If a forum mbr has 2604 post in just under a year, all of them in the same game forum and with the same tone, why would you bother arguing with him? |

Either you think it's fun and play it or not, all games have their good and bad points. But if DF isn't the game you wanted, you can always hope for Mortal online that will release later this year. It seems to be a lot closer to UO then DF who is more FPS based. To be honest the things I read so far about the game is actually better then I expected, maybe I give it a try once they make a free trial in a couple of month even though I keep my eyes more on MO and WODO for my sandbox hopes. |

All weapons are the same and do the same damage!!! All the skills are essentially the same. It is a massive skill grind. Crafting is boring beyind belief. There is no player economy and only 3 resouces?. Combat is about potions not skill and appears tedious and repetative. So much for an oblivion style FPS combat experince. Seiging is broken. The interface and chat looks appauling.
Enjoy giving them your money, this game will be dead in 6 months. I called it with POTBS and i'm calling it here. This game is a dead man walking.
Omg you mean my 2 Handed Great Club that does acid damage does the same dmg as a Defier blade? Oh wait, no they don't. Weapons have different reaches, and different dmg's. My Hammer out damages halbreds of the same rank, yet has a shorter reach meaning I have to get up closer than they do.
Combat is about aiming, stamina management. Potions help, as does food. to players equal in skill and gear sure the first one that runs out pots is going to die first, but pots and food don't give you as much stmina/healt/mana as you are under the impression they do lol. It's not even all in one shot, it adds like a regen effect lol.
Crafting is a bit borring and I think it needs work, better than AoC's atleast lol.
Chat needs some love to, not many like it as is.
Sieging isn't working the way many would like, most seem to want the SB system rather than the current system. But it is not broken, several towns have been successfuly defended and several have been sieged successfuly and taken over. So I guess you should say it isn't the way you like, it is not however broken. Again some love there with tweaks and such wouldn't hurt.
In Beta there really isn't any player economy. Let me say that again, in BETA there is no player economy. While boards or player owned stores or things like that really need to be put in, I am selling ingots, Wood, Steedgrass, Ore, Sulfur and other reagents needed for some spells simply by advertising in clan chat and race chat.
All in all it seems you have not experienced the game for yourself and have listened to others and made you own conclusions. That is fine and I wish you well, but don't try and pnader this bs to me seeing as how I know for a fact you are incorrect on almost all of your points.
no skill involved when it all comes down to who can suck the quickest...I mean pots...wheres the skill in that? |

He stated it as fact. He states it as if we all agree with him. That's why it's bullshit.

To the OP i wouldn't call it fail from my personal experience with the game. The game in it's current state is more like
Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray* |

OP, I don't know what you were looking for with DFO, but most of the testers I know (out of ~300 only 20 are not preordering) believe the flaws and missing elements are likely to be resolved. Right now this game is by far the most stable MMO I've ever played at this stage (it's far more stable than most launches actually), and almost all of the core elements of the game are working and working argueably quite well. Most of the testers are having a blast playing. The problem is, I believe, that the vocal minority is blowing things way out of proportion for the misinformed. If you have any direct questions about the game I'll be happy to answer them for you. It'll be awhile after release (because demand to play this game is far greater than they anticipated), but once they have their servers sorted out there should be a free trial for you to see for yourself.

I think he overstated his point, but I do know and have personally spoken to/played with about 300 beta testers, and the vast majority like the game enough to preorder it. They aren't head-over-heels in love with it, but most have been having a lot of fun playing and believe they will continue to enjoy it at release. I have no idea if these clanmates represent the average players well, because many were longterm followers of DFO, but I would say there is probably some truth to the majority having overall positive feelings about the state of beta so far.

I admit i havent even read the first post but from the title..... It's not out yet! how can it be a fail i dont understand :) and not just a fail, but a "massive fail" come on i gotta hear this one. and due to the poor choice in title i refuse to go back and read prior to this post, the title just does not deserve it. |

I find that description very accurate and im in beta since a month, you can like or dislike the game but they need to work on some issues that can be game breaking to some of us, i for example wont buy the game because the mele combat system, its just a LBM click fest in my opinion. |

I've been beta testing the game. Yes, the click fest is annoying. I don't think it is a failure but it's not as great as I thought it would be. I think there will be plenty of people who get into it. As someone who followed it for years, I expected a little more. So yes, my view is probably tainted by my expectations. I was looking for more of a UO type experience with depth. Whether you like this game or not, you can't say that it is a deep game. Maybe just focusing on PvP rapid clicking and doing nothing else is what gets you going. I've been PvPing for years and see some real potential in this game but right now I am not interested. Testing it was not AWFUL but it wasn't amazing either. I won't be pre-ordering. I'm going to give it some time to mature and see how it goes down. I'm open to the idea of playing it in the future. Is it a failure or is it amazing? The truth will be in the middle for most people. On the other hand, if you were looking for some kind of deep environment with all kinds of gameplay aspects, yes, it is a failure in its current form. If you're looking to rapid click pvp all day then it is a smashing success. Have a winner and don't go on a game over! Does your avatar make you powerful in real life? the game is just too niche for me..plus the view is first person =/ ( thats a game breaker for me in a mmo) it isnt a real sandbox for me....it is heavily focused on pvp and is shallow in the pve dept. a good sandbox mmo should have equal parts crafting, pve and pvp while being skill based to be a real sandbox. so it isnt the "next great thing in mmo's" so I will continue to play AOC and Vanguard. (with Vanguard being closer to a sandbox game then Darkfall is albet with classes instead of skills) I think it will garner a nice sized loyal fanbase but it will most likely just hold people over until Mortal online comes out =/ |
