Originally posted by kuzseamer Sadly, this Star Wars game is going to be more singleplayer than anything else. Bioware makes great singleplayer games, not MMOs. You're going to have an NPC party, its going to be heavily story and instanced based, not the SWG you've been waiting for, or any of us really. Oh yeah, and it has item shops, meaning, if you want the good gear, pay real money for it. |

I just have such high expectations anymore for any MMO and none have delivered in recent years and none comming out look all that promising but we'll see. To me I believe you can have a great sandbox MMO which still tells a story at the same time lets you leave your own little mark in the world, I believe that the potential for magnificent combat where your not stuck on the ground as a jedi is there something more like the Jedi Knight games where you can leap over your oponents and if your in a jetpack you can do more than hover 10 feet in the air with it, and in space craft you could actually fly around in the hemisphere to blast an At-St or whatever before going into deep space to take out a Star Destoyer, I believe we can have a digital world with the same ruleset as our own and still be civil to each other yet the thrill of a fight always beckons at your feet, I also believe we can achieve a truely complex crafting system which should support and run a player based economy (SWG and UO done a pretty good job of that at one point, Before the "uber leet loot items"), maybe I expect to much though. I have played quite a few MMO's in the past 12 or so years and I see so much potential and so many that could be better yet lack that I cannot get my hopes up for this game yet. Not saying it will be bad just saying I think they are gearing more towards the general casual gamer and not a true MMO gamer but we'll see. |

I agree with the others that this isn't the return of the game that SWG was before NGE. Honestly I don't really think that Bioware should make that game, cause it's not what they are good at. Bioware is good at making a good story. If they can figure out how to do that and still make a good MMO, then I'll give this one a go. I haven't played a Bioware game I didn't like, so hopefully this one won't be the exception. |

There will be some grouping, and a lot of chatting .. and i am 100% fine with this as long as it is an entertaining game.

Originally posted by kuzseamer It took me a year of being really angry before I realized I didn't want pre-cu back. I wanted a NEW SW MMO. I’ve said it many times over the years. Rollback was not going to be anything SOE would do. I gave up on SWG, because even if they did rollback, unless they used a time machine it wouldn't bring my old friends back who left because of broken promises like the launch of JTL, the change to the CU, the NGE, and the launch of WoW. Most of the people I knew who left for WoW never came back for some reason even though they were fans of Star Wars, and at one time liked SWG. Well, I went back thru the TOR forums, my guild forums, and some other SWG sites and it looks like they are all expecting to try TOR. |

There is much soloable heresy being spoken here and many linear and theme park infidels trying to convert us to their evil ways. I say nay brothers! Take up the saber of Koster and strike down their twisted evil! We shall all be there, Knights of the old pre-cu alongside the knaves of the NGE and the dogsbodies of the World of Wankers! We must live together and to do that I propose the we bring back roleplaying to MMOs. If the game provides an enviroment that encourages roleplay we may live side by side and have fun. If not then we the Knights of the old Pre-CU must begin conversion by the saber, until all infidels are brought under the yoke!

Bioware has that " Midas Touch ", anything they touch turns to gold. For those who actually have played Bioware games know this and for the ones who don't will soon find this out :) |

Originally posted by miagisan just some clarifications from dev interviews. Good clarifications Miagi. That's been my impression as well. Also, we had npc companions in SWG pre-cu in the form of pets and faction rewards (rebel soldier etc.). It didn't replace grouping, and added a fun dimension to the game. I think the whole story concept, with variable outcomes, is going to be revolutionary for this genre in a very positive way. These guys are not thinking about making a fast buck at the expense of gaming addicts. They're creating something worth experiencing; at least this seems to be the intent at this point. Here's hoping some get rich quick minded business exec doesn't torpedo this thing at the eleventh hour. In my experience, Bioware won't allow it. In the past, they've told publishers to find another mule if that's their plan. I hope they stay the course. IF LEC does not interfere with Bioware's vision, this will be amazing. |

In the hands of anyother company I'd be annoyed we weren't getting another shot at an improved pre-cu (I still am a bit). However Bioware are the best RPG maker out there, now they're crossing over to multi-player from single player and I expect them to use the same excellence with this that they have for everyother game. I just want to know if I can explore the insides of a player Jedi/Sith with my Mandalorian carbine!

In any event the next year promises some exiting debate&development.
Bioware: Player housing was never a part of the deal !!!
Player Community: We are altering the deal, pray we don't alter it any further... |

True, but there are a lot of former SWG devs on the Bioware project. Something to rattle your brain box a bit, there. Enjoy! I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play. |
