That doesn't mean there won't be microtransactions, it just means they aren't going to tell us there will be yet. Big difference. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

Yeah if it wasn't going to be MT then I see no reason why they would not just come out and say it will not be. Instead they just throw out some fancy foot work saying we haven't announced anything officialy lol. So, until they say it will not be a MT based game I will stick with the fact they have said it will be LOL. |

They do, in fact, say that they have not decided on anything.
Again...(for the fourth time now), I am pretty much convinced EA did this (probably without telling BW about it), to test reactions to such a business model.
The reaction was a thread on the official forum that burst to 60 pages and more in an hour and grew to over a hundred pages in the last day, and still continuing to grow, with about 99% negative feedback on specific MT models. Plus a drop in hype on this site, if they check this at all.
*shrugs* They got their reaction. |

Kinda reminds you of a certain Dev for a certain game who is extremely good at playing with words so they fit every circumstance...doesn't it? |

Won't deny that lol. Still doesn't change the fact that all EA and Bioware are saying is that it isn't official. With the reactions they got, there best bet would to be come out and say point blank there won't be microtransaction's. Besides it's a bit different when the majority following the game go, meh ok vs when the majority following the game say "WTF!!!!!!!!!! F THIS IM OUT!" lol. |

That's what everyone is hoping for I suppose. *shrugs*
Or at least, to clear up what they mean with MT's. I mean...EVE has MT's. WoW has MT's. Many games have MT's that are agreeable and are -OK- to a certain extent (that would be name change, server-transfer, large content upgrades maybe, or, in EVE's case, In-Game Credits for GTC's).
One more time, let's say it all together: This was a calculated leak on EA's part to gauge the market for a MT business model. Nothing more, nothing less. A stupid move, and I'm pretty sure even BioWare would say so (if they were allowed LOL), but a business-move to stake out the territory.
As I said...they got their reply. A pretty loud reply, too. If they want to kill the game before it launches, they now know what to do. XD |

I can go with that. With EvE, WoW there's a distinct line drawn in the sand by the players. Apparently this is what happens when you cross that line XD. |

The question now becomes, to what extent? This is the first of many disturbing revelations to come, I fear.

Read my other quote on the subject.
First, to me it sounds like at least BioWare has said they have -not- decided on any business model.
Second, nobody knows what MT means in this context. (Could be character-transfers, name-changes, anything games like WoW and EVE already offer as MT's).
Third, the interview was a mess in the first place to be honest. Warhammer Online has MT? Where? I never saw it while I played it. And many people got the impression from that article that EA said they used MT in Warhammer. So...eh.
But one thing I will say. They better come out with some information quick. Damage Control is useless now. |

EA's CEO did the same thing he did when he let it slip that BioWare's MMO was based on Star Wars. TOR's payment system has been unofficially revealed. We don't have the exact details, but we know it will be RMT based. There was no misunderstanding, it was just that EA's CEO again revealed something before it was supposed to be announced. He seems to have a habit of doing that. We'll have to wait until February to know the exact details, but we know what to expect.

Well, if they do decide to go with the microtransaction model I will not be buying this game. A lot of what I've heard about this game already has me thinking I'll be passing on it. I thought basing an MMO on KOTOR would be amazing, but it sounds like Bioware is pretty determined to make a game I will personally hate. |

Well the game certainly fell from it's top spot on the hyper meter since this was announced. Not surprising at all really. MT is for Asian countries because of internet cafes and the annual income of people in those countries. In the West, it's all about subscriptions. Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity. |

Someone I agree with! People, you need to stop being so dramatic and worried about everything. He also mentioned Warhammer in that statement. Is it microtransation? No. Could they mean they're going to come out with some games that are subscription based and some that are microtransation based? I just find it funny how much you people on this forum freak out or get so obsessed with things. AoC is going to be the greatest thing ever! Wait, no it sucked, lets switch to Warhammer! No that sucked too. All games now are going to suck even when they come from a proven company like Bioware! When they actually announce things and its posted on their website then start flailing and yelling to anyone who will listen. If you rush to conclusions you're just going to look stupid in the future. |

You all keep forgetting that this news was spilled by the 'Crazy Larry & His Mile of Used Cars' of the MMO world. Riccietto is to be trusted about as far as he can be thrown. |

maybe I have this concept wrong, but it sounds like EA wants to milk it for whatever they can really quickly as if there expecting the game to fail overall in the long run? |
