Oh, I'm sure SOE is paying people to post in forums just like this one as part of their viral marketing scams. I'm willing to bet a few of them have posted in this very thread. |

I've been without SOE for about 8 years now. I will never forgive them for ruining my beloved EQ!

Sony free in general. I know that SOE and sony are somewhat separate but the ps3 was shipped early over priced and for the life of me I still don't see a reason to own it at this time(blueray is not the now its the future). Funny when they gave me a few months of time in EQII with the expansions I started to get a bit soft on them, granted I will never forget what they did to my fav game of all time (SWG pre-suck), but honestly microtransactions in your pay per month flagship product? Its not hard to hate a company that seems to have the same disdain for the consumer as we have for them at this time. I honestly was shocked when looking at the threads on the EQII forums about the changes, people were so pissed but they pretty much accepted the fact that SOE doesn't give a crap what they want and will generally do the opposite. Honestly guys how many times does a company have to take a figurative dump on you before you move out of the way. Smed makes hating SOE, and if thats the type of guys running sony in general, then hating SONY easy. They are money grubbing completely out of touch with the player base and they will lie like a politician in a close race right to your face, right before screwing you over.

Well boycotting EA-games has not worked for me yet, I dont see them putting any of the plethora of mmo's they shitcanned back up as I was a and still am a die hard earth and beyond fan http://www.wiki4mmo.com/index.php?title=MMORPG_Graveyard playing eq2 and two worlds |

Does anyone have any website making skills? I just thought it would be nice to pass along the word through a site and have a center where people can talk and discuss an SOE boycott. |

I suppose I count for the boycott too; not from any sense of moralistic outrange. I just don't like their games. |

I've been boycotting SoE since 2004, when they decided to add in game advertisements to Planetside. I don't pay a monthly fee to view advertisements thanks. |

The added benefit is, search engines prefer blogs, and there's more tools to promote a blog from scratch (e.g., Digg, Technorati, etc.). Also, it allows anyone with even an ounce of internet knowledge to put up their own shingle. Suggest strongly to use Wordpress, as it's a blog standard with many modders who can help you customize it. And if you can't find the help, sites like Rent-a-Coder can help you get one up in a cheaper manner and without the hassles of waiting on others to do it for you -- how many a special interest site (let alone game mod) fails as interest fades over time. This route is the best way, as your site will also have a professional polish on day one, which helps attract the news media (your best friend on these issues). -- ~Leonardo da Vinci |

Thanks guys for the tips! I just also want to say I'm really floored and amazed by all the support shown so far for an SOE boycott. You can continue to help and show support by spreading the word around wherever you can. Keep up the great work everyone! I strongly feel by banding together, we as players can make a significant impact and a difference to not only the current state of MMORPGs but also far more importantly for the future gamers. I'm glad to see so many people standing up and being vocal about this boycott. Even if you've been SOE free for a few hours to a number of years you are doing your part to help! Anyone can make a difference. So please, continue to post and show support! Thanks everyone! |

Sure worked for Spore DRM issue. |

Thats actually a good idea, it certainly made an impact on EA's Spore sales when the word was quickly spread about its illegal DRM. |
|
|
Also, here is where you can leave feedback about Star Wars Galaxies on Amazon: and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: I would also like to propose to make the month of February 2009, "We don't agree with RMT" month. So I would like to invite current SOE players that may enjoy SOE games but do not support RMT and want to make a statement to SOE about it, to log off for one month during Februrary. Please help get the word out! Thank you. |

How has it been effective with EA? They're still putting terrible DRM schemes in their games (brought to you by Sony ironically) and corporate still claims that the people who don't like it are a "minority." Sony in general, ESPECIALLY their entertainment devision, are famous for outright hating their fans and generally acting like elitest douchewagons, publicly no less. I doubt they care what anyone has to say about anything. They've been doing what they want to do and have been slowly killing the entertainment devision of Sony for the past few years. The only thing keeping it afloat right now is the electronics division and blu-ray dividends. Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts. EAT ME MMORPG.com! |

They just released a majority of its major titles on steam DRM free, I call that a major win.
