To me it seems that this game has one of the most passionate and active community of all games listed on this site. Passionate either on the vapour ware side or as a die hard fans and all in between.

So why is a lot of people so upset about the vapour ware side? Have they lost any money? Pre-Ordered? Angry becouse they havnt been invited to beta? KIcked in the nades by Tasos or whatever the guy is called?

And the die hard fans? What makes you think this game will be the messias of all games? Have you tried it? Has Tasos personally invited you into beta? Do you know something that we dont know?

Hell if the game dont launch then the only ones loosing is those that have been stupid enough to invest in a project that they should have done a hell of a lot of research about. And if you are that stupid. Then you didnt deserve the money you lost anyways.

If the game fails after launch, you still have the suckers mentioned above + the suckers that pre-ordered/beta testers that is ok with half-finished games and those who didnt know better.

If the game succeeds, then someone is gonna make a SHIT load of money and the MMO industry has gained a new 200-300k playerbase game.

Whatever its gonna be. Things like this is a part of the MMO world and it always will be. Dark and Light is a good example of a epic fail in all its glory. But hey, who dares wins. Sooner or later one of these small companies gonna succeed.

Some people dont like what darkfall represents. Others are bitter at having been burned.  Some just like to cause trouble. And others are just plain bored. 

I would say 90% of the haters are former fanboi's at some time disenchanted by the games long list of pushbacks and delays.  The other 10% are those that didn't get into beta and are crying about it.

As for the defenders, it's simple.  Just people hoping beyond hope that a game of this feature list will come out, and are so passionate because the time for it to release is soon.

Oh I dont care either way. I base my comments on what is know or unknown at this point. All I want frankly is a unbiased look at the game, by a objective reviewer, of content and game world as it exists in the beta...cant be too much to ask can it?

Sides its my hope this IS a good game, id love to play a game based on the premise of DFO.

What reinforces the preception something smells in Greece is all the secrecy...I think thats a reasonable reaction from people who are interested in the game.

No I dont want access to the KGB archives, well, then again I do, but we are talking about a MMO here that will need customers to suceed.

Oh on that note I hope the "fuck you all Adventurine dosnt need you as customers" peeps posting here are not employees of that company if so by all means make that your public business mantra so we get a feel for what to expect.

The days of people accepting crap from the likes of the Derek Smarts of game devs is over. It can and will ruin your rep. Food for though.

Could be true i guess, it's just..... i wouldn't have thought that way because games im not interested in at all i dont even comment about after i read up on them lol.  Guess i just don't understand some peoples thought process.

If that is indeed true though i feel really sad for them, because theres 40 state of the art  linear games out there right now and they shouldn't be having a tough time finding a home, and shouldn't be expecting much better to be released in only a years difference from all of them.

Strongaxe, here's a bit of advice for you.  It's an old saying.  "It is better that one, remain quiet, and let people believe him to be a fool.  Then to open his mouth, and remove all doubt."  You do it, in far too many of your post. How do you know what they are thinking? Do you even know any of them personally? Have you even talked to any them, beyond reading a post by them? Stop trying to make it sound like you have some "great" insight into what others think.

     The fans of this game remind me alot of when I tried out UO....... The only problem wit hpassionate players is that often they are passionate in the wrong way....What I mean by that is that I expect alot of these guys to be like the players were in UO......Brutal, violent, no regard for other players whatsoever....... I can almost guarantee one hundred percent that this game will be a brutal gankfest....... It will be just like UO where you walked five feet out of Brittain and there were gank squads just waiting to kill and loot everyone who did........This game will probably have the typical new MMO policy of early access so by the time most players get in there will be higher level/skill gankers just waiting to ruin their gameplay.

I'm going to disagree.   50% of the trolls ( DF fanboy Fact:  troll>> anyone that disagrees with them)  are people that will play the game, but don't believe everything the devs tell them.  The other 50% are people that came into the DF forum; asked a simple question, and got told 10 different ways to gtfo.

I'm anticipating Darkfalls release but not giving my hopes up. After being burned twice in '08, I'm not forking over any cash until its been out for awhile and the general reaction is positive and favorable. I understand the skeptics and can relate to the fanbois, there are reasonable people in both groups. Also, trolls are not exclusive to the skeptic group. I was playing Dungeon Runners earlier this week when a DF fanboi started trolling the general chat, putting down DR while praising DF. It was before the 22nd so I doubt he had ever played DF, and even if he did that doesn't change the fact he was trolling.

All the more reason in this case to not pre order and to await the reviews. As it stands there is absolutely nothing out there that convinces me I want to buy this game, other then a concept, that frankly hasnt been fleshed out in public enough to give me confidence my money wont be wasted on another drink coaster like WO and a number of other recent releases.

Like I keep telling the Darkfail club, show me the MONEY BABIE!

Well after three epic pre-order fails. Trials of Obi-Wan, Vanguard and AoC. I will never pre-order a game again. Unless i can try it for free first. Either trial or beta.

Thats becouse a skillbased openended game is long overdue in the MMO world. For many a working polished skillbased game with open PvP is the holy grail of MMO's. Massive battles are loads of fun. But so are adventuring, crafting and community building.

I do get the suspicion sometimes that certain people, nowhere near 90% though, dislike darkfall out of principle and think that full loot and ffa pvp are morally wrong.  I hope I am wrong about this as these people would seem to not understand the boundry between game and real life.   

I'm going to be completely honest here but the Darkfall community, trolls and fanbois, is filled with assholes and douchebags.

Edit: I haven't seen a nastier bunch of people since the WoW forums. Hell, the WoW forums is a Tibetan monk convention compared to DFO forums.

I think it has more to do with never being exposed to the concept working successfully.  The only recent example is EVE.  All of the others are flops or date back to pre-WoW, when the MMO market was extremely small.
