are you going complain that oranges are orange?  they should be red white and blue, otherwise they are against america? right?

XbellX, can you please grow up? every time someone ia asking for equality they are not flaming america. I think your childish mentality really needs to change, rather then me growing up, you should educate yourself more. or at least to a level which enables you to see the difference bettween wanting to be treated as equall and wanting death to america, its not the samething

the same applies to the person who posted above me

i think that everyone including me is frustrated by your ignorance in the first, third, and last paragraph. i could understand your point of view if you had something to complain about but you dont. you couldnt get the game preordered cuz it sold out so quick and now your panties are in a bunch. get over it. refer to my first post on why they are not catering to the USA. if you still dont understand then your a moron. all the fault is yours for not pressing f5 enough

edit: oh and btw i think that other ppl have already answered your question about the zip codes so there really isnt a reason to post again in this thread. have a good day (or night)

edit2: read the rest of the posts almost everyone thinks that your way overreacting. instead of asking a simple question you come in here talking about how much everything sucks cuz they had one little glitch in their account management. that same form that you filled out is the same thing everyone else filled out so dont think you get some special treatment. they were obviously too lazy to take the zip codes out where countries dont have them but they didnt oh well. its not a big deal

Out of curiousity, why do you get pissed off?  Why does your pride say 'it is insulting to not receive items first!'.  Why sort of principles apply with not buying products marketed to the U.S. before Europe?  U.S. sweat shops?  The U.S. spends and borrows more.  Get over it.

I do think it is odd for a European company with a European-based server to sell to the U.S. first, but this is also Adventurine.
