While genetics will play a major part of ones ability to burn calories faster or slower it isn't the factor that makes people obese.
My buddy Tim (6 foot 3 inches @ 170 lbs, he's a bean pole more or less) eats 4 times (no joke) the amount of food that most do. Goes to Jack in the Box almost every night and buys himself 2 or 3 big burgers, his girl is big boned (not fat, just a bit big) and is more of a vegatarian that occasionaly eats meat. In the end its simple math, how many calories you take in vrs how many you put out. **Some people just can't take in many where as others can not take in enough to grow** But then I think we all already know this. |

My whole adult life i have weighed 150-155 lbs, except for 2 weeks when i laid around in winter eating Goverment cheese. I ballooned to 170 lbs, i quickly lost it when i started moving again. 9 out of 10 times i would wager someone is obese because they don't excercise enough. They just sit around stuffing there faces. But that's alright they won't be able to lay around stuffing there fat faces for long. "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. "That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added
Obamas gonna change that. |

ah i see. exercising is good because it gets you big arms and stuff. haha yea i eat a lot but i guess thats because im still younger. thank god i exercise. But i get your point. Its just how people are. They dont care if they get fat, they just dont feel like working out because that requires.. well.. work. But what bothers me is them saying stuff like "Oh my parents were fat so im going to be fat. That is somewhat true, but not 100%. Yes is your parents are larger you have a better chance of gaining a lot of weight, but if you exercise and eat healthy, you will lose weight. OHH and they dont feel like waiting for the results. Oh and a big mac is tasty
see i told you i knew what you were talking about!

You know what's sad? I live in a typical neighborhood. Houses are fairly close to eachother, etc. This Halloween, the parents DROVE their fat little kids from house to house in their SUVs to get candy. Honestly, wtf? I thought you were supposed to walk from house to house, apparently I was doing it wrong as a kid. ------------------------- |

I honestly doubt genetics is to blame for obesity. You never see obese people in primitive cultures unless they were rich. In fact fat was considered attractive, it was an indicator of wealth. Habit is what causes people to have compulsions to eat more than they should. The act of eating processed foods and sugars releases dopamine and this is what people are addicted to. Almost every beverage / food that is advertised is detrimental to your physical and mental health. Sugar and simple carbs are are great to eat and thats why they bring in so much $$ for the companies marketing them. Health food is very scarce cause people prefer food that tastes good rather than food thats good for them. Also the advertisement budget for health food companies is hundreds of times less than more commonly known ones. Most people eat out their meals and this contributes to health problems in general. Your mood, body, everything is regulated by what you eat. You literally are "what you eat" And if what you eat is pleasant , the side effects will be the opposite. The WHO (World Health Organization) Suggests a daily value of 42 grams (12 teaspoons) of sugar. A single can of coke almost 20% more sugar than that. Thats why the daily value % isnt posted on the nutrition facts, it would mena alot less $$ for the companies involved I only eat healthy because it helps my well being, were all gunna die someday

Parents will generally feed the kid what they're eating. If their diet causes them to be obese then there is no reason the kid shouldnt be. Most babies today earnt fed right, true study.

Last night I was channel surfing before I passed out and I happened upon the shopping netowrk and saw something... They were advertising something called a Sanyo E Jog. It was an exercise machine where you stand on it and it simulates a motion of climbing stairs. That's nothing different you might say, what's the problem? Well the problem was that the 2 platforms you stand on move on their own, basically lifting you up and down. Now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't exercise suppsoed to involve effort otherwise you might just buy a pneumatic teeter totter and just ride it yourself. I'm starting to think that this is natural selection comming into power once more in it's modern incarnation. If you don't even put a little bit of effort to keep yourself out of the "morbidly obese" statistic then you get what you get. It's no different then Grog the caveman being eaten by a sabertooth tiger. If he was dumb enough to put himself into the situation he got what was coming to him. No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga- |
