I have not made a single post knocking Darkfall's screenshots. But, every last of those screenshots are straight from the Darkfall webpage, and do not represent what I have seen from the few (the proud, the) Darkfall beta testers. I am sure this is what the game looks like at high settings. It is beyond EQ1 in my humble opinion. perhaps equal to SWG or Ryzom in terms of setting. But, alas, they are only screenshots. The point of view changes with weapon equipped (1st, vs 3rd person). We'll see in June. Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom. Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR. |

They ran out of money by the time they got to the gameplay and avatars, and that was 2 years before launch =). Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst. |

Good compared to what? This is, almost, 2009 and AoC, and even EQ 2, looks much, Much better than Darkfall. I would say the games gfx are on par with WAR which has been criticised for its poor gfx. |

I don't think graphics in an MMO have to be outstanding. They have to be good. It is the game play that matters most. If someone nit picks graphics, we probably don't want them playing the game with us anyways. Less whiners. |

I'm totally with Kruugar here. Too much concern with graphics and not enough with gameplay ruin most games. Asdar |

This is true. Really they should make sure the mechanics are near perfect and then start modeling. If a game is launched and has fab game play then the graphics can certainly come second. Hate to say it but I probably have been playing AoC longer than usual because of the landscapes (and music) just so happened that they improved it so its pretty decent now but graphics can not keep that long term relationship as it just feels hollow in the end. |

You say how DF is like DnL, but DnL got people to preorder the game and sold it as good and finished when it was not. So untill Df asks for money you cant compare it to the failure that was DnL. It may not have been your MAIN point, but you have it in your post right before "Hence why my skepticim radar is pinging red." It shouldnt be "pinging red" untill they ask for your money, unless design ideas set or your "radar". |

Anyone know where to find the screen shots of the city made into the mountain? |

it's pretty amusing that graphics are even an issue to anyone when the market leader MMO has some of the lowest-quality, outdated graphics in the history of the genre. doesn't stop it from having a near monopoly on the market. |

Originally posted by Soundbyte But they are done with skill, and style. Not amateur level quality. All the polygons in the world won't help crappy art.
Some of Darkfall looks great, other parts...not so much.

You are confusing number of polygons with quality. Wow graphics are an example of artistic quality and talent, with a low polygon count. Just the opposite to Darkfall. |

The biggest thing that people are missing about the screens, is that most of the enviroment is animated.
Tree branches, clouds, grass, smoke, shadows, and other elements move. |

Everyone loves the look of a game that is pleasing to the eye. But I can guarantee that many of the people that THINK they can run this game, can't. You're talking mass-scale player-killing with graphics that even supercede Warhammer by (what it seems) a medium margin. I have one of the top of the line computers and I even lagged on max when a Keep Siege would happen with 100+ people.
The game ideas look great, the release date is sketchy, but think about ACTUALLY playing it on your computer... Yikes. He who keeps his cool best wins. |

Who cares about graphics? All the real PvPers have been playing Shadowbane for years and are ready for ANYTHING new that is based around PvP. So i'm sure they will get a decent sub base - Problem is MMOs are'nt really keeping em anymore. (Too many MMOs now)
