I'm looking forward to the new Starwars  MMORPG, but the sad thing is, it's getting alot of hype. And you just know it's going to fail. *Cough* AoC *Cough*, There isn't many good Mmorpgs in at the moment, and i've played most current ones.

Next year, starwars and possibly DC universe will come out, DC universe i'm slightly sceptical about. As, i hated City of Villians/Heroes and looking at the short gameplay clip they look alike, but i'll still try it.

I won't mind waiting an extra one, even two years to ensure the developers can make a good game that lives up to the hype,  and isnt just a flop like many games that are coming out at the moment. If Starwars fails it will be a extremely missed chance in my eyes.

Yeah, Bioware doesnt make bad games.

I believe they sold thier soul to the devil a long time ago.

Old Republic is going to be a really good MMO.

I have no doubt, Will it be a spectacular totally new take on mmo gaming? no

Will it sell more than WoW? who cares

I'll bet anything that the new bioware MMO will be a good game with a good sized community that will fund the game enough that Bioware will update the game constently.

That's all we really want right? a good game with a decent population that is heavily supported by the developers. right?

unless you're a WoW killer fanboi or Pre-Nge junkie this game is going to be cool.

From the screen shots they've shown us it looks like the game has been in development for a while.

This is bioware, they wont release this bad boy until it feels just right.

I predict both games will stink up the joint.  I hope the SW one is good, but I have doubt clouding my mind.

having Hype does not necessarily means it will be a bad product! where that correlation came from I wonder?? :D

ALL of Bioware previous games had a lot of hype and they all turned out really well, so I would not be too much worried about it.

i have no doubt that the LORE of old republic is amazing and the depth of DC universe will be GREAT... but i fear that the gameplay will be the downfall.

they really have to :

for the SW MMO get away from the SWG NGE gameplay style and inovate something new

for the DC universe get away from the CoX gameplay and inovate something new

for both, they have to get away from the EQ/WoW/EQ2 etc model

i swear if i see another game with levels and tallent/expertise trees... ill... ill..... i dont know what ill do but ill do something...

Bioware is good at makeing RPGs and singleplayer games, who knows how good they will be at makeing a MMORPG. TBH i think it will bomb hard(thx to hype), looking at what has been shown so far i'm not even in the slight bit interested.

EDIT: and from what i've seen of DC universe at the comic-con, i think it will be decent and have a niche community. But it is not the kind of game i would play.

Playing: EVE Online
Favorite MMOs: WoW, SWG Pre-cu, Lineage 2, UO, EQ, EVE online
Looking forward to: Archeage, Kingdom Under Fire 2

Well to start off, Bioware's star wars game is probably a 2011 game, we most definitely won't see it next year.  Hard to say what it will be.  As to DC Universe, I have no confidence in anything that comes out of SOE anymore.

The only game I care about is Biowares because I have a pretty good idea as to what it will look like. However, like Squal'Zell pointed out Bioware may fail in the gameplay element. I have no doubt that there will a lot of epic quest lines to complete but that really does not seem to revolutionary. Not saying that games that revolutionize the industry are great, but that we are in need of something new. The market isn't as big as MMORPG developers seem to think and it is getting saturated with EQ clones (WoW is just an EQ clone as far as I'm concerned) who do little to really expand or better the MMORPG market.

Already with the Sith vs Jedi factions I'm starting to feel like Bioware is just going to stick to the current MMO norm. They've already said that World of Warcraft is a big influence to them as developers.  World of Starwars is not something I'm truly interested in.

and i though that was the NGE

levels 1-90 SWG   levels 1-80 WoW

Expertise points at level 10+ SWG            Talent points at level 10+ WoW

both Quest driven...

im sorry but if either DC or SW come out like that it will not get the subs they expect.

Actually TOR has been in development since Dec 2005, and is recently as 2007 BioWare stated that they had a goal to launch the game in 2009, and I also remember a Lucas Arts rep saying as far back as 2005 that if there was another Star Wars MMO in the works it wouldn't be out untill 2009. If you need me to link the articles I will, I've had to do it many times already for other doubters.

Well, as long as they make a single player game with some coop elements, it would be a good game. As long as it is a good game, i will play it even when it does not confirm to traditional MMOs.

I am all over the fence with SWTOR. One the one hand Bioware has made great games, but then, never a MMO. And the graphics looks irritating. Also we heard little detail beside the fact story plays a part, but its a bit unsettling we havent heard ANY hard facts so far. It may be great, but it may as well be a total flop, its impossible to say at this time.

Well, if you enjoy worry, then you are on the right path.  This game is likely years away.  Not going to spend a second of it worrying about this game.

if any company can come close to wow / blizzard it would be bioware, they have a large and loyal fan base due to great and amazing games.

wow did so well because A warcraft has a large fanbase and B blizzard just like bioware, never fails to produce quality games.

combine bioware with one of the greatest titles ever, star wars, and you are sure to have a great mmo.

I would be if they added new content regularly.  Either way, whats the difference between grinding for gear with other people and completing a story with other people?

Sure, if it is good. WOW has a lot more content than any SP game and even if i just play it alone (which i do not), it is worth the price of more than one box.

The same applies here.

A usually box game (say Force Unleashed) takes me like 1-2 weeks to finish. If a game keep me entertained for 3 months, I don't see why I wouldn't pay $40+3*15 = $85 for it .. given that it is good and keep me entertained for the whole time.
