Hello there Comunity,
i played and tested lots of mmorpg to this day and came to the conclusion that for me the best fun was always to run a clever build dungeon with a little group of guildies or a PUG. In all the games i have plaid EQ2s splitpaw saga and many of the other dungeons in this game have been the best i have ever seen. Would be nice to hear some stories and opinions from you about your funnest dungeon crawls and the best dungeons games in ya opinion.

DDO was definately most memorable for me. It's very good the first time around with 4-6 friends(full party if possible) who also play the game first time. The instances are very well done. Old DDO players and grinders often spoiled these moments 'cause they know where all the traps are and they come with their market buffs and endless potions to run around the dungeon aiming to finish it as fast as they can. Major turn off! Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. -Author unknown, attributed to Mark Twain |

Treeback Farm in Tabula Rasa, no contest.
Although instances are probably my least favourite thing to do in a MMO. |

MMO sandbox games are as exciting as watching paint dry. |

Unrest in EQ... The zone gave an ominous feel, and the trains to zone-line were of epic proportions. Everything a budding adventurer needs to enjoy themselves. Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget. |

I always enjoyed doing the dungeons from LDoN in EQ......It was enjoyable to have to accomplish a goal in 90 minutes with a group of others.......You had to work together as a team and it really made the community stronger.....My friends list grew literally by hundreds of people when LDoN went live. |

My best dungeon experience was DAOC Darkness Falls (DF). |

Mistmoore or Seb in EQ1. Nusibe in Vanguard.... gorgeous, traps, curses, massive... very fun old fashion dungeon crawl. I've never found 'instances' to be fun in any MMO, just not my bag baby! |

I agree Ldon was good, though I'll also mention other dungeons like Karnor's Castle, the Warrens, Sebillis, Chardok, City of Mist, etc. |

Almost any dungeon in EQ Classic (prior to expansions and instancing) were just phenominal fun. Lower Guk,Paw,Mistmoore etc. Camp checks being called all the time etc. Was just so much going on. |

I would say Unrest in EQ as well. Nothing before or since has given as much of a fright and sense of accomplishment when "finished."
Back in the early days of EQ, Unrest was an incredible experience.
LOTRO storyline is the best of the modern era MMOs.

Fr me, it was the frontiers of DAOC. HUge instance, lots of objectives, In the end, it wasnt as muh an instance as it was the 2nd half of the game. Had a lot of fun in Darkness falls too |

I have to agree that DDO Dungeons are a great deal of fun, but yes things go down hill very quickly if your grpd with players who just want to rush through and collect the exp rather than enjoy the ambience of the place and the traps and sudden encounters that will surprise you. Also Unrest in EQ1 will always hold a special place in my heart, zoning into a grp of Ghouls/Zombies/Hags meant a swift death but it was always funny to see those over-zealous pullers running for dear life out of the Mansion screaming "Train from Basement to zone, GET OFF THE TRACKS".

There is many nice dungeons/instances that I enjoyed in EQ2, but the dungeon that I kinda enjoyed most was DWB bunker in swg when they released it. It had a time limit (due to buffs), insane respawn rate and the place just killed off series of groups even before they manage to enter it :) -- |

EQ2's Nizara at level 70 was insane had to play just about perfect to do anything. Heck even at 80 nizara is tough as hell. Unrest in EQ2 was very cool too it was a giant haunted house with all the tricks that come with it. |

I guess I have to say DDO. Place like the Pit and the Rainbow in the Dark dungeons. They just offer stuff that other games don't even come close to. The lighting effects, 3D puzzles, traps, climbing and jumping, needing to find secret doors to shrines.
I thbiggest problem though I suppose is that many people already know them or want to rush through them. Which takes away a lot of the difference in them. I admit that with the slow XP of the game and the only way to get good xp is to finish dungeons that i can feel that too.
Not sure what the solution is to the above, but i think a number of DDO instance the first time through with no spoilers are by far the best. Many are just quick dungeons runs but some do some pretty neat stuff. |
