I did a search for this but nothing came up, i apologize if this has been done before but i was wondering what starship you'll be in, if available, and the name you've picked.

If my fears about this game is unwarranted i'll be in this:

I've always been fond of the Miranda class myself but would be more than happy with an Akira if the Miranda is just too old. They are somewhat similar in configuration so either would be good.

Feh, the Miranda is still is service....but in the process of being decommissioned i hope they do incorporate the older designs though...from a tactical standpoint it would be hard to determine what it's capable of, if you're able to add weapons/hardpoints that normally wouldn't go.

No i wouldn't go that far, it's just a nod to Wrath of Kahn, my favorite of all the movies.

Generally speaking, any ship in a Star Trek game which has a large amount of torpedoes, drones or fighters as its main armaments wins the battle.

Best tactics are to use fighters, drones or shuttles to extend sensor range and minimize detection of the ship.  Once the enemy is discovered, either launch available fighters/drones, or move in and fire off a swarm of drones or torpedoes.

My preferred ships have a small profile, fast speed and make extensive use of remote vehicles or weapons.  Phasers... bah, those are defensive weapons.

Example:
USS Adventure (I didn't make this one, found this nice one on the net, better than a side pencil sketch)

I like that pic, it is sleek, four engines for power and speed, with six fighter bay doors (though I would replace them with torpedoe or drone launchers).

If a Klingon, well a Battleship:

Although I would prefer a Mercenary Ship...  oh well.

i wish they'd set it during the klingon/federation hostilities of the movies era, when a bird of prey was an equal match for the best starfleet had to pull out with the right tactics. i just hope that ppl going klingon will be down for galactic pvp and join my armada against starfleet.

I'm going with the NX-91001 right now. This is the first new ship design of STO. I love the Sovereign Class and this ship is the successor to it.

This ship will be bitc%%in!! 

Second choice will be an Akira.

I like the Big D fron TNG as well, but it seems outdated now.
