Although a self confessed fanboi, I will not be buying DFO.

I have read all the reviews and the game looks horrible.  I was hoping for Mount & Blade online but it seems Darkfall has fallen short of most fanboi's hopes.

The problems don't appear to be cosmetic but fundemental design flaws.  When EVE launched in 2003 it was a shell of what it is now but the game was still fundementally fun as the core system was well designed.  This does not appear to be the case with Darkfall.  It appears the key processes and systems are shallow, poorly thought out and essentially boring.

What will I do now?  Give up on MMORPG's.  The glory days have gone..........

almost all games have free trials, do what i did for a couple months post SWG, keep trying different trials until you find one you like,.....me, i settled on 2, EVE for my pvp sandbox do anything game, LOTRO for pve and storytelling.

I read the OP and have spent the past 10 minutes trying to understand how DFO is a massive fail.

In regards to what I am going to do, I am going to continue playing the Beta, Pre-order and play at launch lol.

Bullshit.  I have beta tested for 2 weeks and I love the game.  If I were not in class id be playing it right now.  Almost everyone in beta loves the game, and most of the reviews have been positive.  But you were never going to play now were you?

Yeah, couldn't think of any reason DFO could be considerd a massive fail so gave up.

I will be doing the same thing as far as gaming goes, WoW off and on and then some UO classic while waitng for Empire Total War and MLB The Show 09. Almost everyone beta loves the game??? Are you in beta? I suggest reading the beta forums and playing pass the goblin camp and then you would know how this is a massive fail.........

It's BS because the op's opinion does not bolster "strongaxe"s personal self-worth.  Remember if you do not love Darkfall, if you do not want to kneel before Tesos then you are a troll.  The biggest turn off for this game is the mentality of the rabid fanbase.

Well.. the subject is misleading.. Darkfall hasn't failed.  We won't know if it's failed for at least a year.  And it's only truly failed if no one is playing it or it's not still running.

But his post is just fine.  It's his opinion, which Strongaxe doesn't realize.  It's an OPINION, look up that word when you get a chance, it'll make the forums a lot and i Mean ALOT better for you.

Not everyone is going to enjoy Darkfall, and it seems people don't understand that.    It may have nothign to do with the graphics, and it may have nothing to do with the game play, it may have to do with the entire package.  Believe it or not,  you could love the basics behind darkfall, yet still not find darkfall to be amazing.  I know it seems like a hard sell.. that someone might be different than you, and that it's okay for them to have an opinion that's different that yours.. but it's true.

Probably the OP is referring at review threads like mine which list the bad elements of the game as well as the good.

But because a game has its bad points, it doesn't necessarily means the game is bad...............people just need to read through the lines.

All weapons are the same and do the same damage!!!  All the skills are essentially the same.  It is a massive skill grind.  Crafting is boring beyind belief.  There is no player economy and only 3 resouces?.   Combat is about potions not skill and appears tedious and repetative.  So much for an oblivion style FPS combat experince.  Seiging is broken. The interface and chat looks appauling.

Enjoy giving them your money, this game will be dead in 6 months.  I called it with POTBS and i'm calling it here.  This game is a dead man walking.

Omg you mean my 2 Handed Great Club that does acid damage does the same dmg as a Defier blade? Oh wait, no they don't. Weapons have different reaches, and different dmg's. My Hammer out damages halbreds of the same rank, yet has a shorter reach meaning I have to get up closer than they do. 

Combat is about aiming, stamina management. Potions help, as does food. to players equal in skill and gear sure the first one that runs out pots is going to die first, but pots and food don't give you as much stmina/healt/mana as you are under the impression they do lol. It's not even all in one shot, it adds like a regen effect lol.

Crafting is a bit borring and I think it needs work, better than AoC's atleast lol.

Chat needs some love to, not many like it as is.

Sieging isn't working the way many would like, most seem to want the SB system rather than the current system.  But it is not broken, several towns have been successfuly defended and several have been sieged successfuly and taken over. So I guess you should say it isn't the way you like, it is not however broken. Again some love there with tweaks and such wouldn't hurt. 

In Beta there really isn't any player economy. Let me say that again, in BETA there is no player economy. While boards or player owned stores or things like that really need to be put in, I am selling ingots, Wood, Steedgrass, Ore, Sulfur and other reagents needed for some spells simply by advertising in clan chat and race chat. 

All in all it seems you have not experienced the game for yourself and have listened to others and made you own conclusions. That is fine and I wish you well, but don't try and pnader this bs to me seeing as how I know for a fact you are incorrect on almost all of your points.
