Both. I am lured by the promises and freedom/exploration and be anything do anything of DF. I am also really into the Aion combat animations, art direction, immersive story, and the fact that I also enjoy a little bit of thempark progression in my MMO. This will be hard because I love both types.

Buy them both? MMO's are pretty hard to just cycle through like single player games. They are more long term so I could never see myself doing that. I myself will probably wait for aion to release to the west, and basically weigh the good and bad of both and try to determine what one I like more overall, DF free trial will be nice which they said they want everyone to experience at release. Though to be 100% honest, if DF proves to be all it promises, I would probably be more inclined to pick that up. But I am being really careful with this one.

Aion because I have zero faith in the DF devs. |

Aion, because I can't stand No Limits PvP or corpse looting. |

Playing Aion in korea off and on now. its fun and stable but the game is meant to be played with friends (at least for me it is). I will sub to Aion when its released in the west and play with my friends. I'm gonna take a wait and see stance on DF. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Well, don't leave us hanging, why do you say this? 1. I blew out my right shoulder and this makes playing aion very hard to do.(or any game) 2. I don't know very many ppl on the korean server so I mostly solo, And I would much rather play with friends. They both have their allure, I was about to start lineage 2 but I think that Aion may take a large chunk of lineage 2 players though thats all speculation. Its hard to prevent ones self from buying them all because of their allure and realtively low cost. I think I have resolved that I will not buy darkfall until I hear something about it, its a little sketchy. Actually its very sketchy. Aion Ive heard nice things about already b/c its realeased overseas. It seems to play simmilar to lineage2, maybe a little more theme park, can't get everything you want though. |

No, for the most part I think that's true. though the gameplay of L2 is so different that the more hardcore L2 players probably would think Aion a bit to WoW like. In any case I had every intent of leaving L2 for Aion until they changed L2 a bit too much for my taste. So I just ended the love affair early. |

So essentially you don't speak Korean and so it's a bit isolating? Sorry about the shoulder. though I don't think that has anything to do with playing with friends. make sure you see a doctor. |

Yes, my wife is korean but I dont bug her every time to translate something in the game. I'm playing in the korean version just so I can test out the game and the classes. Mostly this is done via soloing. But I have seen enough and now i'm just waiting for the release in NA/EU because I feel this game is well worth paying for and will be even better playing with people I know. P.S: the shoulder makes it painful to play any game for long periods of time. Aion. Imo, NCsoft is a proven developer, they know how to make a high quality game. Adventurine has no history whatsoever, It's low budget, from a small no name company. It's promises sound way to similar to other low budget games such as Dark & Light, Mourning and Irth Online.

DF does have many very interesting ideas behind it, but I have too many reservations about it to pick it over Aion right now. Friendly fire sounds like a lesson in frustration for everyone. Ranged attackers are going to constantly worry about hitting melee teammates in the back as they (melee) move around, and melee attackers (being in first person mode) are going to be constantly jumping in front of attacks by their own teammates as they try to use their l33t skills to dodge incoming damage. I even forsee people using friendly fire as a griefing tool. I just have a hard time seeing friendly fire as being a positive for DF. Full corpse looting sounds cool from the winners perspective, but really it's going to drive a lot of people away from the game, unless the devs get smart with weight limits so you can't wear all of your equipment and loot everything off of someone else when you kill them. So the winner gets his pick of your loot, but can't take everything and possibly even has to drop something of his own that the loser can pick up when he gets back to his corpse. Maybe then it won't be so bad. Also, the thought of spending months building up a city and logging in one day to find some massive hardcore guild has burned it to the ground doesn't sound like my idea of fun either. Maybe I've just become too much of a carebear in my old age To me, the only thing keeping DF from turning into anything other than a griefers paradise is the players themselves. If they band together and help protect each other and keep the griefing to a minimum, it might be worthwhile. However, based on past FFA games, the players are more likely to band together to promote griefing than anything else. MMO games would be pretty cool if it weren't for the people. |

I say neither.Neither company has shown it wants North Americans to buy and subscribe. Try the VG 14 day trial. You may be suprised...and pleased. |

Aion, because it has good graphs, hot toons, anime desing, good pvp... and its from NCsoft. And I really hate the classic-elder scrolls-rpg combat style. |
