Special Spellborn Chat with David Perry from Acclaim and El Drijver, Lead Game Designer of The Chronicles of Spellborn. Acclaim will start with closed beta next week "When we launch the open beta, which will be shortly, there will be no more ip blocking between any of the servers, whether its the acclaim servers, that handle most of the world except france and germany and the benelux, and there will be no more ip blocking on the side of spellborn as well."

What was actually said is that the IP block will be gone when OB launches, which makes more sense too. |

Its pretty much over anyhow. For weeks now, interested players download/buy, log in, play a few hours, realize nobody else does, and leave forever. They churn through players like mad, and todays MMO-Player doesnt really look back anymore. |

They haven't released to most of the world yet. This very site still has its status as beta testing awaiting release. yet you are saying its all over?
Give me a break. Wait for the US release and give the game a shot. It will be free to dl and play at first. |

EU players (and anyone else) that can't sign up because you're being diverted please follow my below post from a different thread.
-------------------------------------- With the UK apparently not being part of the EU for TCoS (along with half of europe?) and not being able to sign up and play I went on a proxy hunt that also managed to display the CAPTCHA upon registration.
Anyway after 10 minutes I was signed up with an account and playing. If anyone would like to give it a try (hey it's free isn't it? :)) below is a quick how to on getting registered. (Am I even allowed to post this?) 1. Go to www.gingerproxy.com (it's the only I can find that displays the CAPTCHA) 2. Enter in the address https://eu-players.tcos.com and click "Browse" 3. Click on the "Register" button on the right hand side and go through (KEEP THE BROWSER WITH GINGERPROXY OPEN) 4. Open a new tab/browser and go to the email address you entered for the confirmation email.
[Edit] the above can also be done for anyone not able to sign up |

Originally posted by Livett The distributors dont want this and will cancel your account if they find out. Or in worst case scenario, you might end up with a subscription that you cant cancel, after the proxy workaround stopped working. So I dont understand why you want to support those distributors that dont want you as customer, or risk getting attached to a progressed character that you might lose after they take action to prevent the proxy workaround. EDIT: Just read in a different thread in this section that they will get rid of the ipblocks. If this is true, Ill definately try the game after that. |

If they remove any and all IP banning and allow everyone to play everywhere, then there might be some hope left for the game. See that is one of those few things SOE actually does right ( afaik, in the past I could play on any SOE server, wheter it was US or EU ). Too bad they jumped on the RMT bandwagon and you have to pay sub on top, oh and they killed SWG. Anyway, as an EVE Online player, where we have 1 server to rule them all ( yah yah, there is also a Chinese server, but thats because of China, CCP would definatly prefer them to play on the main server ), I can never go back to these area limited servers, especially not if they split up Europe, I mean WTF?

Strange isn't it. A distributor that doesn't want customers. Normally I wouldn't do anything like this, infact I don't ever remember trying a game that has been IP blocked. It's only for someone that might want to try the game out and not wait for this IP block to be lifted. |

Maybe some people haven't heard it yet. Maybe the words weren't big enough to be noticed. Maybe some people aren't willing to read it. Maybe it just takes a little repetition for it to sink in... The IP filtering is being removed. By the time the game is available in your area there will be no IP filtering. The proxy workaround was only ever intended for people wanting to get a preview of the trial. |
