Sure, if it is good. WOW has a lot more content than any SP game and even if i just play it alone (which i do not), it is worth the price of more than one box. The same applies here. A usually box game (say Force Unleashed) takes me like 1-2 weeks to finish. If a game keep me entertained for 3 months, I don't see why I wouldn't pay $40+3*15 = $85 for it .. given that it is good and keep me entertained for the whole time.
huh you do make a good point, now if only they would branch out and make a SPORPG where everything is solo play with the possibility of coop play but not requirement. and leave the MMORPG be team or community oriented. but i stand firm that i refuse to pay for a subscription fee for me to play a game single player. |

Anyone willing to pay a sub for a multiplayer addon ( not mmo, but mo ) or "cooperative play" is nuts. Like the poor schleps who actually paid a sub for Hellgate: London. What next? A $14.99 monthly sub for Halo? |

If i get more enjoyment out, why am i nuts? I am not planning to pay for sub forever. Oh, btw, are those people nuts who pay for HALO (and other games) addons? If you are so frugal about your gaming habits, fine. Don't think everyone is as much a miser as you do. Some of us can actually spending a little on stuff that we like. |

Sure sure. However, if the game is really good, you will be missing out. And I also have a feeling that if a game is truly awesome, you will eat those words. I have a feeling that if Diablo 3 is going to charge some sub fees (may be with constant content update), lots of people, including myself, will go for it. |

I'mn sorry Zorvan, but I have to disagree here. It all depends on what you get for your money. If you get enjoyment out of the game, out of the multiplayer part of the game that is, then I would think that $14.99 per month is not too much money to spend on a hobby that you thoroughly enjoy.
So many people are tossing around the subscription fee. The truth is, if you get what you pay for, meaning a good multiplayer environment with regular updates and content patches, then $15 per month is really not that much. If I buy a SP game today, I spend 40 bucks on it. That game will give me what...a week? Maybe 2 weeks enjoyment. Then, I would have to get a new one for 40 bucks. That's 80 bucks per month.
I'd say the 15$ are rather cheap compared to that.
As I said, it all depends on what you get for the 15$. If it's an enjoyable gaming experience, plus fixes, plus content patches, plus service, then no, I don#t think it's a high price to pay. |

At this point in time I feel that Champions will stomp DC universe. I used to be middle of the road on it, but DC universe just seems to look and feel too much like that Superman arcade game from the early 90's. Anyone remember the one I am talking about? It was a decent game, don't get me wrong, but it was mostly looks and the gameplay was kind of stiff at times and way too loose at others, not very realistic or fluid. That's what I am sensing from that game right now. Plus from what I've seen they aren't going to have nearly the amount of customization options that Champions will have. Bioware, Star Wars...It will be a great game, but it won't appeal to the sandbox fans or the PvP crowd as it will definately be a PvP lite game with PvP zones and instanced arenas. But it will be polished and full of content so that you could solo all the way to max level, or group up and hit those deep dark catacombs where the Sith keep their most advanced Holocrons. I hope there is a lot of options when it comes to customizing your weapons and clothes as well as your lightsaber. |

SW will do fine, but it won't be the next WoW. There will never be another WoW, so stop judging a games potential success against WoW. When that games closes shop millions of players will vanish from the mmo scene because WoW was their first mmo (and first game for that matter). Champions will probably not fare too well...just a gut feeling. |

So yea, they are nuts to pay for addons for other games on a console when so many get those addons for free on the PC. A standard Xbox 360/PS3 game will cost you $65 give or take with tax included. A pc game will cost you $55, with tax included. Anyway, both new MMorpg's will release hopefully when ready, and id put my money with bioware who would be the developer that will release it when its finished... unlike $OE, they will not and im willing to bet will have a RMT cash/item shop included in the game... haha can you imagine paying extra real money to get wings for your hero/heroin? This is why the DC game will fail before its even released. Hey how bout having to pay an extra $5, just to meet superman and get quest from... dont be suprised if it happens either.

There are a few devs that made a lot of best selling games and Bioware is one of those. To be honest I am moree intrested about Dragonage: Origins than old republic even though ot's not a MMO, but still Bioware is even though it is still relativly small a company that knows how to make great best selling games. DCU is harder to tell. On one hand they have brilliant Jim Lee (he made Gen 13 and a lotsa good comics for Marvel) as an art director. On the other hand are SOE know to make crap out of gold, yeah I am pissed on them right now for making cash shops in EQ 1 & 2. |

I am hoping bioware can take the next step in MMO and improve upon the kind of content it can deliver. WOTLK did a great job with scripting, phasing and instances. I am hoping bioware will have new ideas in this area (the companion idea sounds great though WOW uses that in some isolated quests too).

I was in the exact position as you. I felt that no decent MMORPG is worth playing, until I found out about Atlantica Online. The game sets it apart from other MMOs out there. Namel because of its turn-based battle system that is unlike the basic MMOs that are hack-and-slash combat based. Another innovation that this game offers is the Political aspect of the game in which guild master can control towns and eventually create nations, once he is influential enough. There are other innovations aswell but I will spare you the details and let you find it on your own. I almost forgot to mention that it is FREE 2 PLAY, no strings attached. |
