Tacos: Guys, guys, the game is in no state for release next week, what am I going to tell all the fans?
Junior developer 1: Could we pretend we are under another DDOS attack and take down the forums for a few weeks?
Tacos: No, no, they wouldn't fall for that again, we need something more believable.
Junior developer 2: How about we switch our billing and distribution company at the last minute - then we can blame someone else for the holdup?
Tacos: You stupid mousaka! I should send you back to the isle of lesbos, idiot! Where have you been? We already tried that!! Anyone else?!
Lead developer: There's only one thing we can do
Tacos: What's that old friend?
Lead developer: Turn off everything in-game that isn't finished, and advertise it as 'sandbox'
Tacos: Brilliant!! No wonder I pay you the big bucks!
Lead developer <mumbling>: ..actually I haven't seen a single drakmar in 7 years.. <mumble mumble>

With only 1 server they could very well say : Sorry folks! Server is full so we stopped distribution for now. It is going to take another month before we can open another one. Please be patient and understand why we are keeping the NDA (without any other explanation). |

Darkfall has been a sandbox MMO from day 1.
1/10.
It still amazes me people hold an indie developer up to higher standards of game quality, punctuality & development communication than any of the major MMO studios. bewildering. |

Drakma, not "drakmar" was the former monetary unit of Greece, apparently the OP dont know the true name and also he doesnt know Greece uses Euro now.

It's a single world. One shard. It's like Eve. You don't add a new server, you build on the infastructure to support more concurrent players; just like CCP has been doing. Or if they have a great enough demand, as far as NA users go, they will build another cluster to support the NA player base. Something else I got from the interview. I'm beginning to suspect that there a lot of people out there that don't fully understand that when you log into the game you'll be logging into the same shard as everyone else. No choosing realms or servers; so no, "just add another server later". The OP was pretty lame, looked like a lot of troll baiting to me. |
