It seems as if Age of Conan has been released for 7 months. People have been really mad about the release. There were a few problems ranging from bugs, performance issues to low and short content and terrible end game. People demanded for server merges while others were flaming on the forums 24/7. Xfire numbers went down.

However, months later people are coming back to Age of Conan. Everyday on the forums I heard better and better things about this game. The performance has greatly improved. They've added a lot of conent. Plenty of PvP updates and end game dungeons. This game is back and it's rocking and rolling all the way!!! There's so many things to do. They've added so many good things and I said I wouldn't be coming back to this game until either DX10 or server merges. We'll they've merged the servers and I'll be coming back.

Age of Conan is a game like none other. Back when I first played it, I  had a blast!!! The classes were awesome, the quests were fun, the music was relaxing and surrounding, the environment was lust and beautiful. Like I said, the only reason I quit was because of lack of end game content. Now, I'm back for more and am going to be enjoying this game the second time through.

Best of all, I've missed the community, lol. Just kidding.

So, my rig is a bit weak, but here's what I got.

- AMD Athlon 64X2 dual core 2.4 GHZ

- ATI RADEON HD 3870 running @ 84 Gb/s with 512 MB of GDDR4 VRAM

- 3 GB DDR2 RAM

am I good?

So, a few questions, I hear the server Set is a good PvE server and uh....I wonder what class I should be? Hmm, demologist again?

I'm a veteran MMORPG player that is relatively new to AoC. My two cents...

* For me the game runs perfectly. No lag, no framedrops, ... even with graphics and audio maxed out. BUT I'm running it on a very high end machine.

* A few tiny glitches aside, the server merge went very smoothly and has pumped a good amount of life back into the game. On the EU servers however, they threw all nationalities together, resulting in language based guilds. For examply... my former Twilight server is now swamped with Russians who spam the global chat in cyrillic. Bit anoying, but no big problem. The PvP balance of power has been upset quite a bit, but all-in-all I've not seen too much griefing.

* So far... relatively low grind. I've levelled by doing quests that range from boring to very cool.

* The setting is cool of course, but there is not enough in-game story to tie all the quests together. They really need to work on that.

* Graphics... are nice. Not as spectacular as some people claim. Just nice. But... most monster and creature models need work in every departme nt.

* Community... a lot of spammers. But also some decent folk. The upside to the game is, that if you want , you can do most of it solo.

* Instances and such... I thought it would be worse. I normally don't like heavily instanced games, but somehow it hasn't bothered me much; As for not being able to stray from set game paths... I've found that it's not exactly true. You can climb most mountains, etc. if you find the right way and use jump a lot :)

So far, I would say it's the best release we've had in a few years. Although it still can't beat AC, DAOC, EQ or EQII in their prime.

AC (retired); EQ (retired); DAoC (retired); Horizons (retired); EQII (retired); CoH (retired); AC II (tested); Lineage II (beta); Neocron (tested); Saga of Ryzom (beta); SWG (retired)...

Oh I've played through the game at launched and got to level 80 in 11 days. But, I'm glad this second time through there's a low grind. I might grind a bit at the Cannabal Caves lol.

To the OP............I don't know if you realised they just merged all the EU servers.

Some people are coming back, I did, but it is not so evident that it needs a brand new thread to brag about it.

No doubt, a lot of people are returning to the game, and the acticity on the newly merged EU PVE and PVP servers last night was just insane. I had to use "crouch" to get out of the trading post in Old Tarantia due to the heavy crowding!

My only concern is that they merged to many of the servers into one, as many of the returnees that has been playing for some time would want to join their former guild, or further develop their allready lvl 50-80 chars. With the huge amount of players that are on, I really cant belive login ques are far away..

I know. This has always been one of the things I have worried about the most because if you think it is overcrowded now, what do you think it will be a week from now. I hope they get up some Semi-Freshstart servers that people in lower than level 40 can transfer to.

