I don't like secrecy around MMO launches. EVERY TIME devs refuse to talk about some aspect of a game they do it because the game SUCKS. I've seen this thousand times.

I have all these questions:

Why are they not showing their awesome game to the press? I mean REALLY show it.
Why isn't there more information about Closed Beta?
Why are there no credible beta leaks like in EVERY OTHER MMO BETA IN HISTORY?
Why is NDA still in affect?
Why haven't they talked about a trial?
Why is there no information about Open Beta?
etc.

There are just too many unanswered questions.

Now I REALLY , honestly want DF to be an awesome game. I really do. It's just that in my oppinion all this secrecy means only one thing..

Darkfall will FAIL.

If it is really bad the cat will be let out of the bag fairly soon.

yea i remember reading about vanguard and dnl before they were released....man they sounded awesome.

the reason i can think of for not showing is cause its either chunky unstable stale kinda feeling and theyr afraid people will go ZOMG OMFG ITS A BUG IN CLOSED BETA OMFG I WONT BUY THIS GAME like most people say these days

If there isn't any info about Closed Beta I'm sure it's normal to hear nothing close when it comes to Open Beta/Full Release. I still have to agree with you, but I'm hoping you'll be wrong about what will become of Darkfall.

u will prolly be labelled as a "troll" but for the DF fans: this OP is just referring to the history, with dnl, vanguard but prolly aoc as best example of it cause the lvl 20+ content never was in open beta and turned out out to be shallow and buggy

its healthy skepticism and too many times ppl on this forum have been labelled a troll just cause they are being realistic. DFs history is long with various beta announcements and vids, u have to understand some ppl take everything of DF with a grain of salt

edit: i only disagree with the title of this topic :) DF has the chance to change this pattern

When in doubt, follow the money. If someone is willing to let me try out their products for free, I trust but verify nonetheless. So far there aren't possible to preorder this game. To me that means the devs ahve faith in their game...

isnt it nice being so nitpicky.. u know i was being sarcastic or not? anyway.. i know what u are trying to say, now im asking for the arguments.

Darkfall have FFA full-loot PvP, and even if most things in DF fails we still have the PvP part. We know there is goblin mobs, so we can get new gear.

These two things makes DF for me better than all the other mmo`s out there.

We know almost nothing about the gameplay. Only empty words and promises. I really like what I've heard about DF but until I can try it for myself, all these promises mean absolutely nothing to me. Remember AoC?

For all we know DF gameplay could be the worst gameplay in the history of computer gaming.

And by the way.. those goblins are so damn smart they will zerg you and take YOUR stuff so no new gear for you, sorry.

You are ignroant lol. We know tons about gameplay, it is FPS combat, waht more do you need to know? There is collision detection, no click'n'cast, and it is a really good game.

lol your asking why more aren't breaking the NDA, thats just rich. I hope others mature a bit and quit doing that with other beta's. Respecting agreements you make seems to be an odd concept with some people, which in itself says a lot about them.

I have been wondering that myself. Hard for people to try the game before buying like they said they wanted without a free trial of some sort.  Unless they are planning on Open beta being the free trial.

So that leaves what? 1 unanswerd question.

You I am afraid have failed.

Because the bigger they come the harder they fall.

If the devs dont start tooting their own horns like every other developer then we cant be mad at them when we dont like the game. It would be too easy for players to find reasons to bash the game.

Everybody saying why  dont they do this or that like every other MMO. Well since UO and EQ days what MMO has been a sucess other than WoW? None really. And every other MMO was hyped and commercialized up the ass and they failed. I cant help but think that if games like AoC and WAR didnt use trailers and ads to make their games look so much cooler than they actually were then they wouldve done a little better.

Also people seem to be lumping this release with all of the major ones. Its not one of the mainstream releases (war, aoc, wow, eq2) . It is simply an indie developer putting out an honest independed MMO on their on terms for the first time ever. They arent trying to compete. Just let it come out and then judge it.
