Would be interested to try hoth and all that good stuff without having to fork over 14.95 and only enjoying it for 2 or 3 days. I'd be more willing to sub if I found enough stuff to keep me busy.

Hoth is not good.

It's just a reminder of how little resources are put into SWG and how SOE will put new art into the game with loot cards but not for an Instance.

They are just stringing along those who still play. Gotta get as much money as they can out of it before the end.  

As a current player I can tell you the battle for echo base (Hoth) is a blast. And it's all new artwork as well (what was that poster smoking?). If you have not been in game for a while you will find tons of new content to keep you busy. Currently Lifeday is going on with great gifts, a new speeder quest and more.

In answer to your vet trial question there will most likely be a trial coming up shortly because of the free server transfer that starts on January 13th to March 31st.

Why does the current playerbase have such low quality control :(

Go play WoW with it's amazing hand crafted feeling new content where everything has sooo much detail put into it.

Then play SWG where Hoth its Tatooine with a white texture, where the walker things are the same models that were in before and just pasted over and over again with other vehicles. The base interior uses mostly art thats been int he game and no detail has gone into it what so ever.

It's just shameful at the low quality of the content added to SWG.

Snow Speeder and clothing doesnt quite equal "all new art work" imo, hell even the "Wampa" is a reskinned Graul.

The new snowspeeders, imperial and rebel armor, the ENTIRE inside of the base is all new artwork, the Ion cannon I can go on and on about the all new HIGH QUALITY artwork. 

SWG galaxies is so far above WoW as far as how the game looks it's not even funny.  

i hupe there are no more vet trials we dont need them trying to make game not fun for us who like it.

they just need to muve on.

The last announced vet trial was in November, and they did launch the Hoth publish during that period, so I had a chance to take a toon to Hoth.

What you should do is check your old account, see if your status is "pending", and if it is, you should be able to just login to your old account and start checking things out.

Got an e-mail for my main late Nov/early Dec for a 2 week trial and just got one for my Alt last week but it concerned the free server move more than a trial.

I would have done the main for a trial but the 5 hour D/L was a big turn off.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but this is another way that Blizzard does things right, as opposed to the SOE method.

You can update your WoW client without having a live subscription to the game.  So your 10 day trial need not have half a day (or more) of the trial eaten by downloading the updates since you last were live.

Not so with SWG.  You must be "active" to download the updates.  So your "free trial" is shortened by however long it takes to download all the updates.

I'm not interested in another vet trial.  They need to move on and market to the target audience the NGE was designed for, since the morons have NEVER taken the NGE back, just tried to plaster layer upon layer of makeup on it.

 SOE has proven so many times over that even if they take a step forward they follow up by taking 5 steps back.

I started to enjoy my free vet month (early 2008) and actually resubbed. I had fun till the stupid card game released. What a pathetic waiste of rescources. They could have done so much more to Hoth (LIKE MAKE IT A PLANET NOT  CHEESY INSTANCE). The card game took away even more people on a already light server. GREAT IDEA SOE!

SOE's idea of content is expecting you to run Hoth about 50 times before you get any decent rewards. Over and over and over.....That's Iconic! /sarcasm off

The game has turned into a rat race themepark with nothing being added but a instance here and there.

Now on top of that, the "free server move" is VERY limited to certain servers. Me being on Gorath with my main is just done now, because I can't move off the server as it is a "Target" server. LIKE ANYONES GOING TO MOVE TO A DEAD SERVER. 

Not to mention this RMT SOE is delving into now after clearly stating they "Never" would do RMT.

More lies and pathetically horrendus descisions. Screw you SOE.

WoW detailed? lol it looks like a cell shaded cartoon - guess it keeps some entertained. I'd rather not have content that looks like it was designed by a 5 year old in about 10 minutes.

The base interior uses virtually all new art, and there is quite alot of detail, maybe you went to the wrong place :|

Yeah because the ridiculous particle effects and methed out combat animations are so professionally done in the NGE...

I really don't think SWG fanbois should be calling out other games on their artwork.

Well they're trying again.

As of 13 Jan it seems all inactive accounts have been re-activated for 30 days.  Along with this is the free toon transfers.  (And a snowball making machine!!! WTF?!?!? Yea that will really turn around SWG ..... snowballs on Tat!)

Part of it; they say, has to do with their March building cleanup and just maybe some SOE type actually read my post that just blowing buildings up wasn't enough and they'd need to just pack 'em all away cuz that's what's suppose to happen to any building on an account that hasn't seen movement since July 08.  Of course does the 2 free account activations they've done since then negat that lack of movement?  Any Takers?

My 2 youngest's wanted to see their old toons and since my oldest 'gave' an account to my middle boy so they could play together (right before his laptop touched itself prior to returning to San Diego) we brought their old account up and I did the move to Starsider thing for them.  Starsider must have some movement going as it took a couple of times to get them over.  From what the oldest said it's the one that most RP'ers are going (back) to.

I did my old account too since I was at it and will check it out and let people know what I see.  As of last night I was able to move my level 32 over, but kept getting blocked on my level 90 main.  Could have been just bad timing so I'll try again tonight as I'd rather check things out with him.

I can say that as of last night on Kett server>Tat>Mos Eisley I saw 6 to 8 players between the spaceport and cantina between 7 and 8 pm (PST).

to answer your question about vet trials, in checking my old accounts they are all listed pending again. Means there is a trial going on currently.

Oh I plan to.  I've seen his screen shots and I think it's a given that there will be more players on Starsider than Kett.  The whole fun factor being there or missing will be the true test.  Granted there's been new stuff in the year I've been gone, but is it new stuff I want to play with?  The card game is a BIG no, so we'll see.

Hey all I have a question.  Gutboy's "new quality artwork" comment got me thinking.  Is the artwork / graphic's really THAT much better or is it just that we all have better quality computers now than we did back in '03 when SWG came out?  Or a combo of the 2?
