I dont expect you to admit it Avery but yes AOC at launch was alpha or at best a first week Beta. When the most basic functions important to an MMO look like something designed for an Atari 2600 I would consider it Alpha.

I wouldnt be using the BS thing too much. Your history in  and the company you represent shows  have unloaded metric tons of it. You are getting better but it doesnt change the damage that was done.

AOC is a great game ! its really cool and fun !

This game has the bigges potential of all mmo's, and it will probably be the best mmo in a few more months.

I strongly recommend people to Buy AOC.

AOC is a amazing game that has improved ALOT and will improve alot more.

It was at alpha phase. Alpha is just server testing. Beta? Maybe, but once the crashes were fixed, mostly july finished up in august, the game was launch ready. Just because certain desiered features are missing doesn't mean the game is still in beta. And most games don't have all the features talked about at launch until at least month 6.

I think you have to work for funcom. AoC is the same trash put out by every other game maker. Like i said I PLAYED THE GAME I SEE WHAT IT LIKE AND ITS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME!!!!!!! Lets set the record.

1) Bugs crashes ect i dont care about.

2) Lvling is not quick and AoC forces you to run pointless missions. Go collect 20 vemon sack. Its a quest in game. Same as all games out.

3) COMBAT IS NO DIFFERENT!!!! Instead of pushing one icon to preform a attack , now you have to push two icons. You cant see any of the attacks because you forced to watch the icons and wait for them to glow! Its a bad idea.

4) If you want content play any other game on earth. They all have thousands of countless, mindless missions you can run. AoC has ton of mindless missions. But it has NO player made content. It claims it should but with the EXTREMLY Unblanced classes All player content is killed.

5)Drednaught said that he thinks AoC is Different from WoW.  This makes me think that dreadnaught never played any other game/mmo besides this one. AoC=WoW=EQ2-=every pile of trash out there.

6)I posted this because i wish i had Half this information b4 i bought the game. Im just tryying t o save people a little money.

The combat system and sieging are the only thing different with AoC, but the things they are adding are making the game better and giving it a different feel

If you've never played AoC, let me put this into WoWspeak.

let's say, you have a Rogue, and you use sinister strike. You hit the button; and the ability fires and hits your opponent. Quick animation, quick execution; providing you have the energy.

In AoC, to do a melee skill at level 80, You're going to have to hit 3 keys in succession to it; and if you miss any of the hits the final ability diminishes in power. So in PVP; if your opponents moving around, it's not going to be that fun. Also; after you fire off the ability, the animation itself takes 6-8 seconds. So if you can picture you running around a gun hitting these keys in succession, all while using one of your three anti CC buttons, or one of your 5 self short duration buffs, then actually LANDING the last hit; your character stands there, flailing around hitting your opponent; as your opponent runs off and gains distance on you (but still taking damage from the overly long attack animation).

That's the melee combat in a nutshell. You need 5 keys to do what's done automatically by other games, and there's an excessive amount of redundant abilities at level 80. The trees are terrible and there is no end game at all unless you like raiding.

The game starts well enough, quick attack animations, short combos; the problems aren't apparent early on, but as you make your way farther into the game; you get more and more intricate combos that require you to land a stun to even get off. Only a lot classes has some kind of ability to break or prevent it... So that's kind of meaningless.

If you look at the combat and are thinking it looks like an action RPG, you're sorely mistaken. This is a traditional RPG with cast times tacked on tot he melee abilities firing... Oh, and simon says.

Combat in AoC is the best on the market, easyly. And here is the best thing of it all, combat in AoC is not "ok mobs, lets line up now and let me kill you one after another", it is real pastpaced slaughter of all of them at the same time. Unbelivable fun compared to WOW combat.

I find it hilarious how people say that the combat is worse because its hard. These are the same complaints people had when games started introducing advance LOS where your character didn't auto turn to face the guy.

Sorry you guys can't play a dumbed down version of a fighting game. I'm actually hoping that DF takes it a step further and lets you doge magic attacks. Wait .... they are. GL playing that game if you can't play this one.

Lol no one said its bad because its hard lol. You need to watch who you call dumb. If you think your good at a hard game(AoC) your wrong. Yes I think they are adding content. They made Ymirs pass and just put on 3 dungeons on the test server. EQ2 started out bad too but is a good game now.

But yes, if you think games will have to have a million subs not be a flop then you are totaly right, all MMOs are flops 'cept Wow and Guildwars then.

Just because you don't like a certain game doesn't make it bad.

And someone said AoC isn't hard... That is right it is just a little harder than Wow so it is kinda easy if you don't PvP, is not many hard games around right now, Guildwars in hard mode is the only one I can think of.

you sir have lost all credibility and sanity. I will agree with others this game had its bugs, and there is still things to iron out, not to mention the inclusion of launch features. but the game has its charm, is fun, one of the few PVP games I had of fun in. I unsubbed because of some of the underlying issues, that they are currently ironing out and I plan to go back in once they have included the big DX 10 patch and new content patch for lvl 70-80 areas. once again I wont deny it had its teething problems but this game is far from being WOW or EQ2. I leveled a lvl 80 Conqueror(brute 2hd), a lvl 77 necro (nightfallspec) lvl 40 TOS (lightning spec) and had loads of fun in tortage,and even in the main game, where anything goes, but it never feltlike a grind, even when i was grinding lol.

i have played all 3 from launch up until recently or still playing, so pack ya shit and get out of here, your just trolling and we in the MMORPG community, do not have any food to feed you trolls.

hell to add to a note, eq2 even had soul shards you had to retrieve back when it first launched lol. where you lost a % of your xp lol you had to follow a wispy trial back to your corpse shard lol. now its completely different animal than it once was.

either way despite its faults, AOC is a very good game i believe if Craig and his team keep doing what they are doing they will slowly over time prove that their game is worth a sub. people like predicibility, a constant where they can feel comfortable that something isnt going to change, or fuck up on them over night. so if craig keeps to his word and things improve, things will look up for the game. I for one will be willing to go back to AOC if they turn themselves around and prove their worth.
