One of the biggest seelling point for me was collision detection. Imagining lines of players holding ground against one another. As far as I can tell it still does not work. That really ruined it for me. I face a guy for a few seconds then they lag way past me and I can't catch them. |

Biggest Hope: A game with a huge focus on Open RvR. Biggest Dissapointment: The game turned out to be a huge focus on scenarios. Basically, this was the number one reason why I left. The good thing is though, they seem to be fixing this major problem with great haste. Chances are I'll be resubbed within a month or so.

I went in expecting a great PVP MMO and that is what I am getting. Especially after the patch. As far as dissapointment, I knew going in no game is perfect and without flaws, so I am not dissapointed with anything. I play fantasy games, but I live in reality. Nothing is perfect, but this game is fun and has gotten better and better with each patch. |

This bascially setup all ORvR lakes as a sort of big PQ where you need to kill players, hold keeps, adn take/hold BO's to get the area influence. As you get your influence up you can choose an appropriate type of NICE armor. Attached to this system is the renoun ranks so you have to have BOTH area influence and an appropirate renoun rank to get the armor. Result: Everyone has come into the ORvR lakes and scenarios are starting to be less improtant (though some still use them for the renoun farming) but there is now constant ORvR going on day and night with massive groups of people. Downside: The server stability once you get more than 200+ people into a zone starts to go down and crash. They're workign on it but right now its a tad bit annoying. |

I too live in reality, and in reality I was told about realistic collision detection, and in reaity it doesnt work. I guess I just expected a company to have what it said it had, silly me. |

My biggest hope was that combat would be like DAOC only better.... Disappointment, combat is more like a shooter and without consequence.

Well after the AoC disaster, I didn't hope for much. Turns out it's quite a fun game, especially after 1.1a, albeit with some !@#$ performances in big battles. |

WAR should've been the successor to DAoC. Unfortunately I was met with few people in the RvR zones; most couldn't be bothered outside of scenarios. Who knows though, supposedly the latest patch encourages more RvR participation. On a positive note, and really not meant as a dig to WAR, but WAR marks the last time I'll bother with either a beta program or release. The past few years have been on big dissappointment after another, and I'd rather let a game mature a bit before giving it a go. Ico |

My biggest hope AND disaspointment was that it would get fair reception by forum trolls. The game itself is superb imho ( especially now after 1.1a ) the only disaspointment I have so far is the way it was received by players.

Well, I had 2 big dissapointments with WAR: 1. They used the level based system we seen in any MMO instead of GWs brilliant system from Warhammer fantasy roleplaying game. The original system would be so much more intresting in PvP. 2. They had 2 sides instead of 3 and the races can't backstab the other races on the same side. Greenskins would have made a good side by themselves, the lore that makes them on the same side as Chaos are weak at best. They should have put in skavens on chaos also to balance it and more kinds of greenskins. Other than that and a too early release I didn't get any big dissapointments with the game. And the game do have some nice features too, even though it is off topic to list them here. |

i think that skaven are a race for themselves and cant be associated with chaos..... i wonder if they will implement them will they be like their own faction (like order destro and i dont know rats xD) or will they be like on destro side and what will go to order... wood elfs ? :D |

Hopes: Collision detection, slower paced combat with time to think, better layout of keeps and encounters in PvP and PvE compared to DAOC, better class balance. All have been delivered.
Dissapointments: Squig Herder does not use a herd of squigs like originally concieved. Witch Elf and Witch Hunter use the stupid "predator" like stealth ability which I thought this game would stay away from. Biggest dissapointment: Impatient, short sighted, players who nit pick every problem as a huge game breaking flaw. The same players who swear DAOC was a better game, when in fact DAOC was a much much worse game at launch with absolutely no reason to RvR for about 6 months after its launch.
Pleasant surprises: White Lion combat mechanics. Extremely well put together scenerios, which are also a bane. Survival capabilities of healers. Auto facing while attacking. |

True, but if I'm a fan of DAoC why wouldn't I expect Mythic to pick-up where it left off? RvR is THE fundamental mechanic in WAR. How scenarios and all the other issues associated with RvR got out of beta is beyond me. Personally, I thought WAR had a decent enough launch stability wise. Ico |

My greatest Hope: A game that was fun, had a healthly mix of game play and great PvP/RvR. I have gotten that in spades. RVR in scenario's is fun, and makes grinding PVE more fun... the wife and I do a few quests and oh hey, Queue popped, time to bash some heads in! Then there are times we go out and hit up the Open RVR action, and with the new patch, it's certainly more active!
My greatest dissappointment:
The damned players. The idiots that run off solo, instead of working as a group to win... the idiots that chase the one or two destruction players leaving the rest of us to deal with the mass that comes for the flag.
Namely, just the people. Always change your signature. |

Sound nice but what will happen once ppl grinded the oRvR area influence? Back to the scenario grind for RR? |

Each Realm has a completely different set of RVR items if you want all the items so you have a full Set of Blue / Purple gear you ahve to ORVR in All the realms. By the time you gain max INF in all 3 realms you're extremely close to the max level of the Teir especially if you scenarioed or pve'd at any point. Its been three days and the battle in Nordland has yet to cease its slowed down a bit during the day times but at night its rather packed. T2 there's battles on just about every front ... some people just keep on coming back until they Level Out because it IS actually fun now that people are there. Will this be everyone' smentality? Will this be on every server? No but its a whole lot more and enough so far to keep things fun and wild. |
