I'm glad you resubbed to Age of Conan. I'll be resubbing too soon enough. |

That all aside, I don't think anyone has said the major complaints from the MMO verterns were fixed which are: End game content options, itemization, zoned world, invsible walls. What most people have said was that classes are more balanced (expect the sin!), PvP levels, gear, concequence system, and partial loot (next patch) are in the game or about to be, and crafting has been improved and will be further improved in future patches.

Depends on who they fight against. You know, that whole thing about rock, scissors, paper. I think FC did a marvelous job ensuring that each class remains somewhat unique and that each class also has a nemesis. It's important otherwise the whole thing would just go bland. |

Don't lie to people. 1v1 a decent sin will beat every class if speced correctly, knows when to hinder, and when to pop fear. In group play they are somewhat OP because you can wail on them for a good min or so and they won't take dmg due to their cat's paw and other defense buff and if you manage to do dmg to them they can heal it all back. Yes these skills are on somewhat long CD, but FFS thats still OP.

You have some nerve.. Lie !!! Who lies here. There is no way an assasin can handle any of the Tank classes 1 v 1 if the tank is speced heavy tankish. I know because I have a wide variety of tanks and even though the Assasins initial blow is PAIN, I can remobilze and turn the fight around. Also, remember that no class is identical in AoC due to the destiny quests. If a guy choose all on max damage as he progress in level, he will of course suffer on health and health regeneration side. Also if a guy pop a healing pot, the assasins whole surprise game and sudden initial damage thing falls a bit appart. Get you stuff straight and fcking chill on calling people a liar. |

I don't know what server you are on, but the sins on Tyranny destory solider classes every single time. And you need to chill and not take things people say in a forum so personal because I don't know you in RL and never will so what does it matter if I say you are lying or not. Also, plenty of people lie in these forums.

Ok, lets agree that communication is more fruitfull if people stay away from insulting phrases like, "you liar", "Youre an idiot", "WTF are you thinking on". Again I am not looking to become your friend, but I belive your soldier friends fell for the temptation on going for full damage on all the destiny quests. That is not a good idea. For me a Sin really would have to work his ass of to pull me down, I am specced on high regeneration. |

That's the way it's always been and confirmed by Jayde back in June; thus no one is "speccing" for damage for PvP via the destiny quests because a) they are capped and b) they don't apply in PvP. No temptation to go for something that doesn't apply when you're PvPing. |

Ohh really. I did not know that, hmmmmmmm we better ask Avery or open a post in the AoC official forum on this one. I would have imagined the destiny quests also count in PvP. Again, this was new for me. I guess I am just plain out very good in PvP then |

I've been playing an assassin since day 1 and recently rolled a barb. I've been missing out, the barb owns. |

Let me begin by saying that I got suckered into the hype that was AoC and was sadly disappointed during the few couple of months. However, I am very happy I stuck with it, as Funcom has made great improvements in many aspects of the game, especially with performance. I run AoC on a laptop HP Pavillion dv9335nr, and on launch got around 5-15 FPS on average on medium settings, and crashed quite a few times (along with massive "red" lag spikes). For the past few months my FPS has been anywhere from 30-60 FPS on average (depending on the zone and where I'm looking), and I have yet to crash in 3 months or have a major lag spike (and I'm on Tyranny, one of the most populated PvP servers out there). Yes they've made a lot of improvements to stability, performance, dungeons, and content in certain level ranges, and with the upcoming addition of two new 80 dungeons, another 70-80 zone, and the new itemization (which will redo how stats/feats/skills apply to the character and will add a lot of new item sets), I think this will be the game to beat on the market.
However, I feel like Age of Conan is like Vista, in which everyone hears the name is like "ewww... can't touch that". Well I've had Vista from day one and haven't had a single problem, crash, virus, or spyware issue with it, and yet it still has a horrendous opinion out on the internet. Age of Conan is exactly like this. It had a bad launch full of bugs and stability problems, and now no one will give it a second chance. So my recommendation is simple: if you're tired of all the games out on the market now and are willing to get past the "Oh my god it's Age of Conan and Funcom!" ordeal, give it a shot. You probably will be surprised at just how fun this game is, and after the incoming level 80 content is implemented, the PvP resources are implemented, and DX 10 is implemented (all incoming in patch 1.4, the current patch on testlive), and then the new itemization comes into the game (which is expected in the next patch after 1.4 and is going to make some HUGE changes), I think this game WILL succeed and will not disappoint you. Of course like everything else this is merely my opinion, but don't take this post as a post from a fanboy, because I will admit that Funcom screwed up hardcore at launch and that the game was plagued with problems, but I will also state that I think the game is in very good shape performance and stability wise now and that many additions and improvements have been made, and that the best in terms of additions will make it to live very soon. Kasmos out. |

Aside from that, it's free-to-play, has comperable graphics, skill development, community, economy, crafting, full-time development staff, attentive customer service. Micro-transaction system isnt in, but it doesnt matter since there will be no item or equipment advantages to using it, so the AoC macro-transaction of fleecing their subscriber base is the sux, and RoM free is the win. |

Are the forums still run by volunteers? Are they still charging $$ for free trials? Are they still unresponsive to complaints when they deviate from the Conan license? Did they suddenly start announcing future plans for the game? I could care less about bugs. Everybody knew that the bugs would eventually clear out. It's the lack of ethics and poor vision for the future that keeps me away. Don't be blind, people. There is a right way and a wrong way to treat your customers, and FC is still an example of the latter. "The keys are in your hands. "There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |
