You are standing in a hallway of locked doors; each door has a small window you can look through. Every door also has a plaque that describes to you what you might expect to find behind that particular door. Many people gather outside these doors, waiting for them to open. Some people read the plaques on all the doors and wait by the one that interests them the most. Some people don't know how to read, so they just ask the people waiting what is behind each door. One door in particular seems to be attracting a large crowd. Evidently, the plaque on this door claims to open a world like no other; with truly unique sights and adventures. Of course, some people don't just believe everything they read so they decide to take a peak through the little window. "Hey, that there looks like a big skunk, that's nothing new nor exciting!" One of the people waiting looks in, "That's not a skunk, that's the great white-striped black cat!" They begin to argue for quite some time. People waiting by the other doors are a little bored and notice all the arguing. So they begin to question each side just to pass time. "Even if it is a skunk, why do you care?" "Umm have you even been sprayed by a skunk?"..."And what is so great about a great white-striped black cat anyway?" "Uhhh it was created by the genius Tasos; he promised it would be awesome!"..."How did he do that?" "He keeps slipping us notes under the door" The bickering goes on and on and on...eventually the skeptics get tired of talking and want some action. "So, if this Tasos wants us to believe that what appears to be a skunk is actually something very very different, why doesn't he let us play with it for a bit?" "Uhhh its not ready yet, just be patient, Tasos has no reason to lie to you." One day, after much waiting; after many other door had already been opened, and many more adventurers started to gather by the door with all the arguing, Tasos announced that he was going to let some people in to see for themselves the great world he had created. He said many people would be allowed in, but for some reason the door jammed as people were filing in and only a few got in. Reports from the inside were few and far between. Most of them were good, but that might have been due to the fact that most of the people who got through the door, were first in line; most of them were not skeptics. A few reports did come back explaining to everyone that the great white-striped black cat was indeed a skunk. "See, I told you it was a freaking skunk!!" "Uhhh just because 1 guy says its a skunk, you believe him?" "Have you ever been sprayed by a skunk? Now why I could care less if you get sprayed by one, I will certainly not stand here and let innocent people walk into this trap" "Uhh so you are just gonna stand here and tell people not to go through this door just because you think there is a skunk behind it? That's lame!" "Obviously you have never been sprayed by a skunk" |

People come here to bash the game because they had high hopes for it and found out the game sucks big time balls. I mean I didn't care about the game myself, but I was going to try it when there was a trial. But the graphics and animations on this game are so terrible that it wouldn't matter how good gameplay was. However gameplay doesn't seem all that great either so what have you got? A complete pile of bullsh**! |

You can answer your own question. Why did you create a new account just to bash the people who criticize the game? Do you have any more or less right to post your complaints then anyone else? By making this post you validate the rights of all the critics and trolls to post what ever complaints they want, good job! -Atziluth- - Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. |

Wow you think he is bashing the critics and not both sides? Do people even read threads here anymore or just read the topic and come in with their epeen flying around all exposed? |

Quite simply, people are bored. Reasons such as "people are scared of DF" or "You're just a carebear afraid of full loot" are quite frankly laughable. The fact is that DF has one of the most overzealous communities in the industry, and often comes across as arrogant and self-important. Of course folks are going to bash a game that is represented by a crowd like that. To quote Newton's third law: "To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." |

This has to be one of the most ridiculous, major stretch analogies I've seen in quite some time from a one post wonder... Nice try bro |

Question? Are you testing the game and if not how would you know it doesn t do it justice? Not bashing just curious. I ve read many , well i m testing it, or i know someone who is, just to defend their game. I can tell you from what I ve seen it looks terrible. If they released a trial or OB then they could prove me wrong, but until then it will always look terrible. Definate wait till it s out along time to try it , or try it free. |

Let me guess the OP is your friend or something. Who even says "epeen" anymore? It was stupid when some wack job made it up to begin with. Yes I read what the OP said, but the subject of the matter is still there. The game sucks. People are either too high or too excited over something they have no idea about to realize that. Just like Spellborn seemed promising. Come back and talk to us when the game is released and you've played it. I don't know about everyone else, but betas these days to me, are almost always a direct representation of official release builds. So all those videos we saw. Those are not like Darkfall at all? Ok so what game were we seeing when we saw those? Animations are not going to be changing and the game mechanics are still going to be like that when the game is released. I've heard of devs not putting in the official release textures, but never animations and combat mechanics. Seriously, just come back when you've cooled down and aren't acting like such a fanboi tool. |

