Eve Online is a ganker's paradise because you must pass through these narrow gates called "wormholes" as you travel from one zone (system) to another zone (system), and a PVP'er can "web" you making movement impossible as you get ganked. Looks like there will be no "gate camping" in darkfall, and the ease to escape from PVP would be like UO. Thats right 10 years, I live in Norway, I played UO and I know exactly when Kjetil and the others started working on Darkfall, and I know all the history of the game as the op has posted. I quit UO for Darkfall almost 10 years ago, deciding to try some other games untill Darkfall came out. Now that might make me look like a moron, but dont worry about me ive been having a good time checking in on Darkfall as the years progressed.
Now let me get down to the point:
FACT IS: Tasos Flambouras has NEVER before 2008 given a DATE! Fact: That date got extended by one month and a few days, and thats the ONLY time he has said something that didn't happen. If you want to call him a liar because of that ONE MONTH then u sir are an idiot. Extending launch by one month is completly consistent with pretty much every other MMO Launch in recent history, and u know what, most likely they will have to extend it another month, or keep the launch for a limited amount of players for the first month or two, and thats fine. Because thats how it is when u are developing a game with no money. Before 2008 all that was ever mentioned was the beta testing proccess, well do u know what TESTING means? Testing means that if something goes wrong, like an in-house developed engine that needs rework, u have to go back to scratch, and yeah, that means starting all over. They never made any secret of this.
Also Darkfall does not fall under the definition of Vaporware, by ur OWN copy-pasted wiki definition: "software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge..."
Fails to emerge
Didn't notice that part ? Darkfall is coming, it might suck, it might lag, it might all have been a waste, but that doesn't stop me from trying it.

I mean to say that you think Tasos never lied after seeing all of that makes one think you either didnt read the OP, or that you are very foolish and blind as well. Read the whole definition given by Wiki and you'll see that by the Wiki definition, Darkfall IS indeed vaporware. Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product. The term implies unwarranted optimism, an as yet unannounced abandonment of a project, or sometimes even deception; that is, it may imply that the announcer knows that product development is in too early a stage to support responsible statements about its completion date, feature set, or even feasibility. 1. Personal attacks: Read the name of this thread. "Mr Tasos Flambouras with skills maxxed in deciet, dishonesty, and misleading comments" That is not only name dropping (instead of saying "the devs of darkfall"), but also a direct defamation of character, and that my friend is the very definition of a personal attack, look it up, u might learn something today.
2: The definition of vaporware. I guess I have to spell it out. When the wikpedia definition that the OP himself posted says: "Fails to emerge" Then that means the software product being described is one that NEVER GETS RELEASED. Never getting released is in other words prerequisite for being vaporware. Which means if Darkfall gets released which is now very likely, by the OPs own definition it is not Vaporware.
Id also like to adress ur Fanboi accusation. I dont mind being put into a category as long as that category accuratly represents my own views. So if by Fanboy, u mean a person who will try Darkfall online when it is released, then by all means, I am that person. However if u by Fanboy mean a person who will not be critical to Darkfall no matter what happens, then no I am not that person, Im as sceptical as the next person, I like the IDEA of Darkfall, but im as many others worried about things like lag, server populations, dominating Zerg guilds etc etc, all of which if not handled properly by the devs could ruin this game.
So to end it, this thread fails, it presents facts, but only very subjectively and attempts to misrepresent them as being some indicator of the games supposedly imminent downfall. Which is biased and also obviously wrong.
