If there's any justice in the world... those will be the first ones to be chain-ganked and griefed off the servers.

If they use the same predictable tactics they use in other MMOs.. .they'll be easy to spot.

they won't be bots (just think what a genius botwriter that would take to make a bot that was effective in battle against real players and knew the best things to do in their situations, choosing when to make bank runs (and best, most hidden routes), when to give up on fights, who to engage in fights with by past history with other players, etc).

and you will be able to kill them and take whatever they farmed.  basically, in this game they'll be no different than any other player, except their prime motivation for doing anything will be making money, and not simply trying to dominate people for fun. 

if they can make/keep enough gold to sell, they deserve it.

Heh, and how long until they realise you can't turn off the FFA full-loot PvP? There will be more than enough people hellbent on looting them dry.

Never know.  Maybe these Chinese guys will be the best hand/eye coord guys out of all of China and actually get paid like $2.20 a day instead of $1.18 a day like all the WoW farmers. 

They will quickly become some of the most feared random pkers in the Darkfall world.  All your loot will be pawned quickly and your gold will be sold on a website such as this one within moments after your death to a master Chinese RPK'er.  LOLz.

Would be fun as hell to try and battle these punks for once though and get some "free gold" off them with no credit card needed!  WooT!  That would "pwn" hard, heh.

True.. though in L2, they eventually scripted their bots to force-log when any possible threat was approaching - usually detecting it before a player could even get near them. If there's a delay where your character remains in-game for a time before disappearing, they're still probably screwed.

But, even with people at the keyboard, they still use very noticeable and repetitive tactics. It would be good fun to track 'em down and screw them up.

I'd subscribe just to screw with them. I used to have much fun messing with the gold-sellers in L2 (before they started force-logging anyway).

  I wonder that, if I announced on The DF forums that I would make a character (even against my urge to NOT play this game) solely for killing these farmers, they might just leave me alone and forego griefing me in an effort to allow me to do the ONE thing I've always wanted to do since WoW.

  I mean...WoW DID offer the ability to KILL the farmers.  Which I did, in one case for over 3 hours on the same guy.  But its just no where NEAR as potentially satisfying as killing for 3 hours.....AND looting him.  Hell, I might even be convinced to spread the gold around to players...like some kind of sick, MMO robin hood.

  Now, mind you, I don't hate farmers at all.  Not even in the least.  I just think they need to remember their place in these worlds.  That place is at my service....and that means leaving an area I've come to play in, servicing me in resepect and courtesy what they cannot in gold (except in DF....where I guess they can service me that as well, though not in the manner I'm sure they've been PAID to.)

  As a matter of fact, I may have to at least trial this game just for this pleasure.

  I'd leave my game running and keep the character in the area he logged.  Its almost like killing him over and over...it achieves the same effect.  No play-happy-fun-moniez.   While my character was being used as some kind of virtual, farming, meat-shield....I'd just go play guitar, or whack the lizard, or something else incredibly satisfying....all the while knowing I was also TOTALLY screwing somebody out of making an easy paycheck for running a bot all day. 

  Mmmmm...thats like getting laid twice....AT THE SAME TIME!

Would be fun to videotape the goldfarmers when they try to explain to thier bosses that DF is not L2.

The good side of free pvp, you find a bot or a gold farmer, you can kill it and loot it.

hehehe why bot indeed. How long do you think it will take them to figure out to just go gank players for free loot to sell.

what make you believe that they will farm NPC ? maybe will farm players like YOU and get money from your loot

Its unbelievable how naive are people about some things.

I'm not going to enter on this matter, it has been discused more than enough in these boards.

Just try to realize that RTM is a profitable business. Companies behind it will work hard to find the ways to make their business.

The amount of stupidity in this thread would be amusing if it didn't remind me that this is the future community.

Most gold farmers are NOT bots. Bots are unreliable, generally stupider and easily detectable.

Furthermore, your typical "goldfarmer" is not stupid. Looking at the sliding US/EU school scores, I'd say your average goldfarmer is probably considerably more apt than your average player. As somebody that enjoyed toying with goldfarmers, I can tell you, that they retaliate in coordinated ways because often times, a particular company will have multiple farmers in the same small region.

Further yet, if Darkfall lives up to its "skill based" game play, you won't even be able to muscle out the farmers with your epic gear. ;)

Right on...

In this game there won't be a "single" farmer. They will run around in groups off 5 or more. I even predict they will enter heavy pupulated areas in groups of +20 (might even be +50) and kill/loot everyone before they disapear again (might not take more then 10 min). This could end up in some kind of server event, where all players join in to kill the Farmers, before they log off. Farmers vs Players...

  If it lives up to its skill based gameplay promises...farmers won't be needed anyway.  Ignoring the fact that, ya know, with skill based gameplay there is no gear one would need gold to buy...you could just as easily take a small team of players (3-5 tops) and just pirate some unprepared gatherers.

  On the flip side....

  Without the need for "gear" there is also nothing holding back what farmers need to spend on their own characters to remain defendable in an aggressive scenario.  The ideal of a small army of naked guys with pointy sticks being damn threatening to a small group of guys in plate with swords kinda ruins what little arm strength most players have against farmers.  Couple this with the fact that any major gathering site will be quickly taken and heavily held by long standing guilds from games that came out years before most MMO players were even old enough to walk...and you pretty much negate any ground the farmers have to stand on.

  Sure...its easy to get some money now and sell it.  Lets see that play out when these 800+ guilds of players that have been game hopping since before the new century start claiming land as their own. 

  All this ranting aside...you're very wrong about what most farmers can do.  Your typical "farmer" is NOT a seasoned gamer.  He is cheap labor, hired on the fly by some company that has a strict work schedual and a decent ideal of where to earn the most money far from player and dev eyes.  I've never encountered a singal true farmer (hired help by a major RMT company) that could stand toe to toe with any player of the genre that has been involved for more than 3 months.  The guys I'd waste in other games may as well HAVE been bots (they weren't, the movement wasn't automatic...and they reacted to things I would do in semi-intelligent ways) for what all good they were against me.

  In one case (the 3 hour case) the guy actually snuck up on me and had beat on me for a minute before I realized he was there.  An actual player would have been utilizing skills against me to shut me down...even snaring me to run away if he couldn't win.  This guy basically only used auto attacks.  These true-blue farmers are just pretty inept with technology....I'd place most of them as old as my father.  All kidding about how "dumb" the older generation could possibly be with a PC (many aren't, at least not around the people I know)....the fact is age tends to do things to our hands and eyes that make competing against a decent younger person very hard.

  Hell, even at my age I'm having trouble with my wrists and fingers.  I can feel them tightening up and reacting much less fluidly than they did even a year ago. 

  No..I think that farmers would recieve a very very very very hard road in DF.
