The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |
Ok, I what to ask you what's wrong with this: s***
Obviously you know what this word means, but I just received a temporary ban for using it.......I mean, I was banned for using a word I personally censored....
And the context of my message wasn't even in any means attempting to insult someone.

I know, I just felt like ridiculing them for how much of a bunch of pansies they are....I know trolling can be a major problem, but are they serious with the way they've been banning ppl left and right...lol There will always be some horseing around with any forum board, and there will always be those that will try and sneak in censored words........but to ban someone for using a censored word...haha....that's just rich, and this was my first infraction with them..... |

Although it'll depend on usage and the like, putting that aside I don't consider censored obscenity any better than noncensored obsenity. Like you said, everyone knows what you're implying, so basically you just said it. There's no need for obscenities in discussions/arguments and if you can't make a point without it, better to just not make a point at all in my opinion.

So you saying, let's say on television, anytime a censory block was added by the networks over obscenity and could't be controlled on a show at the time... Every soccer mom that allows his or her child to stay up late to catch these broadcasts has the right to sue the network over this?
Over obscenity that wasn't broadcasted but was implied???
Anyways the forums rules state that you need to pick up over 8 infractions in order to receive a ban....they broke their own rules by banning me on the 1st implied attempt that I made...see what I mean??

Wow, there's this and then there's that. Apples and Oranges. Those two situations are not in any way similar and it's certainly not a way for you to justify knowingly pushing out censored obscenities "Simply because you can".

It's a sign of immaturity to think that swearing somehow makes you 'un-pansy', or that people who dislike reading swear words are pansys. Letting a swear word slip out while talking happens, but purposefully typing a swear word (or masking one) just shows you are a kid with a misguided opinion of what 'mature' means. yeah comparing tv censorship to forum censorship is different by alot, sucks that they broke thier rules and banned you first offence but you did break the rules so its your own fault. |

Sorry, the apples and oranges argument here doesn't apply, unless that program is live(in which since there would hardly be any measure taken in time to over up that obscenity). Most shows are recorded, and for the fact that a network doesn't edit out that outtake is a flat out excuse to imply obscenity for the sake of ratings. Cuz hey, obsenity does sell!
Anyways I'm going to abandon thise arguement since it's bound to grow vaguer by the minute. How do you explain the fact that they broke their own rules and stated a ban on my account on the 1st infraction I've ever recieved on those boards...hmmm |

Very easy... you agree to certain rules when you create an account on any forum. You don't like their rules, don't post there. Stop wasting space ranting about your own stupidity. Contrary to popular belief, censoring oneself does not hide the fact of the intent to use the word (i.e., it is obvious the word you were using, even if masked mostly with asterisks). |

I think they're pansies for instating a ban over the 1st infraction I've ever made. Hell is already common practice to sneak in swear words into forums by most users, but the fact that my innocent attempt to do so espeically since I took the liberty of censoring it myself was deemed banable is just uncalled for. Plus, you do know I have a right based on these forums guideline for reporting you for insulting me as being an immature child....you do know this right?
But guess what? I just won't do such a thing because I find that to be childish and immature! |

My own stupidity huh...?? You do know that's an insult, how would you like it if you were to receive an infraction right now over this....and possible receive a ban even if this was your 1st infraction....it would suck huh....so do you not see the point of my argument here?

I think it was a bit harsh to ban you for that to be honest. Are you sure it was was for that or for the content of what you said? Did they say that was the reason?
Rules are to guide wise men and for fools to follow.

Soccer mom is generally used to describe a suburban, married, housewife type women who's entire life revolves around her family. It's not really a 'put-down', more just a fact of her lifestyle. If you are a flaming liberal who thinks every woman should have an 80hr a week career, then I guess you could put-down the 'soccer mom' lifestyle... but generally it's not an insult. The OPs use of the term doesn't really make sense. Most forum people would use the Nazis or Communists to describe someone who tries to control free speech. A soccer mom wouldn't be running a forum, they would be baking cookes or driving their kids to soccer practice. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. On the other hand, I wouldn't see a soccer mom condoning the use of foul language... Very silly ban, I think. The general media is guilty of much worse every day. Silly thing, in general. There is no sequence of syllables that should be reasonably considered offensive, in and of itself. On the other hand, it should not be difficult to refrain from rendering them openly if any member of the audience may find it distasteful. |
