Hero Engine, though I guess thats more from a design standpoint. Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time. If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day. AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD |

The GTA one, maybe Source. AOC seems that have a good engine ( Unreal?). Farcry / Crysis engine was good. The best engine must be Crysis, for open areas shotters, and Source, for corridor shotters (it also do open areas). It seems most MMORPG games use a variant of Unreal, or a custom made. So Unreal has to be the winner of this thread. Anyway I don't like Unreal. And is much more a console engine than a PC one now. So is unoptimized for PC. |

I know. They are making Old Republic with Hero Engine.
Here's a review of the Hero ENgine: http://www.massively.com/2008/12/11/massivelys-interviews-the-makers-of-the-old-republics-game-eng/ But so far nothing is released so you can play a game made with the Hero Engine. Everyone would LOVE to get their hands on the Hero Engine, but it costs a few hundred thousand dollars for a license.

Total War engine... by far.... anyone who's played Rome or Medieval 2 would understand why. It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. |

My favorite engine? Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some f***in' muscle. Oh right, game engine.. The Hero engine looks really promising but untill a game is released on it, I really cant say for sure. The CryEngine/CryEngine2 have made some great games but all in all I would have to say my favorite is the Unreal Engine. Warp |

Anyway, a good dev team with ideas, money and time in their hands > the engine used. |
