I won't be buying this game....I dont want to be pulled along and told what to do at every turn. I prefer an open sandbox style, which doesn't exist anymore. The old SWG, pre-NGE was my favorite game. |

We all love KOTOR. We love Bioware I.E. Mass Effect, BioShock. But this game isn't going to be released until 2010. Why get hyped now? |

I agree. Though I know this was not the game that Bioware and LA set out to make, I was very disappointed that they chose to make a 'story'-based game rather than a 'sandbox' game. Personally, I hagve sufficient mental and social abilities to be be able to make my own story. The cartoonish-style means inevitably less detail and customisation - which, in turn, means less tweaking of character appearance and style. I am also very concerned that whenever the words 'space combat' are mentioned both LA and Bioware try to change the subject back to 'story' and 'companions'. |

Lets face it though, Bioware now is not the same as the Bioware that made those games as it's EA Bioware and most of the talent has probably left. |

After what happened to my beloved SWG, I'd rather be initially underwhelmed and pleasantly surprised by the release. Hope is for suckers. |

Hmmm well it wasn't really what I would call a game it was more like an interactive story with a very generic sci-fi plot. If I want story I can read a book or watch a movie, both of which provide the same thing but at a much higher standard. Devs should start off with a solid game and then add the story, not the other way around. Admittedly I only played it to the first action scene and then uninstalled in disgust. |

You've got a point here. This is where Vogel's hand in TOR gets me nervous (among many other things). I hope they're not neglecting space content for release, as SOE did with SWG. I'm also hoping it has more depth than the cheesy "mini-game" we got in the original KotOR. What ever happened to Larry Holland? Did he become a pariah or something? |

Given the information that I have read on which is limited. I'd have to say that I am very underwhelmed but at the same time I'll remain optimistic because Bioware hasn't failed to make a good game yet. So, I am going to continue to give them benefit of the doubt until I can have a good reason to do otherwise. |

Why does everyone think cuz the game has high emphasis on story it means there is no open world freedom. I am sure the world is going to be open to the player where they can go anywhere they want. Now I doubt its going to be a complete sandbox but being open enough like WoW and unlike Guild Wars is good enough for me, hell they might even make zones bigger than WoW. I doubt even the story will be linear since its going to be like their other games instead where you go in the world and who you meet will prolly depend on combination of choices you make in the game, so how is that linear even for a story? Like for one character there will prolly be a multitutde of branching choices that determines where you will go. Example at the end of Mass Effect the player had the choice to save the councill ship or not and keep most of the human fighters and you had a different outcome in the ending. Now put that in an mmo scale with biowares story mechanics such as you go to this place which branches into its own different story or you choose the other place which branches into its own story and from either it keeps branching off into more choices. You know what I mean? |

I don't get it either. It's like saying DOOM offered more freedom than Fallout 3. |

How does 'cartoonish-style equate to the inveitable loss of customisation'? Really? Because cartoon graphics have less detail than photorealistic graphics. As such, cartoon characters will be less customisable than photorealistic characters. No charge. |

Which MMO is more "photorealistic", City of Heroes or Age of Conan? Which has more customization? |

Exactly. I fear it will be many years or even decades before we see a company willing to step out of th emold and make agame as immersive and sand boxy as SWG pre stupidity. People want to live in the universe and will pay to so as those with 2 3 or 4 accounts in the old days showed. Add a GCW or something similar and people will flock to it. And if what I heard about the graphics is true I highly doubt they'll see my money. Graphics dont make a game but I hae to like what I am looking at. Count Dooku with a three foot long stretched out face is not my idea of realistic graphics as it applies to the SW universe. |
