Oh c'mon! Everybody knows it's Friday at 14:43 PST, in a live TV broadcast from the moon. They have to outdo Richard Garriot, y'know!

I doubt they will announce any real details about their mmo any time soon it seems it is still very early in development.

Personnally I would not be surprised if the game is something to do with Starcraft, since they are making 3 fleshed out Starcraft campaigns it seems like they are trying to expand their lore like they did with Warcraft before they released WoW.

If that is the case the mmo will probably be out around a year or 2 after the last of the 3 Starcraft games comes out.

It is really unlikely that they will do anything vastly innovative, but given their RTS background it would be great if they made an MMORTS. That is about as different as you can get from WoW, and the current crop of games.

Theres some MMORTS games out their like Dreamlords for instance, so it would fits Blizzards style of making games where they take what has been tried and improve upon it. With Co-op RTS games starting to crop up it would be a natural evolution and the enevitable area they will expand to on a more mainstream level.

I wont hold my breath though, I reckon it will be Tabula Rasa done right due to the potential mechanics not being so different that they could not appeal to some of their current fans.

I really havent known about this plan that blizzard is going to have a MMO, although from the looks of it, I predict that it will going to be a good one. I hope that it wont lag in development like starcraft ghost did. And up until now itsnt released. lolz.

Blizzard has never let me down.

I am excited to see what the game is.  I need an MMORPG; I have been mostly playing Warcraft III: FT lately and the brilliant Grand Theft Auto IV.

I might go out on a limb and say, and I suspect I might regret saying this for some reason that is not presently known to me, that GTA IV is the greatest game - ever.

Pssst... let's hope there is a world that is interesting to explore.  Lands that you want to travel to and through.  Peoples with unique and creative cultures.  Give us a world.  We got enough games.

they announecd it today. they are putting a $300 million dollar budget into a new game called "life online" you start of as a baby and you go threw life trying 2 achieve end game" [at age/lvl 65+ you get to go to old folks instances and stuff" aparently it takes a long time to level up. 12 real time months per level i herd.

Morhaime have said that it isn't a Wow sequel but refuse to say if it is something similar to Wow.

To me it seems like it will be "World of Diablo" then.

So basically, they didn't mention anything today? It's almost 6 pm EST, and I know Blizzard is a west coast company, so assuming a work day ends at 5pm PST, if nothing is announced by 8pm EST, this was one big hoax?

Dude, the announcement is going to be made 'tommorrow'.

Apparently it's comfirmed that yes, it will be made tomorrow.

A few freiends that went to Blizzcon told me that at a pannel they addressed the question with its not starcraft its not diablo its something completly new to them. i have no way of proving that just down the grapevine

Whatever MMORPG  we decide too make... we will put a release date of December 2009 (which means in Real Time April 2021)

So WHO CARES what they announced... EVERY GAME THEY HAVE EVER MADE... takes 5-10 years before the game acutally comes out.
