Still, better to subscribe than play on the free shard. The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon |

#1 Guild wars is not an mmorpg, alright even though it has way more community and population than 90% of mmorpgs could ever hope to have and it is a MASSIVE it is a MULTIPLAYER it is ONLINE and it is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. Ill buy this , because its not MASSIVE all the time, since its instenced, so ill live with it not being an mmorpg
#2 It is FREE 2 PLAY I even put PLAY in bold letters, PLAY meaining you can PLAY IT for free, Even though you have to pay Up front. That being said, most Free 2 play and free 2 download mmorpgs end up costing u more in the long run if you plan to stick with them and do the end game stuff than GW will ever cost. |

Sword of the New World and Ragnarok Online remain installed on my PC. I also drop back into ArchLord from time to time, and I might give RF Online another go once it relaunches.
I have yet to try Runes of Magic though, Apparently it's actually pretty decent. |

I have two atm: Atlantica and Perfect World......I'll most likely add Runes of Magic soon also...... I dont really have a problem with f2ps like so many of the forumites seem to........Ive played many p2ps and to me the f2ps arent that much worse........Games like WOW, LoTRO, EQ2, etc are fun for a short time but they get boring also and they cost too much for the value.......Id just as soon play for free and when I get bored I just move on to something else...... |

Originally posted by Kordesh Yes it is. Just because you have to pay upfront for the client doesnt make it not F2P. I'll correct it for you however. GW is not an MMO.
By this definition, LOTRO is free to play also, because you can purchase a lifetime subscription. F2P means that you dont EVER have to pay. It could could also be argued that it also means you get acess to the whole game (so Pirates of the Carribean and The Chronicles of Spellborn are not F2P) not just limited acess, with the rest available upon payment. |

I still dont get the "the f2ps cost more in the long run" stuff.....i have yet to play a f2p where I had t o pay a dime.....No one is forcing you to do anything.......They prey on people who feel that they have to be the best all the time or they wont play...... People like myself are just looking for a fun game to play, not necessarily to rule the world.........Also GW shouldnt be classified with many of the f2ps because it sint free....You have to buy the game and the expansions, which you will certainly find out quickly is far from free......Yes it is cheaper than the p2p models but nowhere as cheap as a true f2p.....Also the game is almsot totally instanced and it feels like a single player game with otehrs around more than a true MMO. |
