You really think you can compare the learning curve to EVE? That's like comparing Diablo to Dwarf Fortress. Darkfall may be called a lot of things, but no thinking man could ever accuse it of having particularly complex mechanics. |
but the people playing beta as well as a huge amount of pvp oriented guilds are already planning on playing, even if improvements arent made between now and launch
Improvements? I thought the game was already more stable than any other mmo in history and fully feature complete? Its been at launch state for a while now hasnt it? isnt that what 'the Bill Gates of Greece' said himself? Or do they mean when the mobs are put into the game? Exactly how is Darkfall a sandbx now anyway, seeing as cities have to be built in predetermined spots ala conan and theres also no player housing? Without being able to impact and shape the world, its more like Shadowbane. |

Enjoy it while you have it if Aventurine doesn't change their ways. I disagree. I now nothing of what expectations the developers have of the game, but I doubt Darkfall will get massive subscription numbers, specially not at first. This is a borderline Indie game, while the production value is almost on par with mainstream games, its not quite there and the massive amount of money most mmo launches spend on advertising is missing completly. But thas fine, at least for me. There is a crowd out there of roughly 250 - 750 thousand people that like me are looking for a better MMO. ppl that tried AoC, Warhammer online and even Tabula Rasa and Hellgate London. People who are dedicated gamers looking for that next game to dedicate themselves to. AoC having failed to capture our attention and Warhammer only achieveing it for a short time we are getting more and more desperate for something new and better to actually manage to get the formula right. And THAT formula has NOTHING to do with graphics my friend, I assure you.
So my prediction for Darkfall will be about 500 thousand people once the EU and US launch finishes and hopefully grow to a million by the end of the year, and those will probably be the numbers for awhile. Eve is about that I believe.

More likely 50 thousand on release if they get that lucky and 100-150 thousand at best if they survive the first 6 months, but that's just my prediction Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray* |

The current beta test applications are already way past 50 thousand, frankly id be surprised if Darkfall launches with anything less then 250 thousand.

We shall know soon enough, from what ive seen the great majority of the beta testers are happy with the product so far and so most likely will join it for launch.

We KNOW its not a debate... Its nonsense. I do not care how devoted you are to a game... Wait for release.... then open your mouth. Please. Just do that.. right now, the only trolls on MMORPG.com are the Darkfall fans. You trash the whole MMO community to defend an amateur project... Most of us has played UO since beta, we know everyhting about both sandbox and open PvP: EXTREMLY few bash the concept of Darkfall. 99% ONLY bash the low quality of the amateur project. If you had ANY sense left in your body you would know that by now. But you don't. So you continue to pester mmorpg.com 500 times a day with imaginary tales, lies, propaganda and pure fanaatic rambling, all the while trashing the whole mmo community.. Just wait for release... Just wait for Roma Victor II here, then please... Come in here, and do not apologize to me... Apologize to the staff at mmorpg.com for your trolling and nonsense. it's pathetic and tiring in the extreme.. its a GAME for gods sakes, not your life philosophy! "This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly. |
