As I see it they are aiming for a lot of preorders at the stage where they have payed the whole amount but still not being able to connect to the server, and a minimum number of players well controlled. Something like 100.000 and 10.000, to be able to go to 200.000 and 20.000 controlling the posts in the forums after lifting the NDA. 200.000 x 50euros = 10 milion euros. From then on, we will know the real truth about Darkfall. Be careful, you can be one of the 90% paying and not playing. Hope I'm wrong. (not really lol) |

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

This is all coming from the guy who just a few months ago said that the entire 'pre-order' system was a scam by companies who were afraid to let you see their product. A few months ago he said players would be able to play for free before paying anything. So many things have changed in just a few months. The funniest part of all this will be watching the people who post here in a few weeks about being 'scammed'. Anyone who pre-orders this game deserves to be ripped off. There have been plenty of warning signs that you are ignoring. |

Alright so we are .. what ? .. one week or so from launch and there suddenly an annoucement on how to buy the game yet no one in any decent game selling company has heard of it ? We have no info on the number of server and no launch date for America ? Leaks are there but don't look good and aventurine themselves are so stupid as to make a decent series of videos showing off all those features ? Ohhhhhkay.... If aventurine are an "indie company" then certainly there doing it all wrong. Iron fisted moderators, NDA stil in effect and now levels of charging to get a place to get a pre-order. Seriously, if they are stuggling to accomodate people in the first period then this should have been annouced way back before Christmas. Sorry but aventurine are just morons though again I am veering towards scam city. This game I highly suspect is an absolute bag of crap... promising only VERY small fraction of the cited gameplay list. There is simply no transparency here. Costs are vague, leaks are not looking good and the hordes of seething fanbois are at the door. Oh I think I am going to make a FFA PVP "indie" MMO for the "hardcore".... of course I will be on a plane with a sack load of cash to X country, by the end of it. If aventurine are an "indie company" then I don't think I want another indie company to touch an MMO ever. This is just poor and more poor by the minute. Good job aventurine is not exactly an indie from there given budget. Sorry fanbois but I think your about to get massively shafted.

If they had 10 million dollars (much less Euros and the 45 million in bonds), they'd think they died and went to heaven... ~Ripper |

U know im going to compare this to war and AoC, not to mention wotlk. Even Tabula rasa and Hellgate london had budgets that dwarf this by far.
I understand that there are indie companies who have less, and obviously if u have no way of lending money or getting a sponsor u have NO money, and nothing will get done, in which case Darkfall would truly have been Vaporware. As it is they are lucky enough to actually have a budget and so can afford a limited release, without it they wouldnt even have that.
