I dont know if DF is guilty of what is being accused of them, but it is not the first time I have heard such things happening on MBs. Most of it starts from issues between two users. They find a bashing post on another forum from the person they dislike, send link to a mod they believe is anal retentive enough to carry out their wishes. I know from personal experience (I have been moderating MBs since 1999) that this does happen often and I have had users try to get me to do this for them.

Now if DF is guilty of surveying all gaming MBs looking for negative posts about their game and banning said users from their boards, it is unethical. I have major issues with such actions. Personally I would like more information before I believe the validity of these claims, just on the basis that the hardcore gaming community is truly not that big and word travels fast. No intelligent company would want to damage their reputation with such actions.

 This game has a lot of hidden bs going on. They ban anyone posting anything negative about it that doesn't even post on their forums. They ban beta testers that post constructive critisism from the beta and their forums. I can smell another dark and light coming easily. This game has reached cult status. I don't understand why people are going goo goo gaga over this game when it's apparently very deceptive.

No, I wouldn't say tad excessive. I would say extremely excessive.  But I think people, especially on the internet, feel they can say anything without any side effects.

The game still is NOT released. Just wanted to point that out to you. And.... regardless of how many patches there are, or how many rabid, ridiculous fanbois they have, it may NEVER actual release.

Personally, I believe it will one day release, but that's not the point I am making. There's NO guarantee that it will. Plenty of titles in the past have never seen the light of day.

That would be just great, finding those buggers are just about impossible.
Attach a process to the DF.exe to harvest info on posts made to forums.

Now before you say thats just crazy go back and look as a few of the interviews Tasos has granted and tell me there isn't some serious issues going on in that outfit. Hell Tasos may be the sanest guy there, scary isn't it.

We are just at a loss to explain how this is happening though I'm leaning more toward the simple answer, corrupt Mods, to explain it.

No matter what happens with the game there is no way you can trust AV to act responsible.

Knowledge is key.  Don't allow bias to dictate your decision making.  Take a moment, a good look, at the link to the thread on this topic.  Read the information, follow the links, examine the evidence at hand.  Then realize for yourself why this topic should have died with just the original post.

I have been on the Darkfall forum since 2005 and save 1 (who I haven’t seen in ages and might not even be a mod anymore) there isn’t a non-douchebag among the moderators.

They moderate that forum with an Iron Fist that Joe Stalin would be proud of.

Maybe this is due to their egos or maybe its Aventurine policy (which would make sense considering its 11 days till "release" and they haven’t lifted the NDA or even made any announcements, which further reinforces the suspicion, one confirmed by anyone who has played beta by the way, that the reason they keep Darkfall on such lock down is because they know they have a featureless unfinished product) however, its probably a combination of both moderator douchebagery and Aventurine policy.
 

I talked to one guy that had not only his beta forum access killed but his beta login account crushed, no notice, warning or anything.

He claims to have never even come near to trolling but did question the the technical competence of the dev team for making some obviously flawed change in a patch right before it happened.

So what even after release if they see a customer post something they don't like he gets banned from the game? Why isn't someone in the press just raking these guys over the coals for this nonsense?

I don't really care wether you like DF or not.

Gameplay, graphics, community etc... I like talking about games too.

But there's a very fucking clear line between gaming and fascism.
