I was wondering what everyone thought about the Developers of darkfall. I personally dont trust them at all lol. They lied so about all those other releases and they never even update their site. Anyways post your opinions on what you think about them.

Also that one review on darkfall at mmorpg made that guy seem like a real asshole.

Thing is they never announced Darkfall for release before.

They have said the reason for this is that they are currently making an entirely new Darkfall site.  I guess for preparation of the launch.  Although it is quite annoying that it is this close to release and they don't even have a site that they are updating to release vital/basic information about the game.

I voted for assholes but I do trust them to an extent, I just wish they handled giving us up to date information a little better, when they had the "beta preview part 1" with all the beta tester comments I was expecting a follow up a week or 2 later, I'm sure with this next phase they might share some more info with us but I find it sad Gianna has basically become their scapegoat to not giving us any information, even though they claim that was not the goal of the previews when it would seem otherwise.

Anyway, a lot of the hype around this game is based on the wishes of fanbois from what I can tell?

Yea the only thing that has been keeping me going is the fact that they have never actually released a specific date like they have this time.  There have been a lot of soon's and should be's but not a set date for release.

And they did make a post to the effect that they are coming up with an entirely new site which is why they havent updated the old one.

I am not getting my hopes up too too much, but I would like to see the game released.  If they do not make good on this date I feel that they will lose a good portion of their following.  I know there will always be people who will follow it regardless of it ever even comes out or not.  But as far as the people who came upon the game recently and have been watching it, I think that a lot of those people will look elsewhere.

Either way, if the game does come out and delivers just most of what it promises I think it will be a great game and will have some big numbers.

Some people are capable of doing every job you hand to them. They are good programmers, good game designers, good at marketing, and good at public relations. But most people are not like that. They are good at one thing, not so good at teh rest.

That's why development companies usually have people that are programmers. They are very good at programming. They also have public relations people and marketing people, that are not very good at programming, but good at those things.

Darkfall has no one that is good at public relations or marketing. Whether or not they are good programmers will be revealed on Jan. 22, 2009.

I don't think its that they don't have anyone good at it as much as it is they don't care about it.    The DF developers have stated several times that, yes, they are a small company and do not have millions and millions of dollars just to put into marketing like some other companies do.  They have also said that they do not care about marketing and they would rather put that money into development instead.  From what Tasos said (and I know he isn't on everyone's fave 5 or anything but...) the Blizzard screenshot department is bigger than Aventurine's entire art department.

I don't know what they next coming weeks will bring for DFO, but if it goes down like it is supposed to we will have a great game on our hands.

But like many have said including myself, I am not getting all pumped up about it until I see a new DFO site up where u can at least see the PC specs and be able to order the digital download.

And to the OP, they have never once given a specific release date for the game.  They have said soon and maybe a lot but never an actual date.  So I am kinda wondering where you are getting....
