This is not a hate thread at all i love some of the ideas in DF and as a long time shadowbane player im exited about this game but the closer we get to the 22t the less the devs are releasing advertising, info, updated website. A few years back some of you might remember a game called Dark and Light big game good ideas great hype but same type of development no info bad website then one month for launch pre orders for downloadable versions came out then game launched only like 50% done few months company vanished and no refunds some even kept getting dinged for monthly after game was gone by click 2 buy i hope this is not the fate of DF but its starting to smell fishy of how such a great game is being kept in the dark SO close to release. cross my fingers and toes this will not happen agian. |

Has it ever occured to you that maybe you should do a bit of research before you post a topic like this? "This creature softened my heart of stone. She died and with her died my last warm feelings for humanity." - Joseph Stalin |

2 weeks 3 days till launch - no open beta - has not gone gold yet - almost no beta leaks to speak of - most features not exhibited, turned on in beta, or properly tested - no stress test done yet by players - no word on what happened to the mid december beta the odds are stacking up against this game fast.

I have followed Darkfall for YEARS with a cautious optimism. I have always wanted the game to work and I have always been disappointed with the failed deadlines. I love the idea of Darkfall. I was also a cautiously optimistic follower of Dark and Light. It offered so much promise during development but the game that launched was a complete joke. I believe that Darkfall WOULD have been like Dark and Light had they decided to launch it years ago as promised. The game clearly wasn't ready and I think it's pretty obvious the Darkfall developers knew that and pushed back beta several times. However, there are eery similarities between Dark and Light and Darkfall. If you don't believe me or the OP just go to the Dark and Light forum on this site and read the threads from development. It's almost a carbon-copy of this forum. People were skeptical. Fanbois hyped up the game (a lot of them have moved from there to here and are doing the same thing), haters hated on the game. There were excuses from the development team time and time again. Information was difficult to come by. There was no true beta. Like I said, I have followed Darkfall pretty much from the beginning and I REALLY want it to be a success. But I would be a fool to dismiss the similiarities between this game and Dark and Light, and so would the rest of you. I take a cautious approach to Darkfall these days. I hope but I do not fully trust.

I've no clue what you've done to your spellchecker, but perhaps it's time you be the bigger man and apologize. |

I would say many are needy and spoiled, while others are rude and judgmental. I'll leave it up to you to classify yourself in the context of the post above. If you look back to the "first gen" MMOs (UO, EQ, AC1), they were hyped in trade magazines... and that's it. The Internet was a very different entity back then, and the gaming market was owned by consoles (and a Gameboy...always a Gameboy hehe). Distribution of a 500-800MB client file were FAR less common than they are today. In short - people had not yet been given the opportunity to beta test MMOs before they came out (or, as is more common, "try before they buy"). Move forward almost 10 years, and yes, people do expect more. Why wouldn't they? If almost every MMO released in the last several years has offered these "perks", what does it say about the one that doesn't? Slandering the people that point this out doesn't change this fact. Here's an analogy for you: Would you defend the "indie" car that was released without Air Conditioning, and then attack someone who pointed out that all other cars have AC? No? I didn't think so. |

Oh, so the lack of leaked information is actually a good sign. You fans are true masters of spin, I'll give you that. I, too, hope that WoW people can "grow" as MMO players. Unfortunately, this would probably entail not playing a 3d remake of a game released in 1997. |

Originally posted by Azwar Considering all leaks from beta say the game is stable as a rock, I wouldn't worry too much. If you actually research the Darkfall development cycle, there's a LOT to be confident about. Nothing wrong with being cautious now. |

Open Beta and closed Beta to a lesser degree are used as advertising tools now, and are expected from nearly all releases. Lots of reviews and advertising on the web are the norm for all releses today, how many adverts have you seen for DF on the web? I haven't seen Aventurine advertise thier own product once on this site or anyohter, maybe I just missed it! He's right 17 days to go and not even a single "Darkfall coming 22nd of Jan" banner, even thier own website isn't updated! Face reality they aren't releasing this month, either that or they just don't want to make money.

maybe that cant handle a huge launch like other companies that makes since i rather start smaller than most then grow bigger than most. enough people now about the game to have 3-4 servers full. enough want to play it to fill 2-3 servers. im bettign there goign to need at least 2 servers at launch.
but hey keep being negitive its s going to backfire anyways |

Regarding that, Argicola- I actually don't see what they could hope to gain from advertisements. They've pretty much reached the whole of their potential audience already, as this is a game with nearly zero mass-market appeal (by choice). |