His post then rambles on with no real direction. I do not see any post here that talks about graphics, so why are you? The funny thing about these threads is that often the complaints about the complainers brings out secret concerns by the fanbois. If you have no problems with the graphics and no one is complaining about them in this thread, then why even mention it. I personally have no issues with the graphics and have not mentioned them in a long time even as an ardent critic on these boards. I guess that tells everyone something about each other, I am not concerned with graphics and you secretly are. I expect the "hardcore PvP" fanbois to disappear from the game within 3 months. Their expectations and actual skill will be found wanting. If the game is not completely horrible and unplayable (and indications so far is that it is not) then the rest of us more reasonable people will enjoy the game. It is far more likely and ironic that the critics will most likely play the game longer then the rabid fanbois. This has been the case in many other games. -Atziluth- - Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. |

First off, I've actually been sprayed by a wild skunk in real life. It was hardcore and it was bad. It will burn and its like being hit with tear gas. (true story not an analogy) Second, I've also raised a skunk as a house pet from a baby. It was never descented, never sprayed anyone but our outside dog that acted aggressive to it once. It was actually the most beautiful, friendly and well behaved house pet I've ever had before it grew to a full adult and we let it return to the wild. (true story and not an anology) Third, I am a Darkfall supporter but I really really love your analogy. That was an excellent way to put the current issues with Darkfall, the waiting public and Tasos into perspective. Very well done. Lastly, I have been through that door and I saw that creation. It wasn't exactly as I had hoped or anticipated but it was very impressive in its own rights anyways. I want to stay in there. |

I can't answer that I guess or some troll will report me and i'll get a temp ban, or a ban(If I was to answer yes, which I am not). I guess I can say if you have ever watched a youtube video of a previous game and then tried controlling a character and moving around the world, you know moving the mouse and pressing W, then you will understand how the youtube vids don't do it justice. First a fraps video drops your frame rate quite low, and then even with that raw footage a short 3 minute video can grow to 5+ gigabytes. This has to be compressed to all hell. Is it that hard to wait for the game to come out and judge the reactions by the masses then? I don't mean these forums either cause I guarantee no matter how good the game is they will turn into a trollfest. |

I m agreeing to wait till after, I wouldn t do it any other way. Will i take the masses word for it, no way, just read the forums here. Who is telling it how it is. As far as the you tube vids, I m aware of that. There are plenty of leaked vids out there, and I ve seen some that are better then others. What they all still show me is a very amateur looking game. This is my opinion and is the reason i won t try it till i have played it free, wheteher it s a friends account or a free trial. Sorry to upset the fanbois, but this game to me looks like it was made in a rush not the years it has taken. |

To answer the OP the best that I can - You yourself are standing outside that very room you describe so elegantly... And you finally get the opportunity yourself to walk in and explore it! You are so excited, you can hardly hold it all in! When you walk in, you find that your own body movements have now become ragged and erratic. That single skunk seems to be the ONLY other life in the whole open world, so you decide to mingle with it (fight it) to find out first hand if it is indeed a skunk or a white-stripped cat. But before you get to it, your legs become frozen in place and you can hear the beeping of what sounds like some electronic device giving out error signals over the background noises. You can't move! You flail about and try with all your might to move even an inch, but it is useless. The next thing you see is that very skunk which is indeed a skunk spray you with 3,423.7000005 spray damage and you fall dead just before the whole world goes blue before your eyes (blue screen of death, BSOD). That, my friend is the reason that some people proceed into the room like the one you have described with caution. Some people have ventured into such overwhelmingly promising rooms before. {smiles} But you enjoy that skunk when the door opens to you, likely after you slide your credit card through a certain device on that door somewhere first... Actually I liked your OP fine, and it was clever and original. I am just trying to answer the main question you ask with the title of your thread here.

If you are expecting all the bells and whistles and shiny polish of the other games with 200-400 employees and 100+ million dollar budgets you won't find it here. What you will find is a very good concept, a solid core game, and a lot of really fun gameplay. I truly believe they will make enough money to continue to grow the game, and maybe in a year you can check back and see if it has the polish you need. Only an individual can figure out how much polish they need to enjoy the core game. I think that it definitely doesn't do anything but give a good initial impression like WAR. It's the core game that you will experience and know after a few weeks of play when the honeymoon period wears off. This game has soul, and I will leave that for anyone to figure out on their own. Read the forums here? They tell it how it is? You have got to be kidding me haha. I guarantee these forums will get trolled for months by people who have never even logged into the game. Look at reviews around the internet by little known low budget review companies who have nothing to gain or lose and will be subjective and take those unbiased reviews and make a judgment on if the game will entertain you. |
