It's a sandbox game, the ability to do anything and kill anyone is the best part! How much fun would a game like GTA be if you could only kill the guys you were sent after, and none of the helpless pedestrians standing in your way! |

If and when i get into the game,i will be an explorer and one who is trying out the game mechanics.I have ZERO interest in PVP,so if the game has no content outside of PVP,it will be no where's near my HD. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody the power, the other to crave it. |

It won't be played by the masses. This isn't a game designed or hyped toward attracting the masses either. You can tell that just by the fact that they got super giddy over 300k beta applicants. AoC and WAR each were near or above the one million mark in terms of beta applicants. I am confident that WAR has more subscribers than AoC does currently and that would put them together at around half a million. Both games lost many players due to a shaky launch, launch bugs, and a lack of good end game content. As poor as the games launched for both AoC and WAR, and as sorry as the end game in both currently is, if you think an Indie Dev Team is going to produce a better launch and a better end game than either of those, you are nuts or you are truly blinded by the hype.
Those of us who are going to play this game are in a very tiny niche, which I personally wouldn't even dare label as a "chunk" of the market. |

The ability to "do anything" has always been a myth. You're always limited by the mechanics of any virtual world just as you're limited by the mechanics of the real world. People need to stop using trite phrases and say what they really mean. It's a less structured environment than your average MMO. Incedentally the freedom to build almost anywhere and in almost any manner was a real problem for Shadowbane. Darkfasll just gave up a little freedom to solve those problems. It's a trade off like everything else in game design.

No disagreement - I am just sick to death of the Darkfall Fanbois spouting rubbish about "go ANYWHERE, do ANYTHING." I tried playing Real Life but the graphics sucked, the community was annoying too. |

Darkfall is a niche game, it will never be played by the masses, but I'm sure it will be played by a mass of douche bags. |

I'm sure there will be more intelligent people out there that can comprehend this idea. If you go rogue and start killing your own race your going to get killed by someone bigger and better then you, and they are going to have no consequences, like turning grey/red, like you are for being a pk.
See THIS....this is what the little gankers all think their game reality in DF is going to be....they think they're going to go around kicking ass and being King of the Gankers. ROFL I find that comical, BECAUSE....MOST of them are so arrogant that they actually think they are the best PvP player in the world, and they're just going to go around handing peoples asses to them on a platter. What's GOOD about this game is that there will very very likely be alliances. When Junior Psycho Backstabber comes along and ganks someone and steals their ore, or sword, or whatever.... they're going to be quite shocked when they are then constantly stalked for weeks on end by that person's alliance of bigger, better, and more numerous "painbringers." It's really funny! There will be a few "uber leet gankers" that are going to find some humility in this game when they realize that there are ALWAYS people that are BETTER than you are....at EVERYTHING. Yes, there are those helpless ones that are not, but....life, and gaming, have a funny way of exampling the "what goes around comes around" philosophy. This game will likely have a good deal of "The Stalker Become the Prey" going on. That makes ME....smile. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

It's funny that you talk about intelligence and can't even use the proper grammar for "you're" and not "your". With sandbox games like DF there's no linear path that any one individual or a group of individuals need to follow. If a player or group of players choose to be outcasts, pirates, pirate hunters, at peace with their own race, at war with any other race, or whatever is up to them. The great thing about these games is that people are more free to do what they want and play how they want. It won't always match the way in which you want to play, which may frustrate you but in this type of game you can't really force another player to play the same way you do. I look forward to seeing what's made available with the different play styles and going from there.
oh come on now! you don't know or understand what type of typist he is!
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

No need to argue semantics, and I couldn't really care less about city design restrictions. Also, while I can be accused of blind fanboy-ism in the past, I'm still on the fence with Darkfall. |

If u are talking about balance in pvp in df through the numbers 3v1 5v2 e.t.c. keep in mind friendly fire is on ,battles are skill based not gear based, not ayto attack pew pew, u cant say what lvl skillled is the other player u meet, even 3v1 will be aserious job for the 3 since u never know who is that 1 felllow and how much skilled is the other guy u meet and ppl can always run away if things turn bad or hide in the trees. Numbers wont matter that much as u thing, mostly it will be how well organised and trained in warfare a war band will be. What greater reward can be than destroying the enemie's guild base instead of just yellling on them things or /spit /laugh like it happens in wow. The consequenses of loosing in DF are very real ,at least much more real than the causal risk free other mmorpg's in the market. That alone makes the game more intresting.
