Pure logic prevails! Bravo, this lad is quite correct and I would not set an example for SoE if I had the choice. |

It is not so hard, if you are lucking and get a few master spells at high levels you have them fast. I guess the goldseller sent the gold wrong but it is kinda odd, 5 plat is peanuts, who buy so little? And if the OP is really addicted he would still play even if Smedley came home to him to give him a wedgie every day... |

I see from your post history that you are one of the SOE hatecrew, and that's fine with me. Personally, I have a vendetta against carrots. However, I don't consider this being treated poorly (they're showing that they are taking an active stance against gold sellers/buyers) at all. I should probably add that they credited this account 28 days playtime as an apology yesterday. I hadn't requested or expected that, so it was a lovely surprise. Such a bad company. lol |

Good for them (and you) that they gave you some form of restitution for deleting you in-game money. It does nothing to change my point that your willingness to defend SOE deleting your in-game money in the first place will make it much more likely they will do it to someone else. Your acceptance of poor treatment only increases the likleyhood that someone else is going to recieve similar treatment.

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp. |

As the OP said, while it was an annoyance they made the money back in a very short time period. If they enjoy the game then it would be foolish to leave family and friends over the mistake SOE made.
If the OP had said SOE punished them by wiping their characters out, then they would be foolish to continue playing. I've had similar non-critical issues with various gaming companies over the years and just mark it down as one black mark in the book. Too many (subjective to each person) black marks with one particular company would equal loss of my sub. |

Originally posted by darwa Something similar happened a few years ago in SWG. There was a massive credit dupe and the dupers went around sending money to all sorts of people. (in SWG there is a slash command that lets you instantly send money to peoples bank that you are standing next to, not trade window needed and you can not stop it. At least there was during that time). It spread like wildfire for a while. People would just run around tipping millions of credits to other players.
SOE banned anyone who got duped money, including people who had NPCs vendors selling their crafted items while there were offline. Anyone who got banned needed to file a petition and go through a review process to make sure they were not guilty. It was a bad situation for SOE to be in, but they were way to heavy handed.
You might have some luck filing a petition and trying to get it reversed. If you have a history of getting money from people in the mail and find a reasonable CSR they should revert the money back to you. Also if someone is just randomly sending out duped plat to flood the CSRs they should be understanding about it. |

I got caught in the SWG credit dupe as well. I'd completely forgotten about that. I had a T-21 with mindfire on a vendor for an insane amount and someone bought it with duped credits. Same account as well. I think this was the only time in EQ2 that I've either sent or received money through the mail on this server. I used to do it on my first server quite a bit though, but that was many moons ago. At the end of the day, I think SOE took the right action, and I'm certainly not bitter. The 28 days free gametime on Station Access more than makes up for the less IMO. |