You took the words out of my mouth, my dear! LOL...

To the OP... AoC has got to be the worst MMORPG I've ever played and Beta tested. Even Dark & Light felt more like playing an MMORPG, even though it was trash..

AoC plays and feels as If your playing a single player RPG, but with some online fps elements.. There's waaaay to much zoning, the item customization straight up sucks, the combat system belongs in a fps game, and for a extreme graphical game, the cities, towns, and terrain looks so bland, I literally had to pretend it didn't bother me.

AoC belongs on a platform and should be FTP. It's not an MMORPG. What Funcom did was combine FPS and some MMO themes just so they could charge a monthly fee.. Whether you want to admit it or not, this game is more of your typical single player platform RPG than an MMO. True MMORPG vets of 10 yrs + like me will nnnnnnnnnnever eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeverrrrrr give that game a second glance.

I think you can set your worries to rest if we are talking about  the same game. Last night i was running around Tarantia for about a hour on the Wicana server just admiring the scenery and I saw maybe 20 other players during that hour. They just did a server merge for a reason...sheesh. Before that you would have been lucky to see 2 players other players on a Friday night LOL

Well I don't and woun't contents that. Wiccana I don't know about but the trader at Tyrrany, Cimmeria and Set are Rave clubs in weekends. Very densely populated. You know there can me issues with reduced latency when servers get too populated. I just say I hope that does not happen. And imagine one week from now if this population surge continues, it will be even more people.

IF there was some  influx of players to AoC you would certainly see FunCom making many a public statement to capitalize on that fact, they are well known for their willingness to massively hype even the smallest of accomplishments.

The OPs claim is fiction at best, next time site some form of evidence when making wild claims, even Big Foot Hunter's go to the trouble of holding up a spurious plaster cast of the elusive Man-Beast's tracks. Make a little more effort in the future when telling tall tales.

AoCs fundamental design didn't "do it" for me, so no amount of player in-flux/tweaks/etc will change my mind.

For those playing or interested in playing; give it a shot. The retail box isn't that expensive anymore if I recall, and even if you only play for a month, you're getting about as much value per dollar as as most generic console games.

On a side note, I despise posts with similar topics, so all the OP has done is invite trolling into the thread. Nice job.

just that AoC forums seems to have a higher proportional number of them.

A MMORPG need customers that will stay for the long haul, not just stay a month or two, if it is to be successful. Right now on Play.com I can get a AoC box and a 60 day timecard for about 35 US dollars. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out Funcom is not making much off a deal like that. What they need are customers who play month after month after month after month. Marketing is not going to help a frigging bit there.

What AoC needs to do right now is figure out why people leave and correct those deficiencies because once they get and lose a customer it is twice as hard to get that customer back. Once they come and leave twice it is damn near impossible.

I am the odd one out on that because this is a hobby for me and at times I used to let my EQII sub ride for several months and did not even log in because I was doing single person games or messing around beta'ing or playing another MMORPG. 15 bucks is no big impact on my wallet and I may or may not cancel my sub with AoC whether I plan on playing  it or not next month. I will probably cancel though because I have no guild in game and there is no way I could really reccomend the game to anyone right now. best I can say about it is that it is a beautiful game. Too bad it feels like a single player RPG.

Yes everyone is coming back for another month of AoC, after Darkfall was delayed another month :)

Such a very interesting roller coaster ride on xfire recently for AoC.

http://www.xfire.com/games/aoc/Age_of_Conan_Hyborian_Adventures/

Jan 15-16 AoC hits their all time low and looks to be dropping out of the top 100 games on xfire. Then 16-17 Darkfall announces that heir launch is delayed to 25 of Feb and on the 18 AoC rises from 87 to 45.

I find this so interesting because it really shows how much the future of AoC depends on the success or failure of another game, Darkfall.

While I am an avid AoC hater that was not the reason for this post, I really found this very interesting and you can take out of it what you will.
