Sony seams to have hopped on the micropayment band wagon.
With 1/2 fluff gear and some exp potions. Go spend more money. Wow never thought I'd see this from this company.

So the players that chose to play on non station exchange servers were lied to. Nothing new. Smedley has excelled in the art of deception. "We have no plans what so ever to do actual sales of in game items, and I'm personally very opposed to the idea for EverQuest. I think microtransations can be a valid business model if planned from the ground up for a game, but it would be very very bad for EQ." and Originally Posted by Smed We aren't going to be allowing RMT in any way, shape or form on the non-exchange enabled EQ II servers. Period. End of statement. In any event, I wanted to stop in and at least set the record straight - you aren't going to be seeing RMT allowed on the non-exchange enabled servers. John Smedley" Lies.

I can see this being the end or at least a very big hit for the Everquest community. I would predict no less than 10% of the player base will quit because of this outrage. I Was going to buy Vangard but now I won't even touch a SoE game. Hell im so pissed off at sony I was going to get a ps3 this december, well screw them Im buying a 360 elite now. |

Well EQ2 was my last stop on an mmorpg. Finally tried it after all the nay saying and do love the game. Just bought TSO last week and now this happens. Guess im not meant to play an mmo. Looks like single player games for me from now on. Even returning to WOW would be a step up after this announcement although a step i will not take. |

OK, so monthly pay to play the game, have the ability to buy ingame gold for hard rl cash (Station Exchange) And Now you can buy all your gear and achievment potions without having to play the game! So if you are rich in real life, you are now offically rich ingame too!! even your gear! Pure genious SoE! |

You can bet your ass that after the dust settles that thread will be deleted to remove all traces of decent from those who quit over this. Just like the herded everyone into the special forum for exchange servers, they deleted the old pre-nge forums, the combat revamp and everytime SOE pushes some bullshit down the players throats.
It wasn't hard to tell this was coming, but I'm sure there are still people who will downplay this and pretend it isn't going to slowly get worse and worse.

I'm not into EQ2.. i loved EQ back in the day. I currently play Vanguard. I used to level people for money in EQ. I used to sell plat in EQ. I used to make real good money doing so.. I'm not against any of that occurring in an MMO. As far as i'm concerned an MMO is there to be enjoyed by whoever is playing it. It's not a competition. It's a communal non skill based form of entertainment and should be approached as such. That being said. I don't like liars. I will be cancelling my Vanguard subscription and i will not EVER play an SOE game again. |

Although pretty empty and despite some faults EQ2 was a fine game. I am glad I read about this before I gave to my desire to see Norrath again. Thank you very much mmorpg.com-posters.
We aren't going to be allowing RMT in any way, shape or form on the non-exchange enabled EQ II servers. Period. End of statement. John Smedley |

Give it time. Honestly, as long as people don't stand up to this SOE will continue to push the envelope.
I am sure SOE will promise that is won't happen, but they already promised they wouldn't introduce microtransactions in everquest and here we are. Just like they promised they would fight against gold sellers... until they introduced goldselling themselves. Just like they said so many other things they would never allow.
The only thing you can 100% count on from SOE is that if they think they will make a buck off of it, they will do it. It does not matter in the slightest if they trample upon their customers experience to do so as long as they think it will improve their bottom line. It has been that way for years and will continue to be that way. People who make the comments that you just did is what empowers this kind of behaviour from a company. I hope when [not if] SOE finally does something to this extreme that affects your gameplay it isn't to late. Turning a blind eye now is the worst thing you can do, because selling items that everyone wants is the next step. |

maybe they did promise but then 90% of the mmorog community are retards who cancel sub for every new mmorpg that comes out and a company cant run on cookies and milk you know |
