ok... i think i have a pretty sweet system but GFX arent as good as i see em on youtube and as people say they are... they're really jaggy and the ends of my character have jaggy lines... very crappy-like my specs: nVidia GeForce 8600 series 2.66gb ram dual-core processor intelli directx9 (windows xp) please help. my gfx options are on full? please post some images on how they SHOULD be, thanks!

Jaggy lines is resolved by using the anti-aliasing feature I'm pretty sure LOTRO supports it, I haven't played it in a while. If it does, turn that on to like 4x or 8x and you will notice a big difference. Current: DDO |

Jaggies are eleminated in options -> graphics -> antialias. Set it at, options are 2X, 4X, and 8 X. it does put more load on your graphics card so the higher you set it the lower your FPS will be. For me the DX10 is not worth taking a performance hit and dumping my Win XP for. The only real difference I can percieve is the shadow quality and yeah I know it has to do with volumetric lighting etc etc. For more info on DX10 here is a good little article from XBit labs www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/directx10-games.html I miss DAoC

I play with an 8800 GTS 640mb +C2D 6600 and 4 gigs of ram. Excelent performance high framerate DX10 (with vista 64) and all settings max on 1680x1050
It looks great
Also i think your 2.66 GB of memmory is a rather strange number....
Just toy around with advanced graphics settings and see where it gets you, this is after all the best looking MMO till date on the right system.....

www.mmorpg.com/photo/cffd6e46-38b7-45b7-9aa7-ae2b566d9dd0 The key to good graphics in LotRO is a good GFX card 8800GT at least, Vista for DX10 and a monitor which supports 1900x1200 (see image) At 1900x1200 there's no real need for anti-aliasing, infact at that resolution I'd slow the system down if I enabled anti-aliasing.

8600 is a mediocre card, I got sucked up in that one as well, best to just get a 8800GT.

It can be used in XP, howerver DX10 is vista only. |

The 8800GT is just as good, if not better on XP. I too went from an 8600GT to a 9800GT (which is pretty much the same as an 8800GT), the 8600 pales in comparison. Playing - LotRO, SWToR |

Depending on your computer case and how your motherboard, you can go up to a dual slotted card. The only reason I went to 8800GT was because it was a single slot card, dual slot wouldn't fit on my mobo. I personally would recommend as a dual slot card is the new dual gpu ATi cards, it is like Sli without the bridge, then you also would have half of the video need for the full fuction spider system which is 4 core cpu and 2 core gpus x2 giving you 8 total cores of insane geekdom !
I run vista btw. It workks fine and just AS stable as xp, atleast for me and my application that I run which include gaming, an Adobe Suite , Cubase and other multimedia apllications :) |

There are 2 clients for D/L the regular and the hires version that has high resolution textures. If you installed from a DVD you should have the hires ****************************** |
