Go on the beta leak forums and read all their reviews. Especially read the manifesto (sp?). Saying it requires skill based on your opinion is fine, because it's an opinion. However telling everyone it is skill and that is that is simply a lie based on tons of other testers. People don't even have to just read things anymore, they can see in basically every video.
I suggest you jump off the tasos bandwagon and look at this game without bias.
Um i would rather go read the actual beta forums....instead of a beta leak forum....for opinions. You are just wrong man im sorry, ive been in game, spoken with guild mates, randos in game, and others on forums. Again SOME people think it is dumbd down, and again it isnt for everyone. But you are just factually wrong to say that only a few people dont think it is dumbd down. |

Typical fanboy response to someones post. Firstly you are on the opposite end of the spectrum to him where you only post the positive instead of negative. Second you have no argument so you jump to the vaporware insult.

I dont usually post on these forums but in this case i think it needed it. I think the combat isnt as good as it should of been but im guessing most of you have played games such as Oblivion and Morrowind.......is the combat in them games that much different than them really? When you have built up different skills etc as you progress i think it will be very good. The original poster of the thread is right. I think also if you can button map the game to a controller this could be a really great combat experiance like morrowind etc. |

because his post had a lot of constructive things to say right? and i jumped to teh vaporware insult because he has actually posted "lol vaporware" on this forum with 100% seriousness in the past in an attempt to troll. cant believe you say I have no arguement...arguement to what? i made a detailed op, and responded to someone who didnt have any substance in his post...there is no arguement to give against that. it is amazing how you guys are so bitter about DF and have no ground to stand on anymore that you have to reach for stuff like this...it is sweeter than saying "sorry we were wrong abotu DF" |

You should bother reading the thread...which specifically aims to give info from someone who has played the game vs watching videos lol. Watchign the videos does not give merit. |

I know its the third time I post that clip, but it just shows how wrong ur statement and others like it is.
Also i can guarantee u that the 30+ people in this vid does not agree that combat in DFO is simplistic in any way.
About the running.
As ive said before its human nature, when u have pvp with consequence ppl will run away, its a good thing actually, cuz its funny and it creates a lot more randomness to combat. This is by no means the first time its happend, UO had a LOT of running and Shadowbane has so much running that the famous quote: "Don't run ull only die tired!!" originated.
As the game progresses noobs will run and pros will learn, Its happend before and its happening again. Adding CC to the game must be done carefully, one guy running away from a ganksquad has no option but to run. Take that option away and he is left with zero options, thats not good gameplay.
I guess what im saying is that if u liked UO or Shadowbane then DFO is for u, if not then u need to "get it" before u can like it.

heh thanking people for the bump is my way of saying "your trolling is at least usefull to bump my thread" anyways i didnt bother responding to stayontarget's post because of the part you highlighted.... its laughable to read that he thinks that the side with the most numbers wins out. obviously he isnt in beta and has just reached his breaking point of bitterness and refuses to own up to him being wrong about DF all these years. Friendly fire my friend...makes a big difference. It is not like WoW when the larger group can lock on to a target and their fireballs magically pass through eachother unharmed and only dmg the target, and their aoes only hurt the enemy...lol. Also if you are fighting on something other than an open plane, numbers mean nothing to a certain extent. |

i have watched alot of the videos and i think the combat does look quite bland but sometimes simple is better. Really..what do you want from the combat? Silly combos where you can spin and jump all over the place lol? Or do you just want the same old crap thats in every other MMO at the moment? i aint saying the games gonna be great, it may well faill like everyone says but when it comes to the combat i think you cant really judge the melee combat of videos...i think alot of people may find a different story when the actually play for themselves. But as i said before is the concept of the melee combat that much different from the elder scrolls.....games that most people love? think about it lol! Id rather have very simple combat like simple swings and normal shots with a bow and arrow rather than the skills you find in every other MMO at the moment as it is more realistic. |

I noticed, I like it. It has that je ne sai quoi balance between annoying politeness and in ur face burn.
In anycase we are not out yet, the game needs to come out and prove that it can be succesfull. The first day will be lag hell (like every other MMO) and they will probably have to take the server down a few times. This will empower the trolls to no end, their last desperate stand. nvm the fact its completly natural in an MMO launch. No they will make more ridiculous assertions, claiming it proves the game is doomed and so on and so on, after this they are left with only the tidbits of the odd dissapointed player the game is bound to bring among its masses of content subscriber.
Trolls regenerate very quickly unfortunatly.

A bit off-topic here, but I like how you quote Yahtzee from ZP to make your sentences look more sophisticated. :P The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost. |

Doesnt matter what weapon you're using either, they all function exactly the same. So... You're telling me there's actually great skill involved? Maybe... But I know what I saw and read from testers.
The majority of n00bs that dont get the new skills or even just sit and camp n00b hunting grounds ar ethe ones that say this. Step into the BETA discussion and see what it looks like. This the most fun any of us PVPers has had. Even the beta "Trolls" will admit they've had fun in this game moreso than others. |

I can't believe that the new argument forming against DF is skill-less combat. I honestly can't believe it.
When you all actually get into the game, remember the name Andreus. If you're rolling with 2 friends, or better yet 1 friend, or better yet none... you're going down. I won't use stam or pots, and I'll most likely be wearing a combination of studded/chain/banded... armor not good enough to scare you away, but just enough to entice you to fight. I won't be wasting potions on you either. I'll probably eat an apple or some blueberries as the fight starts, and that'll be it. When the fight ends after a brief chase because you attempted to escape, take a look at my health. It's around 2/3rds. A giant neon "WTF" sign will illuminate in your mind. To turn the annoyingly bright light off, simply acquiesce that skill is a huge factor in DFO.
Or maybe you will roll me. Statistically speaking, that isn't very likely to happen, as I've only been truly trounced by 3 people out of hundreds I've fought in beta. I'm primarily a solo PK btw, roaming alone in enemy territory, rambo style. It's been awesome. Skill-less combat... lmao, gimme a break. _______________________________________________ The noob formally not known as not being the formally not unkown known APEist; The Stone Cold Killer of Tarq. |

I think we can all agree the combat in mount and blade looks better. You have to do particular moves to block attacks from a particular direction. Really simply system which works well. My main concern with DF is the running back and forth and the lack of sense of warriors being locked in combat Partly due to the excessive speed and what looks more like "dogfighting" by running past enemies and getting a hit. In MB you could not simply turn around and start running without pretty much dieing or losing lots of health (well on hard anyways). It just doesn't look as cool as MB and every fight seems like it needs "can can" music to it. They really need to do something about the running around. Once your locked into melee then the option is fight. Running is only an option for the beginning or desperate (and unlikely to work) ending. Likewise where the heck are shields and blocking ? Not seen a single arrow in a shield yet. So much for any 300 style tactics eh ? |

You wont need 9 hotkeys, just left mouse and T to switch attack direction.Unless youre using one of the few available melee skills of course,in which case youll need another 5. |

Never played MB, but with full loot there is no way runnign away isnt an option, im not loosing my gear to some gank squad unless they can catch me.
