Well, I'm 41 and not a kid. I have a decent but not top of the line computer and the game runs very well for me. Perhaps that really is your problem, if you beta test a lot you are a bit too senstivie to issues. I think the issues that I see with Vanguard are completely workable. And as I've said, I've not seen this memory leak (though I understand that at one point the game had one) as the game runs pretty smooth. The problem I have with your assertion is that your title insists that the game is beyond hope and should just be set aside for other things. This would be a disservice as I think there is a lot to this game that others might enjoy. The game runs fine in my opinion and also based on my experience. It might run fine for others too. If this is the case then they might find a fun and rewarding experience. They should try it out for themselves as long as they approach it without the "this is going to be like WoW" mentaltiy. |

Very impressive , the 3 replys to my last forum where all in my age range. Im 46 hence Walkerboh63, Yes Ionselon i do love Terry Brooks. Even though he based alot of the 1st 3 books on JRR TOLKIEN. Just the characters & basic story line. But the rest of the story was pure Brooks very entertaining. I also loved Joel Rosenbergs Guardians of the Flame series. Ever read John Bellairs The face in the frost. Its fantastic. SHAME HE ONLY WROTE THE ONE BOOK. Sorry getting of subject. The kids part of just toward Fawdown. Want to place bets he or she responds and says she is as old as us? Which im sure would be very improbable. Thats why i put in my forum that some did understand like you Sovrath & Shol. I do agree i was alittle harsh with the burial line. I think they could do alot better and its not worth the price tag they charge. Guild wars works great and its free. So lets compromise. Vanguard charge $9.99 to encourage more new players. Change their system engine to either EQ2 or SWG untill they can lower the performance requirements for the engine they currently use. Yes it can be done and remarkably in a fairly short time. No servers will be effected players wouldn't even know about it untill the did a patch its like updating a old graphics look to new. That to will bring in more lower spec players who can't afford better systems. Im sure you will argue that alot of systems know are lower end but im not convinced. I take my computer when beta testing up and down several system ranges to test all functions. That way game stays open to players new and old and gets better quicker. They have had alot of time and need to change their stubborn ways. All will be happer in the end. I do truly app all your comments and opinions. Sincerly Walkerboh63. Peace |

Engineers have a word ("suboptimization") for describing when there is an irresponsibile focus on a single goal to the detriment of the entire organization.
SOE does not seem committed to developing Vanguard with the speed and resources necessary to take it to the next level. The game has been released for a number of years now, and yet some of us still closely follow its progress.
SOE's determination of where to take Vanguard will be a watershed moment and have more lasting impact than any event hithertofore:
SOE does not have the resources to accomplish all (any?) of these ends. The question SOE must ask, perhaps even confront, is this: whether to use resoruces to (1) attract new players or (2) keep old players. Management would ideally try to accomplish both, but the resources seem so scrace that neither new players nor old players would be satisfied.
Reengineer and Retrofit To achieve cost savings, Vanguard perhaps should relook at old zones designed for low levels and change those for higher level players. The need to add additional zones, and dungeons, in this vast world seems like a small need, indeed. As far as retrofitting is concerned, it should do what it is doing in terms of looking into AA point abilities and seeing how developments in the industry can be applied to the game for a deeper experience. Is it possible to have a truly unique character in the world that is more than surface fluff? Sure. Incomplete Content The world still has vast areas and dungeons that are not finished. The game simply needs more resources to achieve anything - for both new and old players.

Seems someone else is thinking. Impressive indeed. Open debate is always an inspiration to many. Alas i probable won't comment much more at least this weekend it seems i have a cold and feel rather odd. But please everyone keep it going maybe someone at Sony ( Vanguard ) may be listening. Peace
