Even if I don't like the game (def. not a DAOC like for me): hate BG, PVE is boring but IMO this game had the best launch of the year ( GOA lol I know) in the world Boring game , kind of small wow like but a playable game. best addon MoM Best MMO (easy choice between AOC and War release) War Seems fine

Congrats War! You deserve it. I've been playing this game for awhile and love it. My first experience with PvP. Very fun. The "public quest" system is a great innovation too. The graphics are nice, and the learning curve has been about perfect for my taste. I do have one bone to pick though, and it might be due to the fact that I'm a casual gamer. (Never had a character above 30 in the past 10 MMO's I've played = 2-3 hours a week.) But AoC being last. I thought the first twenty levels were phenomenal. I liked the day and night time quests. I enjoyed the story line, and the "grayness" of the subject matter. I thought the music was perfect, and the feel of the game was nice too. Perhaps there were issues (like PvP or after 30th lvl) that I'm ignorant about. But, to be below Atlantica Online - that's just silly. It was mature, better graphics, nice story arching. I just don't see it. Back to Warhammer - Thank you for making a great game! Congrats.

WOW released an expansion - not a new game. We need a most improved Game from a 2008 release so AOC and POTBS can duke it out. |

Gratz Mythic. The game needs improving and fixing but still was the best in 2008 can be become one of the best MMOs in the market. So I hope Mythic keeps up the good work and improves this game to reach all it's potential.

Congrats Mythic. If they can keep developing their RvR systems and try to capture some of the magic that made DAoC so much fun, they will continue to do well through 2009. Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. |

A nice squeeky win for WAR....not too surprising given the competition though, clearly "none of the above" was the big threat. Hopefully the folks at FLS take this as the slap to the head it should be for PotBS...and hopefully whatever idiots signed over the rights to Hyboria to the morons at Funcom have begun to realize what a horrid mistake they made...(along with funcons investors)

Congrats Mythic! Well deserved.
Too many Doom & Gloom naysayers on this site. They all want the virtual 3d WoW IRL MMO.
Thanks for coming up with some new/altered ideas and implementing them well. Every game has bugs at launch, and the bugs in WAR were far less than many other MMOs at their launch times. To the future of WAR! |

I liked MMOs better when gamers didn't play them, and just geeks did. |

I found this game bland and uninspired. That being said, it was the best game of all the ones released last year. Heh...and they said 2008 would be a good year for MMOs... Here's hoping 2009 is brighter.

This was definitely the "best of the worst" category. 2008 was really, really bad in terms of NEW releases. There were some good expansions released, but gah....I just can't play a game that anymore that I played for 3 years. In 3 years I'll probably be sick of my wife.....let alone a fricken video game. |

Grats to Mythic! The game should have been released with the patch 1.1d in place. However that did'nt happen and some people were just uninspired with the release on what it offered on release day. Unfortunately the game is geared for folks that want constant PvP (RvR) and the game is dependant on its player base, without a player base, this game would be a ghost town, however with its new patch we have seen some old players make it back to the game and I see more life in the game than before. If you are PvE centric mmo player and love crafting, this game really is'nt for you. They got other mmorpg's that are geared around PvE 1st and PvP 2nd. While WAR is PvP 1st and PvE 2nd. People still do Battlegrounds aka Scenarios, but most people that log into the game now look for Open RvR XP since the Influence rewards are far more superior than renown gear now. Public quests are still in place, but the game isn't centric around PvE and believe PQ's are great for down time if you are not in anytype of ORvR. (this is just my opinion). However still would agree, WARHAMMER definetly was the best MMO on 2008, but not the mmorpg of all time. WoW still holds that title, as it so seems. |

Originally posted by remyburke It was better than 2007 lol Gratz to Mythic, but I never give much weight to polls. The important thing is whether the game is doing well enough and entertaining enough people for the company to keep supporting it. The current generation of MMORPGs have been defined by some serious failures and one genre-changing success, but few MMORPGs have really shown they can do well in the middle ground. I think WAR will be a MMORPG that does that. |
