I suppose the best EQ dungeon experiences were when maybe there were only one to three groups in the dungeon only to be fair. I don't think instanced dungeons necessarily are a better design- in fact, really they are different appeals. WoW actually, contrary to opinion, has non-instanced dungeons and sometimes having random other people in the dungeon can make it more dynamic, more interesting. In fact, I'd like to see a mmo try a instanced dungeon that allows multiple groups to join and do their own thing. This way you don't just have the monotony/sameness/predictably of a 5-man instance, but you have maybe more of the presence of the 'mmo' aspect that vanishes as soon as the dungeon is restricted to that of a 5-man multiplayer game. |

I believe that EQ dungeons were the best designed. They had all kinds of traps, twisty windy passeges, secret doors, and all kinds of neat things. They were probably the best part of the game as they really were dangerous to go into. |

hands down, Zul'Farrak in wow.. the battle on the steps of the temple..... truly truly epic.
Also loved Onyxia the first time.. and Zul'Gurub every time.
VC aka The Deadmines was the first dungeon that ever made my jaw drop... when I walked through that door and saw the Dreadnought in there... wow.

My best dungeon experience is unfortunatley in the game Neverwinter nights, it isn't really a MMO with 64 players max but the dungeoning was really fun. Most fun dungeons in a MMO I played is EQ2, particulary Runny eye seems to have stucked in my memory... |

DDO hands down, still the best! Althou I have enjoyed quite a few Lineage 2 open dungeons and even a few RF-Online open dungeons as well. |

All this talk about EQ Classic brings a tear to my eye Unrest was probably my favorite, LDoN was possibly the perfect method for getting strangers to team up for a crawl. So much fun back when I could get a group together without waiting for hours... |

The Dead Mines because the whole build up to it and ending was just perfect and the best time I ever had in WoW and Westfall was such a great fun zone. |

Originally posted by Thradar Molten Core? The most linear, boring, and tank-n-spank instance in existence? Seriously? That instance should just be deleted for all the human hours that were wasted on it to farm gear so people could get past Vael in BWL.
i've been playing mmo's for the past 10 years, Molten Core may have been boring for u, but I thought it was fun..spend hours trying to accomplish something no other guild had done in the world. Kill Ragnaros..I'm not talking about doing it every week, for many months, i'm talking about the first whole clear. The sense of accomplishment everyone felt when killing the final boss. Even the anger that rose in everyone when Ragnaros would bug out at 1% with everyone alive and GM's saying they can't do anything about it. Those were memorable times. Not everyone played past Molten Core, ergo not everyone needed to grind for gear, ergo many people found it fun. Now tell me this, why are people still running Molten Core in Wrath of the Lich King? Because some people find it fun. braap |

I would have to say the first few times through DDO dungeons were great. There's something to be said when you NEED a rogue to make it through(well at release it seemed this way lol). I've had some really good times in GW's also but there is just something about the way DDO plays that puts it over the top for me. |

Quite a few of the DDO dungeons is nothing short of spectacular, especially on the first run. In terms of play value I do not think any MMO has this beaten yet. But my all time favourite is Steps of Madness in Anarchy Online. To this day I can not hear a bicycle bell "pling" without thinking of it. It was not all that pretty, it was pretty straight forward but DAMN, the mood, ambience and above all the music makes it, for me, the best dungeon experience to date. But a worthy mention to EQ2 and Soluseks Eye, first time in there with its HUGE grottos, equally huge everything and the glass walkways were giants just waited for you, that was something else as well. Not to mention Nagafen at the end. Do not think it is played all that much these days except for people wanting the dragon language and are doing "To speak as a dragon". Perhaps they added another way to get that now? But still, quest chains like that is why I think EQ2 is the king of quests. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I wonder if you honestly even believe what you type, or if you live in a made up world of facts. |

I would say Zul'Aman in WoW.The atmosphere there was very great. You were fighting against time which gave the most of the excitement. All the bosses there requires skill all has different approaches to wipe your group and awards were great. You really get the sense of accomplishment when you clear it |

My best dungeon experience? Ironically what I enjoyed the most in the dungeons was coded out of games, TRAINS in Everquest 1. |
